Miss Egypt 2007: Ehsan Hatem
does she has any european roots?
she doesnt look arabic????? but she is sooo pretty
she ain't that pretty. In some photos she looks bad, in one of the photos, she looks like the lady in the dove advert.
And to look like her you don't have to have european roots, i look more western than her but am still iraqi. It depends on your genes. Say your grandmas green eyes come in, then you mums blond hair comes in, then your uncle tallness come in, it gets all mixed and then you look western . Thats what happened to me, and i get mistaken being french or british, despite i do live in britain and i have no british blood.
I think egypt has more pretty girls than her, even lebanon. And to miss lebanon or miss egypt, in my opinion u need to look arab. They did well in miss lebanon, but i think its bad in miss egypt. Thats why i doubt in entering miss iraq, but i can pull it off enetring miss england. But then again they may say i don't have british blood. But i don't care, i got the london accent and the look, and some of their quirkiness.
la la ,
She is pretty dun deny it she looks greaaaaaaat. on the other she is soooooooo cultured when u see her talking i am 100% sure u will change ur mind
Lala,
I totally know what you mean. I am Sudanese, who also happens to live in Britain (Scotland), but don't look like it. People say I look mixed, some will say Latin, others will say Portugese and others simply don't have a clue. They would never say Sudanese.
You said that you would not enter Miss Iraq, but you would enter Miss England just because you don't look Arab. I don't think that matters. You could be a refreshing and new face to represent Iraq. Being unique and individual will be of a big plus because that means that you stand out from the other contestants. You won't look like the typical or usual Iraqi. Will be interesting.
If you want to represent an Arab country, you don't need to look like an Arab, and you only need to carry the Arab blood.
That's why there is such a big buzz going around about Ehsan.
I didn't watch Miss Egypt, so I cannot place much of an opinion about her. She is not what I expected Miss Egypt to look like. I was a little suprised when I saw her.
Anyways, Good Luck to her.
Hi all,
Ehsan Hatem is half American, which may or may not explain her somewhat western look. The reason I say this is that while I'm half American myself, I get my western looks from my dad's side of the family who are Egyptian of Turkish and Albanian origin. My sister who looks exactly like our American mom is never mistaken for anything other than Egyptian or possibly Greek or Italian.
Anyway, I'm not much of a Miss World/Universe fan, but I thought I'd comment on the non-Egyptian or Arabic look that many of you brought up. The girl is pretty and I understand quite cultured as well, which is a far cry from some of the airheads who represented this country in the past. I worked with a few of them who went on to do commercial or film work and two of them had me totally convinced they were brain dead.
i will admit, i haven't heard her talking. But everyone has different taste, i think miss lebanon is prettier than her. I don't think she is pretty in all of the photos. Cause i searched her on google to try to get photos from different sides of her face. Egypt has more prettier girls than her. The european look isn't always the winning look in miss world or miss universe. This is what ppl should be thinking, now this stage is nothing compared to the next level.
Thanks lou lou u put me up, and thanks for the great advice. You made me see another point.
Emme ur a joka "brain dead". And your right, later on i read she is half american on a different site.
But ppl, don't getinto the conclusion that i hate miss egypt, i just think there couldbe another prettier girl. But anyways good luck to her.
By the way, u know in miss lebanon, u know the old queens, is it me or nearly all of them had plastic surgeries, it just amazes me.
I think she looks good, BUT there are so many girls in Egypt that are much more beautiful than her. So I think she is beautiful, but not to be Miss Egypt. I'm sorry, but that's my opinion. And don't get me wrong, I don't want to hate on anybody!
By the way, in my opinion it doesn't matter if more western look or more arab look. It's only important that she is beautiful & intelligent and that she has charisma. :-)
Lala,
Your welcome :)
I do understand what you are trying to say, and completely do agree with you. "The european look isn't always the winning look in miss world or miss universe".
There's nothing wrong with being unique in comparison to other Arabs. But, there need to be something unique and special that makes you stand out not just among the Arabs, but the World. Not sure if that's what you mean, but that's definitely how I see it.
This is going off the topic a little, but Chanel Iman. She is a model who happens to be Korean/African-American. She is by far the most unique and interesting person on the catwalks right now. She also has a sweet and slightly quirky character. I absolutely love her.
And about the plastic surgery, I'm not too sure. Gabrielle seems to have an unnatural looking nose, but I don't know if she has had plastic surgery or not. I don't think a beauty contest should allow people with plastic surgery to enter because it would just set a bad example that being fake is being beautiful. Not a good message to send out.
Emme,
Where have you been? Long time no see. Hope you are doing well.
I can actually imagine what a nightmare that would be, working with "brain dead" beauties. But surely there have been a few that weren't that bad, or even that bad at all.
Last year for Miss Lebanon, I wanted Annabella to win. Instead Gabriella did. I prefered Annabella over her, but she did a really good job and deserved it. I admire her for juggling with two roles; being a Miss Lebanon by carrying out projects, and being a Student by contining her studies. Impressive.
