Carole Samaha: Lady in Red

Carole Samaha new video clip

In her latest video clip, Lebanese singer Carole Samaha wore a sexy red dress that a lot of people criticized including “El Rahabna”. Carole defends herself saying that she is not doing that on purpose.

She says that she only intends to present new ideas and present herself in different new ways that can reveal her feminist sides that any woman in the world have and that she doesn’t need to use such methods to gain success. The video clip is directed by Terry Farn who is convinced as well that Carole must be original in every video clip!

Carole said that she is used to such criticism and that if she made something that is not original or something that she did it before she would be criticized even more…

She believes that she had success in “Etala’ Feya Heik” and other songs as much as she had success when working with El Rahabna but she is still imprisoned in “Besbah El Alf El Thaleth” in people’s minds.

I must be missing something...What's wrong with the dress? It looks like a normal red dress to me and she looks great in it. It doesn't show near enough skin as people are making it out to be.

I love Carole Samaha and her voice is powerful and amazing she is not those that need to show skin to be famous. I think she is already famous if she got my attention while I live in the U.S . I am not familiar with what is going on in the middle East. As a person who lived in the west almost all my life I think I can make good judgement in how provokative a dress can be and I think her dress is provokative and revealing.

It is not the dress but the way she was posing in some of the other pictures I saw. I doubt it is about presenting new ideas but about being able to compete in today's Arab music industry. An industry where you succeed using your looks and sex appeal. The woman needs to stay in the spotlight and it is obvious that this is the only way to do so.
