Mubarak's 25th Anniversary to Pass Off Quietly

Hosny Mubarak

The majority of Egypt's approximately 73 million inhabitants have known no leader other than 78-year-old Hosny Mubarak.

Coupled with persistent rumors that his son Jamal is preparing to succeed him as president, critics have been prompted to speak derisively of the "Egyptian monarchy" which is the norm when it comes to Arab governments.

Twenty-five years ago on Oct 6, a group of three Islamists shot and killed Egypt's former president Anwar al-Sadat, who was reviewing a parade in Cairo. Mubarak, then vice president, was beside Sadat on the reviewing stand. A week later he was officially appointed president.

I don’t understand why Arab countries call themselves “Republics” when they can just easily become a “Kingdom” and stop this charade of pretending to be democratic.
Bahrain did just that.
I think the rest should follow suit.
What do you think?

what waleg?there is no subject to be post or what? what is the point of posting such issue?i dont understand what we should comment on it,this is the Egyptian president over 26 years and most of the Egyptian suppoorting him with their heart and soul and blode, while the minorities who r participating in some hateful political parties who want to take his place by cheating and trying to destroy our president image "which is never gonna happened encha allah" ..but still wonder what is this topic or what u r waitting to be commented here??? i thonk Hosny Mubarak is the president of one of the most important Arab country in the world, and should be respected, and if i was wrong, can u tell me why in specific u select him?u have syria, lebanon, saudi arabia,jordan...ect,i cant understand ur point of posting such an issue, please be more accurate, the president Mubarak is selected by elections and won it by 80%"majority for sure",so this case is already determined i think and even if his son well be the president i think this is happened in syria and jordan and other arabic countries, msh haga ghariba ya3ny!!1

    sorry waleg

i was nervous coz in the Article of sabah a commentor insulted Mr. Hosney Mubarak and said "kato nila" without any reason while the article was about the big artist Sabah,so i got so nervous when i came to reply for his last comment and i found that it was the last to be post, and when i saw the article concerning Our Presiden Hosney Mubarak i misunderstand the topic,i really appreciate that u post this topic to let the real egyptians say why we love our president Mubarak, while there r minority who wants to destroy his image hatefuly..and i promis to get most of his achivements and i ll collect all the info concerning that "not for sure all of them coz his achivements cant be counted for the 26 years, but at least the most well known...and sorry again waleg but u cant imagine when u love ur president and a certain person insult him without any reason, just put his name and insult him wich made any loyal person tp his country get nervous.

"a commentor insulted Mr. Hosney Mubarak and said "kato nila" without any reason...while there r minority who wants to destroy his image hatefuly"

Whatever u say Safwat! I stand by all my remarks about Mubarak ya 7elwa. If u honestly believe that most people in Egypt love Hosni Mubarak then u must be isolated in a pyramid or something. Rabinah yeshfy we yehdy. So far u have not even mentioned one single thing not even half of what Mubarak has done...FOR his '''OWN''' people...We as Egyptians DO NOT CARE about his external relations coz that's never a benefit to us. And by the way most Arabs do not want him interfering in their affairs for the simple fact that he does not do anything.
He is a Victorian King leading a luxurious life whilst being a dictator. See 4 yourself how many people will commend him. Anyway I’m not a commentator I’m the wizard of Oz.
Who was the one that turned Mubarak into an issue? I merely said a sarcastic remark about those who hold power and fame 80+ and u turned it into the Spanish inquisition. All this 3ashan u don’t want people 2 have their own opinions, sub7an Allah it's a free world. You didn't make Egypt with your bare hands, all u do is walk on it min 3azamit Allah, or is it Mubarak who gives u the permission where to walk and how 2 talk and what 2 say?

It's obscene & hard 2 respect a man who is giving us a false image! We all criticize Women for doing it…what about when a man does it and one who is meant 2 have authority?
And by the way miss nouza u criticized Saba7 in her post for being too old and still wanting fame & 2 look like something else …one rule applies 2 saba7 and another to Mubarak sa7?

Do Arab leaders visit the same plastic surgeon or each country has one?. I was wondering because our president Lahoud and the self proclaimed saint Aoun could have recommended their own surgeons to Mr Mubarak.

