We all know what halloween is but how many of us know were it really comes from. Sure there are loads of movies out there that will try to give some sort of explanation but most are historically incorrect.
Halloween seems like a very 'American thing' with capitalism exploiting it as a time for buying and spending, also common in Canada & the UK and gaining increasing popularity in Australia and New Zealand.
However, Halloween originated among the Celts in Ireland, Britain and France as the Pagan Celtic harvest festival known as Samhain. Irish, Scots, Calan and other immigrants brought versions of the traditions to North America in the 19th century.
The actual word "Halloween," is shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the evening before "All Hallows' Day" which is also known as "All Saints' Day"
But also, many European cultures associate it with as the time when the spiritual world can make contact with the physical world.
I guess that explains where the George Bush masks come from.

I learned what it was in church.. I cant remember EXACTLY everything, and im sorry if i mess up a lil but..
Halloween is SUPPOSEDLY a day that the portal closing off our world from hell opens again. Demons that are chained in are freed, and since they havent eaten all year, the go from door to door of the living asking for food. If the people refuse the demons treats, they pray to their lord (forgot his name) to bring misfortune upon them (Hence the phrase, "trick or treat..Give me treats or u gets trick ya3ni) The point of dressing up is that so the living can still commute while the dead are about them, and the dead wont notice them and play tricks on them either. Now candy. First, the people would throw anything at the dead to kick em off their doorstep. Then, they started throwing fruits at them. Later on, after the only things playing trick on people were children, they switched to candy, since thats the most favorable thing to those lil devils ;) Now, the pumpkin is because at first, the ancient Celts (i think it was celts first) Used hollowed and carved turnips and placed embers in them. They then used them to guide the dead out and away from the village. When turnips were short, the irish (or one of them) Started using rootabagas (SP?) or overly huge beets, for the same purpose. Later on, in the Americas, the white men found huge quantities of pumpkins with the native americans, So then, they started using pumpkins. And thats where our dear friend Jack-o-Lantern came from :D Apples are big on halloween because when cut in half, the star the seeds make was an emblem of protection. And witches. All these things i listed are things that supposedly let the witch find her true powers. And halloween was supposed to be one of the best days of a witches year since her powers are stronger since the dead are about and hells door is open. Along with those special symbols, shes like..friggin powerful. But of course, we know none of these things are true. To me, Halloween is now nothing but a day of fun. Though it may have sprouted from urban myths and legends, its nothing to worry to freak out over anymore...Only thing is that people turn into wild things lol, its pretty fun tho, especially when one of ur friends are walkin down the street n u egg them :D And for a kid. Come on now, haram, no matter what u belive in u cant have your kids watching as their friends are dressed up, squealing with delight, and getting what their life is known for~ the ambrosia of their existence at that age : Candy. Halloween is nothing as what it once was.

Hahaha Adam, it's huger than huge. By the way, I finally fiqured out who "Adam" was. Hes sings Keifak int and I saw it the other day and I remembered. He has a really nice voice and I don't know why he didn't become popular before.
i remeber halloween when i was a kid in america. it was horrible, i was very young and all these big kids in scary masks would show up at the door, and our teacher told us about that demons coming from hell thing adam said, and it would be all i could think about all day. it was the pits.

i totally agree with faysal, it just a devil things to celebrate halloween. like scaring kids or dressing a black killer or watching scary movies. some kids go look for candies theyll be dangerous kidnapping and killing./

Halloween is a holiday built upon what knowledge they had in like..the 16 century. And by now, i think we've proved everything they thought was true..is false :/ No demons really come from hell, there was never witches, and everyone definately knows that demons dont come to your door and put misfortune on u if you dont give them food...
Usually its the older ihmar kids who dress as killers. Little ones (who really r supposed to be the ones enjoying the holiday :D) usually dress as their favortie characters (Power rangers, cinderella, bugs bunny, etc.) Plus, i agree is kids are egging starngers its messed up, but to me, if i was to see one of my idiot friends walkin down da street n egg them, its ok cause people always screw around like that wit their friends.
Really, about kidnapping, itd be the parents fault mostly. For 1 theyre not with them, 2 they should know how strong or weak or smart their kid is and if theyd know how to handle the situation, 3 they arent with a group of friends or family , and 4 they stray away from the most people-packed places...If you walkin down a street with no one else trick or treating on it, hell yea your gonna get jacked lol. But if people were around, no idiot in their right mind would try anything...
you just need to think throuroughly and not jump to conclusions... God gave us common sense to put it to use..
