Jordan hosted an international meeting recently to discuss the funding and implementation of the Two Seas Channel project (the Dead Sea and the Red Sea) with participations from Palestine and Israel in addition to some European countries.
Experts in the Arab-Israeli conflict are calling the project as the second biggest project the Jewish state has undertaken since its creation in 1948.
The project aims to raise the water level of the Dead Sea as experts say the lever there is constantly falling. One day, the Dead Sea will be really dead!
The idea is that a pipeline be built directing water from the Red Sea all the way back 180 KM to the Dead Sea, a project costing over $9 Million which donor countries like the US and Canada have already paid for.
But Arab experts in this field have said that this project is a danger to Egypt as the fall in the water level of the Red Sea will affect the Sues Channel directly. Egypt's economy is largely dependent on the Sues channel for foreign ships entering it.
Do you think that this whole project is another Israeli trick?
What are the Israelis really up to? First they take over Palestine, they then try to destro Lebanon, and then they want to carry out this project. They are up to something- and let's face it, it is not something good because it never is.
They want to make this project but not want to make peace and leave the Palestinians live.
Am I the only person suspicious of what is really going on?
dont worry lou lou.im suspicious as well.i would think they are trying to create conflicts between Egypt and Jordan..but why would they do that if the other end of the dead sea is Israeli?
im confused..would someone explain this
israelis are not trying to control the whole region, but simply looking for a solution that will not only benefit the israel side of the dead sea, but the jordanian one as well. might i add it has been both jordanian and israeli causes for the dead sea's running dry. diverting rivers in jordan and extreme mineral harvesting (from both sides!) has caused the impact of a drying dead sea. read some text books. check out nobel laureates and israeli contributions to society and then you will understand how inane and ridiculous your thoughts of "israeli plots" are.
I DON'T THINK IT'S AN ISRAELI PLAN MORE THAN IT'S A COORDENATED PLAN BETWEEN JORDAN & ISRAEL .. THE SAY OF THE DANGER THAT THIS PROJECT PRESENTS IS RATHER SILLY TO BE TRUE.
I'D ADVICE TO STOP LIVING IN THE CONSPIRECY THEORY WORLD AND START LOOKING FOR YOUR PATH IN THE WORLD BY FOLLOWING YOUR INTEREST AND STRENGTHENING YOUR COUNTRIES AND ABOVE ALL BELEIVING IN ALLAH IS ESSENTIAL FOR YOUR SELF MONITOR SYSTEM.
LONG LIVE PALESTINE...
Hi. Hope you are all doing well.
First, I’m sorry, I do admit there were some parts in the Article that I did not understand fully. Thanks Kak, you have made it a lot more clearer to me. I now understand how important the Dead Sea is to BOTH sides.
Second, I appreciate your comments but I have somethings I would like to pick up on:
“…ridiculous your thoughts of "israeli plots"”. It may very well be to you but, Kak, I found it quite interesting when you typed “Israelis are not trying to control the whole region,”
I myself - which I’m sure I’m not alone - have learnt not to trust the Israelis. Look at this summer alone, Palestine AND Lebanon. The amount of wars, murders and crimes that they have committed are beyond belief.
This was followed by “but simply looking for a solution…”. I don’t know if I made this point clear enough in my comment above, but it is strange that they want to do this project and not make peace. It’s as if carrying out this project is far more important than forming peace. That’s where most of my suspicion comes from. I hope that makes things clear.
I think that if anything needs to be done, peace must be the first above everything else. That’s the “solution”. I’m sure that everyone would agree with me on that. Once peace is established and people (in this case, the Palestinians) can live a normal and healthy life. Then yes, allow any project with other Arab countries to move forward.
I believe that peace should be the main priority in the Arab World.
Once achieved, we can learn to accept and respect one another. We can live side by side peacefully.
That is my main wish.
And from that point, things become a lot more easier and straight-forward. And it would also stop people like myself living in a little bubble of suspicion, because by then we would have learnt to trust one another. We would live a beautiful and peaceful life. That would be lovely, wouldn’t it? Hope you guys are constantly praying for that day. :)
But looking at the world now, we don’t seem to be moving towards that dream. It’s times like these that I cry because I feel so helpless watching other Muslims in the Arab World suffer. That is always the point that I feel so blessed to be a Muslim, because I know I can turn to Allah. And one day he will make things change.
So, in some sense, I do feel sad, angry and betrayed by the world (especially Israel and America) and the way that we have been treated unfairly, but Allah is Mighty and no one can beat the Mighty one.
It may seem that I am holding something against Israel- I do not intend to at all! But sometimes different emotions mix up and make me feel this way. I don’t know how to explain it, and I don’t know if you understand me.
Abul-jooj, I hope all this also explains why it can be hard for individuals like myself to “STOP LIVING IN THE CONSPIRECY THEORY WORLD”. It is always a lot more easier said than done.
I hope that this is a start of a good discussion and not an aggressive verbal argument.
I have seen other Articles that have displayed nothing but rude insults between certain individuals. There is no need for it. It is completely unnecessary. We are only expressing our views. So please don’t take things the wrong way. And most importantly, think before you type anything. No one should be offended by what is to be read. Much appreciated. :)I have respected your opinions, so please respect mine. Thank you.
Wow... I didn't realise how much I had typed up! I'm not the chatty sort of person, but I do like to have a say in certain big issues.
Suprisingly, it feels quite good getting all these emotions and opinions out. hehehe :)
Quotes from the article,
"The idea is that a pipeline be built directing water from the Red Sea all the way back 180 KM to the Dead Sea, a project costing over $9 Million which donor countries like the US and Canada have already paid for. But Arab experts in this field have said that this project is a danger to Egypt as the fall in the water level of the Red Sea will affect the Sues Channel directly."
First, The pipeline would lower the level of the Red Sea. What a joke, LOL.
Second, Why build 180KM pipeline, where you can build a 50KM pipeline from the Meditteranean Sea instead???
My 2 cents.
oh and kak lets not forget the plot government employed Israeli agents did to their own citizen,Mordechai vanunu.
That's a really good point ZeeOne. It's nice to know that i'm not the only one suspicious and annoyed.
hell will be an ice rink before the egyptian public allows israel of all countries to do something that could hurt our beautiful country in any way. what do they think they are doing? they couldnt keep sinai so now theyv got this planned?
Hi Friends in Middle east.
In a situation like this there is allways suspections, but the reason for a watersupplementation to the Dead sea is necessarely due to the shrinking sealevel.
This is a fact. no gimmik.
Why 180Km from Red sea and not 50 Km from Med?
Topographic reason.
I guess that the elevation/watershed between Med and Dead sea is much higher.
Water is heavy. 1Kg per Liter.
If you must lift it over 120m it is heavy, if you must lift it over 1000m is much heavyer.
Distanz is not the big problem by Liquid.
Expensif is it to pump it up.
