A lot of the people who have gone on American Idol have had amazing voices but haven’t become such a huge deal as the recent vocally challenged contestant Sanjaya Malakar. Many have asked the question: why is the boy still on? Whilst some theories challenge the credibility of ‘American Idol’ claiming they keep him on for the attention he brings others claim that all Indian working in call centers are invading the phone lines in support of Sanjaya who happens to be an American Indian.

The former contestant Paris Bennett has another opinion she said : “We want to see him [Sanjaya] win because it'll kind of prove that 'American Idol' is kind of losing its taste, it kinda isn't going for talent anymore and more for popularity.” If you ask my opinion I think him staying on is a political statement, if he had been voted off when he deserved to be people would claim the show was racist.

Sanjaya has even grabbed the attention of political figures, when Senator Hillary Clinton was asked about him she said: "That's the best question I've been asked in a long time. Well, you know, people can vote for whomever they want. That's true in my election, and it's true on 'American Idol.' So why do you think Sanjaya is still strutting his ridiculous hair on ‘American Idol’?