Oh my god girl, have some self-respect. Why do u talk in that ridiculous manner? Afa we zoor we pasha? eh dah 2a3ozoo billah!
The whole election was set up by Bush and Israel in a way to stop the criticism they would get for the so-called creation of the Iraqi 'democracy' (A farce- 2 'me'-more people are dying under the USA's existence then Saddams and u already know this- 2 wrongs do not make a right and this applies in the case of Mubarak too) and inevitably 2 keep Mubarak. Egypt, Palestine, Algeria had elections. Some of the khaleegy countries had elections...what changed...NOTHING wake up and smell the coffee: it's all a big act.
Natalie is not 'others' don't disrespect people that way...it's a forum and one free for all to join in & debate. And 'me' one bad guy is no better then one that is painted as evil. We don't have degrees of being bad. If u r bad then u r bad. Anyway Nouza, Mubarak nahyato arabit and God rest his soul when it does but I for one will not be sad...Open your mind ya safwat il sherif. He's not OUR president; don't talk on behalf of everyone. Talk on behalf of yourself...u r not understanding the idea of democracy at all r u? No one hates Mubarak for the simple reason that Mubarak does not do or say anything- he is not an influence, not a peace maker...nothing. Mubarak is getting presents from USA and money...perhaps not as much as Israel but he still accepts them with open arms- it's a fact that he is getting 2 or 3 billion from usa every year as well as war artillery- would they give him money if they hate him? Would he accept it if he hated them? Where’s your sense and logic? You are just caring 4 mazahir and afraid of mazahir...mish il 7a2, not justice, do u work for the tourist industry? Al Jazeera doesn't hate Egypt- they have no reason 2...they adopted Al Qaradawy didn't they. I f u don't like it...don't watch it. I certainly have no room to hate Mubarak or any of his mafia...I simply don't consider him. You are joking about the retirement bit aren't u? That’s the funniest thing ever; a president living with power and in luxury retiring @ 80, leh ba3d il shar did he suddenly feel a burst of energy or has he decided that it’s time 4 a change of career? You are talking like a cowboy with all this enemy and hatred nonsense...grow up please!

Nouza u r not even being original. I was the one who told u not 2 talk in the manner that u do and now u r turning 'my words' around on everyone else? Don't u have anything of your own to say? I am seriously thinking now that u must be related to someone in the mafia we 3aysha fe 3ezz the elite.

Anyway your arguments & methods are weak and if u r so proud 2 be an Egyptian u would be asking people 'why' they are anti-Mubarak, and like I said b4 u would list what he has done in his 26 years...so far all u r saying is he has 'many' accomplishments which is a very poor argument (what many?). He is only the fourth president of Egypt so even for u to compare him is meaningless and of no use 2 us. All it seems like 2 us is that he is trying 2 maintain all of Sadat's achievements (that of which have aged & in need of change & renewing desperately)and keep his external relations alive. Anyway everyone prefers Nasser- even non-Egyptians. For u to criticize people of female origin for being against Mubarak’s govt is pathetic and disgusting!!!

I can post something tab3an 3ala Mubarak...Where is the money coming from America going? What are the exact motives for having an election only NOW? surely If u believe something is right u will do it without waiting 2 be asked (just before further middle-eastern wars!)& after 26 years of power! What has occurred from the investigation bita3 il red sea drowned ship? Why is Suzanne Mubarak involved in his Politics acting as mother Theresa when clearly around the world Politicians do not involve their 'unelected' wives/spouses? Where are the ministers resolving Egypt’s Transport crises? / Pollution crises? / Architectural crises? / Medical care crises?
What is the point of going on a 10 Copt and 10 female solution to show diversity? Why not pick people based on their credibility and not their sex or religion? When we he step down? Who is worthy of taking his place after he steps down/ dies? Why is so much of Egypt’s politics controlling il gawami3, il media including TV channels and newspapers...if u have nothing 2 hide then u would allow all those institutions to be privatized...there is a huge list of unanswered questions so if u wanna defend him then u better start answering and stop insulting anyone who make a challenge on u or him. Try 2 be a little bit more dignified. But u should face it, Egypt’s government are fence-sitters…they don’t wanna pick sides or say who is right coz they don’t wanna be cut off from anyone or anything…that’s not justice for us or anyone else. I mean a company like ‘Marks and Spencer’s’ or ‘Sainsbury’s’ which are both ma3rofeen to be Jewish and benefactors for Israel- why are they allowed to exist in Egypt especially after the atrocities of Lebanon? We ma3roof Kaman that Marks and Spencer’s for instance has tabaro3at going to Israel and so how is this right? I really don’t care what other Arab govts are doing…your job is to stand up for only the one in question and so u don’t have to say eshme3na 2e7na and if they r doing it why can’t we…u can only represent yourself as a loyal Mubarak fan who believes he is a man doing everything right. Yallah daf3y…

