Daniel Radcliffe a.k.a. Harry Potter … and just recently he’s now also taken a new identity when he played the lead role in the London West End stage play “Equus”. The play written by Peter Shaffer is about a young man, Alan Strang, who was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for maiming horses. Taking this role highlighted a new side to Daniel Radcliffe, one that is so different from being the bespectacled boy called Harry Potter. This time Daniel is seen on stage in an intelligent, provocative and even controversial light, especially that he had a nude scene in the play. It’s a nude scene with co-star Joanna Christie where he had to be naked for approximately 15 minutes until before the play ends.

Daniel Radcliffe’s efforts and performance were all worth it because the critics were impressed. Some of the critics’ remarks about his performance were “BRILLIANT RADCLIFFE THROWS OFF HARRY POTTER'S CLOAK” and “NO POTTER HORSEPLAY FROM RADCLIFFE, JUST FINE ACTING”.

This portrayal of a new character will definitely open up a wider horizon for Daniel Radcliffe as an actor. By doing the play he has proven his worth as a mature actor and that he can really act.
