Yesterday & on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Invasion of Iraq, thousands of anti-war protesters flooded the streets of Manhattan. What do they all want? They want an immediate withdrawal of the U.S. troops from Iraq & an end to the funding of the Iraq war.
They were all shouting: "They say attack Iraq! We say fight back. End the War on Iraq."
Those protesters are from all age groups, from all walks of life & from all races ... There were union members, city workers, celebrities, students & everyday citizens like all of us.
It's interesting ... Because this shows that the American people want this war to end.
One protester said: "I'll march anytime against the war until the policy of the Bush administration changes." ... It seems that reflects the views of all the other protesters as well.
This walk wasn't the only one, there were other all over America & the world ... It was part of a global series of protests against the war that began on March 20, 2003. A war that has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Iraqis & thousands of American service members.
That's what we ask for as well ... END THE WAR ON IRAQ!

maybe we do need to end the war but while we are over there you need to support those who have enough guts to fight for your country
what do you mean we do NOT need to end the war?? im guessing your american? well your people are idiots i mean all you do is invade countries? i think the world would be a peaceful place with OUT america.
also your soliders are SICK i mean the rapping of girls, murders..ughh a shame the soliders are to the world and americans
im british and tunisian..and im fed up of america and england just invading i mean get a life you stupid countries
The war was illegal, meaning that there is no end to it, that's the solid truth.
Reasons for the War;
To stop "terrorism". Funnily enough, I remember an interview with Mandela on the BBC. Touching on the topic of terrorism, Mandela placed down the clear definition of what it is:
A terrorism is an invidual, or an organisation, or a state that enters the land of another in search of harm - something among those words.
So, really it is America and Britain, not the Arab World.
That doesn't really support an reason for, because really there is no strong enough reason or proof to back up why the war started.
There have been no documents that terrorists are in Iraq, or that they have weapons of mass distruction, or any of such.
Bush just seemed to have wanted and longed to continue and end the story that his father didn't. Now he killed Saddam, please do not argue with what I am about to say. But Bush is playing God, he knows he can do what he wants, when he wants. And the worst part is, no one will stand in his way. To pick a phone, and send a Happy Eid message to Iraqis by implicitly implying that the time is right for Saddam to be killed, is haram. He knew what he said, and he knew that it would cause greater division not just in Iraq, but beyond.
No matter how many people protest, he will not listen. He doesn't care about the peole who die. He isn't suffering to know or sympathise with them. So, while people are deing, he is sitting at home with his feet up the sofa watching TV.
Justin,
A country can fight for itself, and doesn't need the help of America. If there is a problem the country itself will TRY to solve it. The same applies to America, it needs to solve it's own problems e.g. the destruction of Hurrican Katrina, there is no sign of improvement.
No offense, whether you have guts or not, you have no way of avoiding war. So you are purely thrown in to it, even if you have a wife and a baby due to be born you have no option. So while the American people suffer and dies, the American president plays golf.
Isn't a little ironic?!?!
I agree with lou lou , why doesnt bush send his daughters to the war huh? N america is now trying to ignite a war with iran too , what is its ultimate aim seriously ? Y isnt it picking on korea when korea itself is producing nuclear weapons and had a trial of one of its rockets that was about to his US soil !!
* * * Well said Lou Lou. Bush thinks he is playing God (forgive me God), but actually he is playing the Devil (if not the Devil himself) . . for me it is massive (collective crime) against all Iraqi people & against the American soldiers too (which by the way from different backgrounds & races, some of them aren't American citizens yet).
* For me, No excuse is valid for any war against any nation.
* God is Light, Is Love, Is Prosperity, Is Justice , Is Forgivness, Is Tolerance, Is Charity,Is Wisdom, Is Mercy. God is powerful & always in charge.
* So all the wars, all the terrorism acts round the world, all the crimes fits only in Devil's Agenda & his followers!!!!
* Our prayers goes to Iraqi people & for Global Peace.
Peace, Hope & Faith be with all,
Well Im not american but i live here and let me tell everybody that most people here oppose this war and Bush. 78% of the population is against the war but Bush refuses to listen. He is a Fascist, and this is a Fascist regime. I only feel bad for the Iraqi people and for these poor young men and women who are out there killing people at the orders of a man who is incompetent and has no idea what he is doing, and also sacrificing their lives for a war that was started based on false information (weapons of mass destruction).
The other thing i find funny is that Bill Clinton was impeached for what he did in his personal life, something which has nothing to do with the country, but Bush is still in power after starting this war which he had no reason to start. not only that but he continues to send in more troops after every single American is opposing it. is this democracy? No! Is this what all americans want and immigrants in this country as well? No
this man should be taken out of office before he starts a war with Venezuela or Iran, and destroys the whole world out of ignorance and lack of capability to lead this country and come to peaceful terms without using force.
'END THE WAR ON IRAQ!'
I'm an egyptian living in america, i'm a naturalized citizen meaning that i wasnt born here.
I hate the war and my prayers are with the iraqi ppl and the american soldiers whose lives are being put at risk for a no reason.
to bubblegum- clinton was never impeached he was only put on trial, if he was impeached he wouldn't have finished his term. But i understand what u meant, clinton was put on trial for a reason that had nothing to do with his job while Bush is butchering lives but no movement has been made to impeach him except by some protestors.