  1. nouza | October 18, 2006 8:55 PM

I really cant say all Mubarak's accomplishements becoz they r uncounted, but i ll try to sum up some of them during the past 20 yrs:
for exaples,Privatization is well underway,Egypt's public debt has fallen from $40billion to 30.9 billion tell 1996.Forein currency resrves have climbed to $18 billion from $4.9 billion in 1982.
-The population growth has been brought under controll according to official tatistics "and its properly shown by the huge campaigns to dcrease population and support the birth controll",while the rate increase is approashing 2% while 15 yrs ago was 2.8%
-Egypt infrastructure has approached the level of the so-called first world particulary in communications,20 yrs ago the anecdote goes that the best way to make a cross town phone call was to go through syprus
-Some informal areas"slums" that were once totally neglected are now enjoy lighting, sewars, and health services, also there are more highways, and they r better lit and better metaled than ever before.
-Also Mubarak's program since he became our president 1981 has been one of economic reforms, more political freedom, like letting the Muslim Brotherhood into the parliment, and he gave more freedom to the press
-Internationaly he has focused on neutrality between the great powers and put his efforts into improving relations with other Arab states.
-Today Egypt hosts the Arab league and has clear pretensions to lead it,while it had been expelled from the Arab league before Mubarak
While Mubarak restored relations with therest of the Arab world and no doubt this is due largely to his personal style of one-on-one diplomacy and friendly
--in his last election he got 88.6% of the votes

My main point is that every1 is free to express his point of view,no 1 can stop any person ,but when it come to insulting this is not accepted, and i am sorry if i got nervous and said things that i shouldnt said but this is due to my loyality for the one i do respect and love our President Mohamed Hosmy Mubarak president of my lovely country Egypt..and please remember that no 1 is perfect except God..and Mubarak is 4 sure not perfect coz no 1 can be,but at least he represent our country Egypt through out the past 26 years,so at least select ur words even if u r against him, yeah u hate him but millions of egyptians love him,so u can at least respect those millions feelings.

Nouza for the last time this is an open forum/ an open debate and a democratic one at that...if the devil himself wants 2 join in then it's none of your business...u don't own this site and u don't own the subject matter and more importantly u don't own Egypt. If Allah wills an Earthquake in Egypt then it will happen and if Allah wills flooding then it will happen so have some flexibility in your understanding. You are really bi3eeda khalis 3an the reality, if u wanna know if Egypt is approaching first world or not go and check the united nations statistics about Egypt and then come back and we'll talk- Egypt is barely above the African nations in reference to 'advancing' and for your information countries including Tunisia and Morocco are above us...maybe not by much but for all your talk u make it seem as though we r sitting on top of the Arab league comfortably with a cigar in our mouth...Egypt needs the Arabs just as much as any nation needs another. America has pretty much confirmed the failing of the Egyptian elections and u should not restrict yourself to Aljazeera & ESC...maybe broaden your knowledge by visiting the many different international websites. Even Europe has recognised the shambles of the Egyptian elections as well as the failing of Iraq. The Arab league is yet again a shambles and it is the joining of leaders who are holding on to positions with their teeth. Anyway Enty wala hamik Ramadan wala inik to be a good muslim wala hamik democracy wala ay 7aga...u r in a world of your own dear and u r very jealous that the 'original psycho' has more support then the original forum dictator- u sincerely. My family live in slums in Alexandria so I know more about that then u do. You're not in a position really to enforce your luxurious privileges on the rest of us. Go and do do3a2 ba2ah 4 Rabin ye2bal seismic because u have been very rude to several people here we Allah yesam7ik. Anyway why do u insult using the world 'yahooed'? I swear that there are Jews better then Arabs. There are many Jews against the Israeli govt and there is even a sect in Judaism that is against the creation of Israel. As well as that I have met Jews who have converted to Islam as well as others. Go and broaden your knowledge dear, we are all ignorant in this world but u r being ignorant and stubborn and unwilling to debate in a civilized manner.

To Lebanese u r welcome in Egypt anytime it’s your home as much as it is mine. Trust me we are not battling with one another…it’s politics and we are trying to air our views…most of it is anti-government and the only person who is taking it personally and attacking anyone who is not taking her stance is nouza.