Take Care
She is gorgeous, the best ever. Hope they recognise her beauty in MU and not let politics be involved as usual.
TO EMME-
wow im Albanian (born and all), and i know there are many egyptians of albanian descent but i havent ever heard of anyone specific. i always tought they considered themselves just egyptian instead of egyptian of albanian background. good to know there are still people proud of their roots :)
anyway the girl Ehsan is very pretty she'll do just fine in Miss Universe.
she does not represent anything egyptian in her look, she looks so EASTERN EUROPEAN, where is our middle eastern beauties.......
I think she's really pretty. However, I think it's a shame that they chose someone who cannot communicate in Arabic. How can you represent Egypt, an Arab country, and not be able to answer questions in Arabic or even communicate it. That's a big concern for me. I don't care if her beauty is not a real representative of the mainstream Egyptian beauty. That's trivial. The important thing is she doesn't speak arabic. Now, that's absured.
check http://www.voy.com/208925/ for more pics..by the way she is completely gorgeous....and can speak arabic very well..she lived all her life in egypt....:))))
i hope she makes well outside..well i hope being half american doesn't lead to descrimination about her
umm, no! she does not speak arabic very well. When she answered her question, she had to resort to English to fully answer the question. Iam sorry, but you should only answer in arabic. You are in an arabic contest. She does not speak Arabic fluently, and she struggles with it. That's a problem. She's probably going to need a translator when she interacts with the media.
Lala,
I totally agree that the western look is not necessarily the winning look. In fact, I personally prefer the non-western look. Unfortunately, I have to agree with you about the plastic surgery bit. The first Nadine Njeim only got her teeth capped though, which doesn't really count as plastic surgery.
Lou lou,
I'm doing very well, thank you. Hope all is well at you end. As for the vanishing act, well, I've just been busy adjusting to the life of leisure I've imposed on myself. I'm taking time off till the end of July - possibly longer and since I'm not used to sitting around and vegging out, it's taking a bit of an effort to adjust.
Yes, there have been a few intelligent beauties (Huda Abboud and Carine Fahmy come to mind right away). I don't know Heba El Siessy, but I heard she's quite sharp). There was one particular Miss Egypt who really drove me to the verge on insanity on a commercial shoot. I won't get into details, but she certainly has the IQ of a doorknob! Heard some colorful tales about a few others, but thankfully didn't have to live through the production nightmares they caused.
Bubblegum,
Thanks so much for your post.
A few years ago my father and his younger brother managed to track down family in Turkey and now that they have more time on their hands and support out of Turkey they'll be trying to work on the Albanian branch of the family tree. We are all very proud of our origin and I can assure you that there are many others who feel exactly the same way about their Turkish or Albanian background.
Take care all. Peace.
Emme
Emme,
Lol, what a funny post, "she certainly has the IQ of a doorknob!".
I have to admit, I too am in Bubblegum's postition. Well, that's a lie. I actually did not know that there were Egyptians of Albanian background. That was very interesting.
Anyways, it's good to see you again.
in my opinion , she looks totally europian , and for me europians are cute not beautiful , i think in the arab world whether in egypt or in lebanon we have many beautifull girls , they have the arabian beauty ..
mis lebanon is cute too , but there are many much prettier out there , i quess from what lebanon passed through thsi year not many contastants performed
anyway good luck for both , bs still i prefer a non-western beauty
she is sooooo beautiful _fawzia miss2006 so bad its stigma _but ehsan so preety we are agree totally to choose her miss2007 _yara not preety and all girls --
Yara isn't pretty...Yara is GORGEOUS..beside she has the arab look too....!!!ehsan is gorgeous too but in the european look
i don't understand why they would choose some european looking girl to represent Egypt !!! thats so awkward ... Fawzeya was so much better , she looked, talked, acted egyptian and thats what its all about.
Define looking, talking & acting Egyptian?
Is it Fifi Abdo 4 instance?
People are becoming more & more narrow-minded by the second.
I am an Egyptian, yes wow shock horror gasp. I have light skinned & green eyed cousins & dark skinned black eyed cousins and I come in between with olive skin. My mum has pinkish skin, my dad is fair, my bro is asmarany. My grandma (Allah yer7mha) had white skin & hazel eyes and my uncle has blue eyes and the reddest skin tone. I have a weak master of the Arabic language.
So who out of all of us is supposedly carrying the best & most appropriate 'Egyptian look'?
And since the hell when did Arabs care about the mother’s side of the family? No one is arguing about saya3ona afandy ms Haifa having an Egyptian mum...in fact all I hear is that she should be Lebs representative.
We're all different...so get over it. And yes Europeans are beautiful. Arab is not a super race & it's not a disgraceful race either...it's the same as the rest of humanity.
Sam,
I liked your comment very much!!
I agree with you 100%!
Sooo true ....
beauty isn't the only reference to be miss Egypt. to be samart and cultural you can be miss Egypt.and that's what Ehsan has than other girls in the competetion so she won,it's simple.why all this comments say that she won because she's european look?,and they must choose arabian look, grow up people.