Saloomy- thanx for clearing it up, but yeah thats exactly what i meant.
loooool war is gonna end!! r u kidding me thats NEVER i mean who lets free money go away. i live here in USA ppl think its funny but its really not.. but i just wish one day something like 911 happen again to them soo they can feel what Iraq is going thru. but a bigger not not just 2 building.. stupid ppl made a big deal off of that.. damn white ppl
Shazna,
I'm glad that you agree with me.I'm glad that you also noticed the fact that all he focuses on when it come to nuclear weapons, is Iran and not Korea. Korea has shown the world what it has by setting off trial tests. I don't know what his problem is with the Middle East. It's like he has this dream of destroying the Arab World, or should I say Muslims. Remember last Summer, they supplied Israel. And claimed with full happiness that it could target any country in the Arab World. Supporting the Isrealis with full pride and happiness claiming that they had the right to defend themselves, when it was them that attacked another country first.
I could go on forever about this, but I won't because there is one person who does a better job than me.
On to: youtube.com
In the Search box,
type: George Galloway
Click:
Galloway on Israel and lebanon 06/08/2006
It's worth watching!
I absolutely admire that guy. He always voices his opinion, and in a fearless way. And this was exception.
The worst thing is, they supplied weapons to country that has nuclear weapons. Did you know, that Isreal prevents any plane or flying object from flying over the grounds of the nuclear creation.
Where is the sense in that?!?!
While still on youtube.com
Go to the Search box,
type: Israel nuclear
and you should get many results.
Watch them and learn the truth.
There's one video that shows an interview in BBC where they threaten Iran to stop. Soob'hanna Allah.
They definitely know how to play about with the media. All the attention on the Middle East, and they only look at Iraq, but not Israel.
And America are also playing alongside them.
When you get the attention of the media, you can get the attention of the world. Here, Isreal and America focus on Iran, but not come forward to claim that they have it.
Such cowards!!
Tia,
Hope you're doing well :)
I liked the part where you said:
"For me, No excuse is valid for any war against any nation."
You sumed it up well. For anything that holds a large scale of destruction id not worth it if there is no reason for it.
I mentioned in my earlier comments the true defintion of Terrorism, that was said by Mandela. And let's face it, it is mis-used a lot. America uses it on Iraqis, even though it's the Americans that are on Iraqi soil and torturing the people.
So, while we are on the topic of America and Iraq. Really, Mandela implicitly implied that Americans are terrorists. I'm sure many agree.
But terrorism, as in the true meaning, is all over the world. But, for example, here in Britain an British/Iraqi would carry out a bomb. He would be part of a group, and in there is a 100% British blood. In the news, people would focus on the Iraqi, and the Arabs more than the British. Media only foceses on Islam an Terrorism.
They fail to understand that Islam and Terrorism are two different issues, not the same. There is no religion that encourages setting a bomb in a postbox! Really stupid and false information about Islam is always spread around the World, and seriously damaging.
jay,
When I said the war is never going to end. I meant that the Americans will never leave the Iraqi soil. If they leave now, they are loosers. for Bush, that is something he doesn't want to be seen as. Even though the whole world knows that America is not winning.
They will do what Israel did on Lebanon; Remain on the soil.
I know that there are people who do find war funny. But, there are also others who don't. Those who do feel for those that have had their whole lives turned upside down. Those who don't, don't feel anything and have no heart.
I live here in Britain, Scotland. And my friends total accept me for who I am. They like to talk about the issue every now and again. It doesn't bother me. I know they are against the war. The only thing they credit America for is the shopping.
And one of my friends, Laura, has a next door neighbour who works in the green zone of Iraq. She always speaks of him and his opinions of the war- and it's never positive. He is disgusted and shocked by the behaviour of the Americans. And even more about the amount of times they kill Brits in a "friendly fire".
"damn white ppl" - racist and unneccessary.
Thanks lou lou ,
I really agree with every word Mr George had said . The american media always covers the israel pat of the war , the israelis getting hurt , sympathizing and empathizing with them , when palestinians are getting killed every single day n u never see it on the news coverage . N if u go through the comment for the same video , u can see that all ppl who oppose what Galloway had said n beleives in r dumbfounded n have nothing to say but swear !
I would like you to see this video on youtube when ur free :
Desmond Tutu Talks to Alliance of Civilisations
URL link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvYs8tFZ_7U
N thanks once again for the 2 videos :)
Shazna,
You're very welcome for the videos. I hope others go on to check it out, not just Arabs but the whole world. The truth is the one thing that breaks through hard moments.
While you thanked me, I give it back to you. I had to do a little research about Desmond Tutu after watching the video. A Noble Prize Winner, I believe he is, how could I possibly not have known of him. Earlier this year, February, he even won the Gandhi Peace Prize. This guy is kinda cool.
And that video that you advised to watch was very good. I liked the fact that even though he is a Bishop he could still feel pain of different parts of the world, especially in the Arab.
He was aware that there was a "growing tension between the Islamic World and the West". And this guy isn't even an Arab to notice such a thing.
But, he is black and has suffered in the past because of the racical discrimination. He even expressed that from what he saw with his own eyes of how the Israelis treat the Palestinians at the borders. And related his experience of discrimination with the way Palestinians were treated. (that was another video, I thought it would be good to raise that point because it shows that no one has forgotten Palestine, and others sympathise with them)
He clearly said that we need to accept and tolerate one anothers' beliefs. Show understanding and apprecaition to one another.
"Many many many people in the world have restented the fact the the powerful, the wealthy have ruled the ruste. And also that they have carried out polocies that humiliated the less powerful. We won't win the war against terror, so called, as long as there are conditions that made people desperate.....
And when people feel emasculated, feel made powerless, treated as if they didn't really count all of that contributes to a sense of being an enmity with the one who caused the shot."
Well said and applies so much to not what just goes on in Iraq, but also around the world.
Thanks for the video ;)
