On last nights Album prime I was extremely distressed at the image the show was giving Arabs, it made us look like were all hostile towards people from other countries and that we couldn’t get along! Firstly the contestants from the group named ‘El Mashrek El Araby’ were all hostile towards each other and started talking about how the Lebanese contestant is bossy and uncooperative and how the new entrant to their group, Wafa, will not be allowed to be part of the group etc! And they turned their whole fight into an entire reportage as if they were proud of the indecent behaviors of the contestants!

The only group that seemed to be together was the ‘North African’ group who all seemed to love each other and when it came to voting for the weakest member they refused to do so! The Gulf team all picked on how the only girl Badriya had vocal problems and that she basically couldn’t sing –so much for team! Even the judges started undermining each other’s work, the manager of ‘EL Mashrek El Araby’ told the ‘North Africa’ trainers that they were basically doing nothing because their contestants already had good voices and that the lyrics they were given for the ‘New Hit’ were already good so creating a melody was a fools work! The thing I want to know is why they insist on showcasing hostility on that show do they think it will help their ratings?!

The program is fake and Razan is fake .. But shes still cutiee.. !

STAR ACADEMY WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST MUSIC PROGRAM IN THE ARABIC WORLD, in my eyes :)

What do you expect from a show whose heart is NATIONALITY and not music ? The beauty of Star Academy and Superstar is that the point of the show transcends religion, ethnicity, nationality, etc. We watch to see how amazing it is to see people from all different backgrounds coming together under one roof and becoming a family. In the case of Album, its basic premise is putting regions AGAINST each other. For god's sake, throughout star academy we beg people to vote for who deserves and not for countries. Now this show is erasing all that and making people, in effect, show support to only their region. It's disgusting.
And on top of all of this, all the voices are really really really bad.

This show is crap. Nuff said.

Why don't you acknowledge the truth?
A common "written" language is not reason enough to show friendliness towards people who don't look like you, don't talk like you, don't eat or live like you.
Even Star Academy that some claims "Transcends" ethnicities and religions only proves this point.
Waleg's forum itself is a witness of the fierce nationalistic mud-slinging among fans of two contestants from different countries.
That does not surprise me, and I fail to see why it should surprises you?
At the contrary, I saw two unified blocs against one another vs. separate countries.
Let's face it: hostility exists within the Maghreb itself, like between Tunisia and Morocco, and needless to remind everyone of the hostilities existing between Lebanon on one hand, and Syria and the Palestinians on the other hand.
I don't see why we should like each other!
So live with it!

There is no hostilities between Tunisia and Morocco what you see is a reaction of two competition loving people that sometimes goes wrong but never too wrong.

Maybe you should watch a football game between two Tunisian teams or two Moroccan teams...you will be left wondering how these people go back to the same house or the same job site?!

Lebchris there are so many reasons we should love each other...not seeing them doesn't mean they don't exist.

yah i only like the north african group..it seems that they love each other and work well together. but again, sometimes i feeel they do that b.c , they now are the best team in the show, so by showing their love between each other, it increases their popularity. i am not saying this is bad..but smart!

STAR ACADEMY IS THE BEST !

i think the nort african group is good, because there is something with people in the actual continent africa.
I mean most black people have good voices, and i wasn't too sure about the arabian parts of africa at first. But after star academy, superstar and this show. It seems like africans have good voices. Am not saying other ethnics are bad, i mean am iraqi, so am not being biased.
But there is something genetic about africans with their voices.
And star academy is the best.
Hostility is bad, and it shows arabs as hamag, when we're really not.

No it's not. It's just those talentless people.

I honestly don't get album.
1. They are all about as bad as the wrst starac contestents except maybe 1 or 2 of them.
2. I think they may be singing playback half the time.
3. Razan or whatever her name is, is nothing compared to Hilda Khalifah. Or even Ayman.
4. I have no idea whats going onn. There is like 5 voting results per prime and I have no idea whats going onn. First they are showing votes between two on the same team, Then the team are like nominating someone, then the teams vote against each other. It is a terrible idea.
5. It's a complete battle of geography. Talent is 99% out of the question.
6. I don't even know what they are competing for.
7. Did I mention they sound terrible?
8. Superstar is better.
9. Star Academy is the Best by far and the ratings can tell you that!!!!
10. It's a complete starac knock off and they are tryng to make the same money/success.
11. It's even worse then Star Search(the crappy program MBC did a few years back)
12. I honestly hink arabs could be more entertained watching American Idol.
13. Did I mention it makes no sense?

Leb Chris:

For me it's enough that people from different religions and different national backgrounds agreed to live under one roof. That's a positive step in the right direction , especially considering their families would have to approve their decision. What Star Academy is doing or attempting to do is a good thing. Remember that the people that have the time and the energy to come on an entertainment blog that is by no means "well known" are not exactly the AVERAGE arab. The average arab watches the show, enjoys it, probably doesn't even vote, and moves on with his life after the show. The very small percent that are "active" in their nationalism should not be used as an excuse that people can't live together. I know hundreds of people that watch star academy, but I don't know any that participate in blogs/forums about it.

i dont think u guyz should be comparing album with staracademy cuz there is nothing in common between the both ...but to be honest album got a bit of mistakes ...cuz they had only 25 dayz to get ready for this show ...cuz it was another show before ahla soowt ..but they cancel it and put album instead ...so thats why there is mistakes...but i like the idea cuz its not only about the groups but its about the composers and everyone els so its waaay different from staracademy ...i think....

Wafa was a candidate from Syria along with Miriam Attallah.

hi waleg

at first there were 4 candidates:
ahmad
baha
soumaya
and wafa
this latter left staracademy 1 after the 1st prime
and she had an interview with tunisian newspaper, i remember at that time the journalist said he always called her and it was always her mom who replied
then wafa told the newspaper with which she made the interview that she did not and she won't regret the leaving of the show..

P.S i am sure of what i am said

Well yes it is probably aired to add spice to the show. You always talk about hostility between Arabs, but this kind of idiotic behaviour is not confined to Arabs alone!
There is always bound to be resentment and anger between Countries, especially between neighbouring ones that have ill-feelings and prejudices brought in by shared histories.
This happens among Asians or latinos for example. There are always overzealous nationilists all across the world, who like to display their pride in a ridiculous manner as shown by comments here on Starac topics.
Anyway even of the contestants were of the same nationality, they are likely to display such behaviour. It is a competition where stress, nerves and a clash of personalities are sure to influence their behaviour.
Watch these competitions with your stupid mode on, don't verthink or analyse their behaviour.
