Afrah is the name of the new young Kuwaiti actress who has seen the way to stardom. All she has to do now is follow the yellow brick road.
She's mainly been playing in theater such as "Al Nahar Al Mashoor" which was a big hit during last Eid, in addition to "Amel Fe Mamlaket Al Namil" where she played a gang member preparing to overthrow the government. After her theater experience, she's now moved onto TV shows where she's participating in the social series "Zohoor Omri" playing the role of a cute teenaged girl who goes through many ups and downs.
Isn't it interesting how new actresses pop up out of nowhere in countries like Lebanon and Egypt but when one comes out of a conservative Gulf state, it makes the news?
Are actresses like Afrah going to change this norm?
Probably the gulf countries will become more tolerant towards women and respect them how they are with a veil or not.
They should follow the example of other Arab countries like, Lebanon, Maghreb Arabi, Egypt and (UAE), women have much more freedom their than in the whole Gulf countries.
is this a prank or real?
I like verything that has been said, but wehen it comes to saying that Kuwait is a conservative state, or when you call the Gulf a "conservative section" of the Arab world, that makes me destracted and worried of how many people have a wrong mind set in the wrong direction. Some peop[le should smell the morning coffee and watch how the world has changed 50 years ago...and way to fo to Afrah, where in Kuwait we've got dozens who are waiting in the line of stardom, and that's not new about us in Kuwait, i'm sorry to say this, but Waleg should know better than to post this article in this way......If we had a singing dancing ugly body showing Lebaneser, would the world die? NO! You should be used to that by now, and you should be used to having the "conservative state of KUWAIT" send all of its beloved people to stardom and expect them to be the new rom-models of Hollywood.
What is said in this article means that the "conservative satate of Kuwait" does not have any actors or actresses or female singers, open your eyes and watch some TV, or maybe listen to the radio sometime. Maybe our actors arent that amazing to the Lebanese culture, but you should watch the LBS, when they put on the KUWAITI series from Ramadan till this day. Oppositely to that, most of the Arabian culture does not pay attention on the Lebanese series...give me one actress that is being watched on to this day...I'm sorry but you have started all this....

Isn't Faisal aware of knowing that the UAE is part of the Gulf. Are you not aware thatr the gulf countries aree free and the women's rights have approached more than any other country?? Are you aware that some countries in Magreb al Arabi and Egypt and maybe Lebanon, the woman over theuir are treated like soldiers. Please give me one country that has female delegates in their parlemeant and a woman that decides and changes a whole country. I am sorry, but Kuwait is probably 200% free than any other country. I know what you mean, what you mean is that we respect our women and give them a chance to live a better life than a woman, we respect them and consider them as genuine jewls over our bodies. What you don't understand is that the media is playing a huge role in our daily life, where we think that many countries are tolerating and killing their people, or maybe not giving them a chance to live..thant has to change, and pleaqse chech your information before doing anything dumber than this, and before accusing any country, please check on how things are going on in your country. Please never accuse, so that people like me wouldn't accuse you in somethin TRUE and harmful....

I know that UAE are part of the Gulf but I actually put them between ( ).
And I was talking about religiuos rights, once I saw a documentary about a Kuwaity newsreporter.
First she presented the news withouth a veil, afterwards the media leaders decided not to show it on television. The women was forced to wear her veil!. I have nothing against the Gulf countries you know, but they should be more tolerant towards women, e.g.n I was told that in Saudi arabia a woman can not drive a car (probably they can now, please tell me if they did).
Faysal,
I am not that dumb to lie to me aboyut combining or maybe linking both Saudi Arabia and Kuwait together. that isn't fair for both sides. Again, Kuwaiti women arent "pushed" into wearing a "veil" as you have seen the Kuwaiti actress that joined AL Wadi The Summer before this one, she had been dancing and showing off her body. Zahra Al Kharji and many like her have been having as blast. Maybe that documentary movioe you had been watching is totally faklse. Its judging people incorrectly, including their countries.
If Kuwait and the kuwaitis were religeous, they would bbe in that type of manner on a moderate path. Where they never makje a woman or even a man to do something he/she does not want to do. People like you should knowe much better about what they post, and waleg shhould never l;et the people who have less fortunate information to post on something bigger and greater than them. Please stop creating rumors and foolish topics from somewhere greater than what your mind can think of.

Sorry FSK,I did not create these rumors, the French did it.
Ha ha ha...am I supposed to laugh right now...sorry, but the laugh isn't coming out....try later.....if the problem was concerning your home country, you would of faught and faught till you die, but unfortunately, uyou and people like you want everything from supporting countries, but at the end, they forget what they eat or take. ok, i will be ignoring your last comment about the "French" because it makes no sense first of all, and second of all, you should remember Kuwait by the love and freedom, and stop the rumors and be ashamed of yourself....
