Back from the World Music Awards in London, Elissa isn't enjoying the spoils of her victory. She won the award for highest sales in the Middle East but she sure isn't feeling high. She was faced with a swarm of press accusing her of buying the award and not earning it. She was so upset with the accusations she couldn't hide her emotions and lashed out at the press.
The allegations arouse from Hussein Al Jasmi who said that the award was offered to him first for a large sum of money which he turned down. And as you can expect, the press naturally pointed the finger at poor little Elissa who had no comment.
I wonder!
Now that they should mention it, I guess there are a number of other artists out there who might rightfully deserve the award more. Nancy Ajram is who first comes to my mind in addition to Fadil Shakir, Amr Diab and others.
Do you think that Elissa actually does deserve it and won in all fairness or do you think someone else deserves it more?

First of all, i liked elisa more after her last album.. and i think it was great.. But..!!
We arabs do not need awards that are paid for.. Its better for our arab singers to be known just in the middle east, if to be known world wide costs a lot of money (1 million $ elisa ahh..??)
.. I think there are many other singers that deserve this award more than elisa.. And yeahh..!! Elissa could have bought this award..!! Its not something impossible.. I mean she has the money she has everything..!! Why not?!
After all, how would elisa feel when getting such an award with out earning it and deserving it..!! I mean.. i dont consider this award something soo speciall..!

Elissa does not deserve to have won the award coz she cannot sing and she is so boring.Nancy Ajram should have won the award this year and also last year.
i really don't think that she bought the award, she earned it she had a great album this year, i think she deserves it more than anyone else, she did a great job on handling the event, she spoke with her heart and that is a great singer..she said in an interivew that she would have supported any other singer who had won that award.. and that is a fact..
Ofcourse elissa deserves the award becoz she worked hard on herself so much tht I really liked her last album which contains beautiful songs like bastanak, kermalak, law kan.....

now honestly i dont listen to elissa or the hussein guy.first of all,hussein needs evidence to back him up as to how he said he was 'offered' the award for a sum of money.now i that wouldve happened everyone and every artist would've done that.i dont see why you people think she doesnt deserve it when she is known internationally and has sung music with international artists.i dont also see how you people think nancy ajram should've won it when she still isnt known internationally outside the arab world...now remember this is an international world music award ceremony and elissa is more likely to win this than nancy ajram.hussien is just another fat guy from the gulf states who isnt satisfied with the amount of attention he gets worldwide but has all the money he needs in his country as all khaleeji people do. so he decided to set this succesful,beautiful young face up.period.

Why does that not surprise me? Here's why:
She stops singing for a couple of years and then when he finally gets an album out, everyone goes crazy over it. She's not the best Arab singer you know. I do believe she bought the award. Ya2ni you're telling me that out of all these singers, she is the best! NO WAY! There are many greater singers. I think Nancy Agram should have won. She clearly enjoys more popularity and success than Elissa. And the fact that she lashed out at the press serves as evidence proving that she did buy the award. Otherwise, she would have been calm and reserved in answering their questions and setting things straight. I don't think it's fair or even right that she won. I think Hussein Al-Jasmi's song are nicer. She is not very diligent in her work unlike other singers. And featuring her in the World Cup was just to have more and more attention. So after all this rambling, no I don't think she deserved or even truly got the award. Hopefully next time, they'll give it to someone who truly deserves it. Thanks Zayed. Take care.

Raya, I see where you're coming from but it's the person's first steps that counts. You and I can both agree that Nancy is more successful in the Arab world. Elissa is but not like her. If Nancy would choose to sing internationally, she would be more famous that Elissa, no question. A9lan, she already is. Nancy is more consistent. This is just my personal opinion. You don't need to agree with mine and neither I with yours. So "us people" will keep saying what we think. It isn't about whether she bought it or not. Even though she didn't, I think, and I think many agree, that she is good but not the best. There is no doubt about that. What's wrong with that Raya is that, as I said, she is not consistent like Nancy and other singers. And by this it implies to me that she may not care all that much about her career. You can say she does but I don't believe it. Her new album is not to die for. There's no problem with her representing us but you have to accept that she is not the most successful singer. Nancy has more successful songs out there and so she deserves to win, not Elissa. Who's songs does everyone keep singing? Nancy's or Elissa's? I think you know the answer. Elissa has ridicule songs and she keeps repeated again and again. Her videos like a holy crap. Every time she sing with some guys in England or English men she do act strange and dancing like a monkey. Don’t like her a lot. She sings bastanak over and over until my head blow agh. Nancy Ajram is way better and she should win, she deserve it.
This award had nothing to do with who was the better singer. They calculate the number of record sales a particular singer has in the given year and Elissa won selling the most albums. That doesn't mean she is regarded as being the better singer than all the rest. It just means she sold more records than them that's all.

I'm not in a nice situation here because I like both Elissa and Nancy Ajram.
Last year, Elissa definetly deserved it. Ahla Dounya was a beautiful album. That was the album that made me love her music. I thought that the melodies and the lyrics were great. In comparison to Bastanak, I still prefer Ahla Dounya over it. Her videos are always very chic and elegant.
Whereas, Nancy Ajram's latest album Ya Tabtab, is brilliant. In comparison with her previous album there are a couple of new sounds that you normally don't hear from Nancy for example, Mushtaga Leik. But she pulled it off amazingly well. Her Videos are always sweet.
Therefore, Nancy should have deserved this album because she tried something different. Whereas, Elissa stuck to the same things. Playing it too safely. She should try something a little different.
That's what I think. I also think that it is unfair to claim that Elissa stole the award. That's too harsh and mean. Leave her alone.
It won't be too long before Nancy gets it.

Great singer Elissa started singing in the early 1990s , and by now she has great experience. She really deserves that award . Poor Elissa, she didn't imagine that Arabs would fight her instead of encouraging her and appreciating her . She raised Lebanon's name high and very high...
Elissa's style is one of too little unique ones . And her style is close to that of Fadel , Wael and others who really deserve the award also...
Elissa has built too many by now.. Listen to her nights which actually turned into heavens by her charming voice . In fact I am listening now to one of her songs, she is terrible!

Nancy is very very famous and so cute but I have never felt that she is a real"MOTREBE" that I must respect.. Most of her audience is babies and children . Other than that , she is very spoiled and she can not represent Lebanon's magic and our feelings and eastern emotions, while Elissa's voice can make us very happy or ready to cry ..
Elissa has a bigger talent than Nancy does..
Elissa is so respectful and she has an oriental beauty which is very clear in her eyes and her voice ..
Listen up people! Everyone knows Elissa bought that award. Does she have the money??? Of course she does. She started singing in the 90's!! Dah! Its Nancy's year next year inshallah! You guys wait and see. Also Nancy is widely known around the world, not just in the middle east. & Im from Australia. I see her everywhere here! The things said about elissa winnin the prize ileegally is all bullshit. For god's sake how could nancy be offered the prize if elissa's album was the top in virgin megastore Lebanon, dubai and egypt for the whole of 2006 and nancy's was the third[not even the second!!!], note that elissa's and nancy's albums were both published in the same week in february 2006. It's all because nancy is jelous and i do not blame her, all the work she does and shes still not capable of gaining that much love from people to go and buy her CD. Elissa is the best arabic voice ive ever heard i wish her the best of luck!!!

I think Elissa deserves that award... She sings with alot of passion and soul... I am south african and i have listened to all of her albums and i think she is far better than Nancy Ajram.. Elissa's songs have depth and meaning... Congrats Elissa. South Africa, supports YOU!
