Talented Syrian singer Asalah flew to Beirut last week to receive he Murex D’Or award for “Best Female Arab Singer”. The Murex D’Or Awards honor all artistic achievements in the Middle East of the previous year. This year, the star-studded event was attended by many Lebanese and Arab singers, with the exception of a few, such as Best Female Lebanese Singer Elissa. Notable winners included Saber El Roubai (for Best Male Arab Singer), Wael Kfouri (for Best Male Lebanese singer), Fadel Chaker and Yara (for Best Duet), and Nancy Ajram (for Greatest Achievement since 2003).

As she was greeted in Rafic Hariri International Airport, Asalah expressed her happiness at winning the award. She said that she truly felt her hard work had paid off. Asalah mentioned that her personal nominees for Best Female Arab Singer would have been Sherine Ahmed, Nawal El Kuwaitia, Ahlam, and Nawal El Zoghbi.

Asalah also expressed her true feelings: She honestly felt fully appreciated by Rotana for the first time. In her previous experience, with her “Aadi” album, she was not treated very well at all, compared with Elissa and Kadim El Saher. This time, Rotana had helped her every step of the way this time round with her album, “Hayati”. She had received support at times of need and offered all the luxuries she could dream of. Congratulations, you always deserve the best, Asalah!
