Jamal Suliman

How well Jamal Suliman do in the Egyptian series "Hada'k Al Shaytan" or "Gardens of the Devil"?

The Syrian actor was shocked when he read the script of the show. He said in an interview that he put his hand on his heart for three reasons. The first being that it was a TV show which will go on for a month and not a one-shot movie so he would have to gain the love of the audience all the way through. The second being that his character was an evil one but the third and most important was he would have to play the role using an Egyptian accent...and not just any accent...a Sa'eedi (from the Egyptian countryside) accent too!

Most critics said that he got the accent right by 80% but had a few Syrian words slip out. In response to this he said:

"Is this a low percentage considering the fact that I'm Syrian? I challenge any Egyptian actor to use the Sa'eedi accent as well as I did. I think the only Egyptian actor who can get it totally right would have to be a Sa'eedi born and raised."

When asked about how Syrian TV production has exceeded that of Egypt, he said:

"I disagree, Egypt is and has always been the Hollywood of the Middle East but it lacks historic productions. This is what Syria has done better, as for social productions, no one can beat Egypt.”

I am Egyptian and i must confess that Jamal Soliman was perfect,he played the role as if he is a real Egyptian from El-Se3id,bgad congaratulation, and all egyptians were very glad becoz of him,he is a charismatic person who can act as professionals, while some actors who have no luck and never been hero in any role in the cinema or TV as Ahmed Maher for example were very jealous of him and attack him coz he is from syria and play an egyptian role, but they were very embrassed coz all the TV Programs and the press attacked their strange opinion and admit that Jamal Sulaiman was more than perfect and he was the best to play that role and some big stars as Adel Imam and Nour Elsherif were very glad of him and were very sad becoz of those who were jealous of Jamal Soliman becoz Egypt is the land of Art and all Arab actors are welcome coz Egypt is their second country and its a shame to attack any Arabian actor

I personally think Lebanon is. The video clips have much more quality and the singers and much more popular....no offence though, Egypt also contributes... ;)

Hollywood is crap anyway so don't use it as a means of comparison. Hollywood = crap scripts + hugeee budgets. Even Bollywood is more creative...still I have never watched a bollywood movie & don't plan 2 do so anytime soon. I can guess the storylines without watching...hunky boy meets shy pretty girl, boy gets into trouble with society, girl faces difficulties with family...big old dance & song (plenty of dancers, confetti & colours)...lots of struggle...one tender moment somewhere along the line, girls family reject boy, girl runs to bedroom to have a good old cry (hormones) whilst singing sad song in the mirror, family force girl to marry another blah blah blah make this bit up as u please...boy does something out of the blue...girl + boy run 2 the hills...big old song & dance (just the 2 of them running around spelling out the alphabet on the grass)...they live happily ever after. Add a fountain somewhere & a few trees, elephants...!
Come 2 think of it that sounds quite good actually!

Mind u since when did video clips count as anything more then promotion 4 a song? They r all as bad as each other...but I won't go into the narrative of those as they don't have one. Girls jiggling about makin sure that they haven't dropped any change- 'nough said!

Personally I think social-realism is the best type of genre, unfortunately it does not exist in the Middle East, hollywood or bollywood. Comedy is za best form of escapism but it’s rubbish in every corner of the world now. Boffs in the movie business resort to using sexuality as a reference to humour audiences which is both cheap & tacky. Laurel & Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, Benny Hill, Rowan Atkinson & all the other legends, then there’s Mohammed Soub7y in masra7eyat is awesome…takhareef (if that’s what its called) is sooooooo funny. 3adel Imam back in the day & all those oldies are classics. The modern celebrity is not and never will be worthy of being legends or being called original…that’s all gone (pre-1985/90).

Me & mum thought the Syrian actor above was decent. He's got a babyface & sweet facial expressions that can make the audience warm 2 him easily. I wanted 2 pull his cheeks and say woodjywoo or some other babytalk.

The Arab series nowadays barely touch on the real social issues and problems. The way they handle current affairs is very shallow, no real depth. The "Fantasia" genre is quite annoying. The historical series are quite good in immortalising the Arabs' golden era, however it does not do much to boost the morale of the Arab youth nowadays. Frankly the quality is going down and young actors are becoming quite pretentious.
I did not actually watch anything this year, but mummy dearest mentioned 2 series she liked this year, one Egyptian for Nour ElSheriff and one Syrian. Do not know their names really.
I am sorry but most Egyptian movies are horrendous nowadays. Same old same old...Quantity but not much quality. It is a shame though because I am sure there is no lack of talented scriptwriters, actors and directors.
I will not comment on Lebanese series, yeey yeey yeey. Okay I will comment, one decent series every five years and the rest are horrible. Thank God, they do not pile them on.

Jamal Suliman played his part brilliantly, with such a convincing and skillful manner, he actually imposed himself as one of the big stars of Egyptian, yes EGYPTIAN television and cinema!!!

I say we need to keep this guy as one of our main stars, and forget the fact of where he's originally from, cos as he said, egypt is the leading light in media in the arab world!!! and he played his part amazingly!!!
