Amira Bin Yousef

Once again, the topic of "beauty queen" causes controversy in Egypt.
This time on the parliamentary level.
This happened when Akram Al Shair, a member of parliament attached to the Muslim Brotherhood party, asked the question to the Prime Minister whether or not such contests should be held at the same time as the Israeli war on Lebanon. It is noted that the Muslim Brotherhood party have always opposed Beauty contests in all forms.

It's also interesting to note that Hanan Naser, the organizer of the "Arab Beauty Contest" and Amira Bin Yousef the winner, had a big argument where Hanna stripped Amira of her title accusing her of not abiding by the rules of the contest. She then gave the title to the runner up, Iraqi Claudia Hanna. But Amira said the only reason she was stripped of her title was because she refused to "cross ethical boundaries" …

Do you agree that Arabic beauty contests are unethical or are they considered progressive?

Yes, i think it's really just a waste of time... i mean, ur prooving who's prettier than the other... to me this is like a chance to those stupid pretty girls a chance to have some fame because they can't do anything but pose. Don't get me wrong.. i'm not religious and all, likei watch star academy... but that has some sense to it. It requires talent and it is actually working hard in many different aspects (singing, dancing, how to present yourself, the way to speak etc.) but Beauty Contest?? that's a no brainer... 100%! a robot can do it!
