Pascale: Voice or Breast?

Pascale Machaalani new video clip

Although I listen to less capable voices such as Melissa, Rola and Cyrine Abdelnour, I always appreciate a powerful voice. Just looking at my music collection, It is obvious, I have Asalah, Latifa, Fadel Chaker, Nour Mehanna, Shahenaz, Dina Hayek, Sabah, Um Kolthoum, Najwa Karam, Hussain El Jassmi, Nawal, Zekra, and other great voices. Singers like these don’t even need to think of applying the “sex sells,” strategy that is applied by virtually every other Arab singer and “singer” today. However, sometimes even the greatest of singers can lose their sanity.

I’m speaking about Pascale Machaalani who shocked me with her “brave new look”! As I watched the Awal Mara commercial on Rotana TV, I jumped when I heard “Pascale Machaalani”. However, when I saw her I was shocked. Was this the Pascale I loved, with the soulful voice and amazing music? Pascale was wearing something that could only be called decent if Haifa or a belly dancer were wearing it. This is how Pascale will appear in her new Mirna Khayat video, Mish Maa’oul. Pascale wears a long skirt with a top that only barely covers her breast and stomach. Watch the video on the Rotana network, do you really think something like this is necessary for a talented artist like Pascale? I understand that pop artists like Haifa need to this, but why Pascale?

This is a HUGE shame for our culture because we were never like this and these people really disgrace us! They clearly don't respect themselves and think they're "cute" or something when they do this but all it is is a bunch of BS. Something has to be done to them cuz they're crossing the boundaries.

That is one vulgar dress. There is a difference between sex appeal and vulgarity, she doesn't look sexy. Too bad, she really didn't need to do that even if she is being overshadowed by lesser talented colleagues.

There is something different about her face.
I think she is ageing, and thus going to great lenghts to change her looks.
Whatever she does she would always be an unattractive giraffe.
As for Masrya. What is about "our culture"? She is a Lebanese christian whose "culture" is quite different from yours.
We dress and behave differently. Please respect the individuality of each country. Sharing the same official language does not imply "cultural" similarities.
By the way, why don't you go preach people like fifi abdo, dina, boosy samir and the lot.
    Is this your egyptian culture?

To Lebchris, when I say our culture I say arabs as a whole. We arabs have a beautiful culture whether you are a muslim or christian and we have respect for one another, again whether we are muslim or christian. too bad your mind is limited in its capacity to think in such an ignorant manner. don't place a stereotype on lebanese christians saying they dress differently n act differently cuz every group has its people that are different n pascale is one of them that dresses in a provocative way.
If you think egyptian culture is about fifi n boosi then u have no knowledge about egypt. Masr om el donya whether u like it or not, n if u have nothing good to say about it, then its better not to even say anything. It's people that think more about the differences than the similarities that create such havoc. Shame on you..

lebchris, what is the hell is wrong with u? u r giving a bad reputation 4 lebanon that we all know more respectful than that, u hate any arab country other than lebanon. whichever lebanese star is very hot, talented in ur opinion and any other Egyptian or 7'aleeji stars r ugly ducklings with no voice and talent. ur parents didnt teach u manners. and I will add my voice 2 sara:
    SHAME ON YOU.

Oh people please..who talks now about muslims or christians..come on we live in 2007 can some people be more open minded these days!? if u dress like pascale doesnt mean u have to be christian..haifa wehbe is muslim and shi3a and she dresses worse than pascale or whatever so it really doesnt matter.. dont bring up religion here as a part of ur dress code, its a matter of being popular and famous now, and the motto that many people and more in the music/acting or whatever career say is "if u want to be famous, you have to reveal ur body and get plastic surgery" so it doesnt matter from what country you are or what religion, this is how these people wanna be famous and get money not only in lebanon, but in many countries in the middle east!

    Thank you!

    aquafina,
I completely agree with you. This has got connection with religion. When people choose to dress up like that, it is purely because they want to. Therefore, it's not related to religion, it's related to human.

Unfortunately, in the crazy world of the famous, they feel that they have to have plastic surgery and reveal skin to be categorised as famous.
It's all about the pressure of looking "perfect", even though there is no such thing. Nowadays, there are Artists who have the image, but not the talent. Yet, they are doing so well. They're not just selling singles, but also albums!
The world has become more obsessed with image. It’s really silly, and true.

But, Pascale has got the talent and the image. But why is she going to those extremes? Well, if an Artist does so, it’s purely to get attention and create a buzz about themselves. Now, everyone knows about the “new Pascale” image , and the new video clip and album. I think that it is not only a way of advertising different looks and styles, but also showing the new and daring side of themselves. In which they hope others that they can reflect in their work.
It’s the type of thinking that says: new image, new you.
For example, Nancy Ajram. Her plastic surgery and her album “Ya Salam” showed a very different side of her if you compare to the old Nancy Ajram and her debut album “Sheel 3yonak 3ani”. And not only did it get a lot of attention, it also did well.

I don't like her image. I feel that she's trying too hard. It's like she's trying to be someone else.
    That's my personal opinion.

    I was meant to say:
This has got NO connection with religion.

Sorry about that, I'm in such a rush :)

    One more thing...
    iraqi-princess,
I agree, Shaza is amazing. She'll make it to the finals. Her and Imed, possibly Carlo or Marwa. But, she has to win. She's got the best voice in the entire Academy.
