Remember last year when Saudi participant Sulafa from the fashion show Mission Fashion made it to CNN? This year Shatha Hassoun has made it to the international media arenas as well! There's a whole article about her & her participation in LBC Star Academy 4 on CNN. Isn't that cool?!
The article describes Shatha as an enthusiastic, charismatic & talented 26-year-old singer ... She has a mixed heritage; born in Morocco to an Iraqi father & a Moroccan mother.
The importance of her participation in Star Academy, isn't only revolving around her personal gain ... But how she has managed to do what politicians have failed to do, unite Iraqis abroad & inside Iraq, whether Sunnis or Shiites.
If Iraqi's can unite over a TV show, this means there's hope of them uniting for the higher cause ... A new & peaceful Iraq.

The article was great. Since I live in Britain I can tell you that everytime one watches the news, there is always the word "Iraq" mentioned, and is always linked to negative news e.g. explosions and blood. The more you hear of these thing, the more and stronger a reputation it grows for being just that. Here, Shaza proves that Iraq is not a place of no hope, like many in the West believe. It's a place that creates the most amazing people. Their history shows that.
History never changes.
Shaza is going to prove that, insha'allah.
I would love to see her win because she has the most amazing voice in the Academy.
But if she doesn't, it certainly doesn't mean that she hasn't.
