Arabic music channels have taken their place in the audience's sacred list ... no house will go through a day without zapping to one or more music channel to listen & more importantly watch the video clips of Nancy Ajram, Haifa Wehbe & others.
The competition has become fierce among these channels, Rotana is the biggest in the domain, after which comes Melody, Mazzika & Nujoom. Soon, another will pop up ... MTV Arabiya! Will they be able to compete?
Rotana is controlling about 80% of the industry & that's a lot! What gives them the higher hand is that they produce and distribute, so they have full control of their chain of supply.
Did you know that Rotana produces an average of three clips a week?! Can other channels catch up & survive?
Well, some might be able to stay alive with the type of video clips they run; seduction, cleavage & lots of flesh ... clips that may be classifies as crap & songs that crack your eardrum rather than soothe your soul!
It seems this low-quality stuff has a big market & is making it's way!
What's your say about this issue? What channel do you watch & what do you think about the Arabic music industry?

Of course Prince waleed has an influnce a way or another in this issue:
- he is a good finance with no waiting for profits so they should stick to the good art despit of the commercial thinking
- as being a saudi prince he is inforced to stick to the arab customs
i think melody has a good chance trying to compete if it puts away for some time rotten songs with unpleasant views.
Moreover we find that very respectful channels such as the Khaleeji ones do not have many audience?????
maha, khalej channels don't geta lot of audience because most ppl like lebanese songs, and other stuff thatrotana puts on its general nd on its clip channel.
For me, out of all these channels, my ipod will always survive. haha.
I watch rotana, or sometimes some songs come up on lbc, future or mbc.
Arabic music industry is losing it because of the copies. They should make their cd's cheaper with some exclusive coverage like videos on the cd's. When i went jordan, i found it difficult to find an original cd. They should make copying illegal, but at the same time, cheaper cd's.
Moreover, all shops dont have the same prices for cd's. Instead of charging cheaper, they charge higher. Unlike in britain, you get offers sales, lower prices unlike in the arab world.
