I like Tina a lot.
She's cute, well-educated, trilingual, a good singer, musician and dancer.
She is a bit stuck-up and serious but that can be worked on to loosen up.
By the way, she is the first Sunni Lebanese to ever participate in Star Academy. I think she is a good representative of her community.
Go Tina.

Tina is muslim Sunni. Yamout is a well known Sunni family.
lebchris
| February 7, 2007 12:11 PM
Indeed. The Yammout are a prominent Sunni family from Beirut.
While the Lebanese contestants in Star Academy for the 4 editions where overwhelmingly Christians, namely Maronites, the only Muslims to participate were two pretty Shiite ladies: Katia Harakeh in Starac2 and Maya Neemeh in Starac3. Tina Yammout is the first Sunni in Star Academy. Interestingly enough no Lebanese Muslim males ever participated.

ya i agree she is a good representative to muslims(if she is) by having her pants showing each prime dance is a good representative, and why have we got some people saying shiaa and sinna, just say she is a Muslim, u don't hear in western shows people saying o, she is protestant and she is catholic etc., and that's because they know if they start doing that a small civil war between Christians could start.
and in relation to th topic ya tina looks nice in these pic.'s

First, I like Tina a lot, she's a nice girl and I admire how she's good friends with everybody and she didn't deserve those cruel comments on the SMS night. Shatha and Sally are the ones should get negative responses over their disgusting low-class behavior.
Second, I've got a question about Tina's dad because I noticed that she only talks to her mother and boyfriend. Is he dead or are her parents divorced? Please reply and thank you.
lebchris
| February 7, 2007 4:12 PM
In the introductory clips of the contestants at the first prime this year, we saw that Tina lost her dad when she was 5 year old. It seems that her mom never remarried and Tina lives with her in their neat home being her only child.
That what made me admire her all the more. She is an only child that never grew up to be a brat.
Her mom did a good job raising her. She is now an AUB student pursuing art classes.
Tina you rock.

lol faroo7a so what if she celebrates christmas? muslims can (and sometimes do) celebrate xmas too theres nothing wrong with that.
anyway, christian or muslim i like her! although her voice does get annoying sometimes.
lebchris
| February 7, 2007 10:55 PM
In Lebanon, many Muslims, especially in Beirut celebrate Xmas.
I have Sunni friends who are by no means secular, who even set up a Xmas tree in their home during the whole festive season.
Come to think of it, celebrating xmas is not anti-islamic, since the Coran itself describes the conception of Jesus and his birth (Surat Maryam).

Not that it makes much difference & not that it should. Tina's father is Muslim (Sunni), her Grandfather is a well known figure in Lebanon. Now her mother is Christian. So Tina is a bit of both which is great. At the end, she is Lebanese. I think she's great. Multi-Talented. She does not have the best voice in the Academy, but overall, she's a good contestant. Good Luck Tina!

It doesn't bother me if Tina was Muslim or Christain because, I'll be voting for talent and not religion.
I've always wondered, what is the difference between, Sunni and Shia?
They both believe in Allah. So what is the difference? Please someone answer me.
I don't see what is wrong with the idea of Muslims celebrating Christmas. In my country, there is a Church built right next to the Mosque. It doesn't bother anyone. Everyone gets on very well.
In fact, when it is Christmas, the Muslims celebrate with the Christains, and when it's Eid, the Christains celebrate with the Muslims. Just because one celebrates a religious festival of another religion doesn't mean that they believe it. It just means that they respect it.
That's a big difference.
That is something that is to be treasured, respecting one anothers' religion.

Please keep your religion discussions at home, if you have a problem with a certain show, simply don't watch it!
Religion is a very sensitive subject and unfortunately things already tensed between star academy students fans from all over the Arab World...
If you find offensive comments, help us to remove them by notifying us by email at least instead of criticizing us :(!
Thank you all for your understanding.

Waleg,
I understand that religion is a very sensitive issue to discuss.
I hope you didn't get me wrong when I asked that question. I deliberately ended my comment in that style in hope that the person who replies would reply in that appropriate manner.
Banning a person for discussing religion is a little too tough. We don't know how they would respond. I can understand why you chose to do this because there are people out there that simply love being rude. But, not all are like that.
I thought it would be right of me to post you this comment and hope that all that is
mis-understood is clear :)
