Qatar Opposes Jordan’s Candidate!

Prince Zeid al Hussein

Why did Qatar oppose the Jordanian Candidate for the UN?

Jordan has recalled its ambassador to Qatar to protest the Gulf country's vote against a Jordanian prince to head the United Nations. Prince Zeid al Hussein was the only Arab and Muslim candidate to run for the post.

Can you believe it? Qatar is the only Arab and Muslim nation on the council and they didn’t want an Arab to be Kofi Anna’s successor. We could have had a Jordanian at the head of the UN!

Zeid is among five candidates to succeed the UN Secretary-General but Qatar didn’t want him!

I don’t understand how Arab leaders think! We are supposed to stick to each other and stand by each other’s side aren’t we?

Anyone from Qatar here? Please explain! We know Qatar is well-known for its Arabic brotherhood! What went wrong?

I Thought he was rumoured to be favoured by the US, because if it is true Qatar would not have opposed it. Politics is complicated. Is that his picture?. I have read the news but have not seen his picture, because he is better looking than the South Korean that was chosen. Yeah I am sure that jealousy played a part in the discussion :P.

I hope that is not the picture of someone really really really well known, because as knowledgeable I am about world politics, I have not seen this person. However why would you put the picture if it was not the jordanian candidate?. I'M BACK...and addressing myself again.

He is not at all Jordanian, look it up,he can't even speak proper arabic (just like the king of Jordan) he is Swedish,Turkish,British and just a bit Jordanian. Besides the regime of Jordan is just like the regime of the former Shah of Iran. They only please the U.S. Oppressive royalty from the middle east should not be working for the UN anyway.

why would you stereotype ONE jordanian official to the whole jordanian government.thats just ignorant.change your views for starters.besides this guy is a good man.secondly,we shouldnt think of a jordanian as a jordanian but as an arab.qatar as a representative of ALL arab nations shouldve chosen this arab who couldve changed the state we as arabs are in.if,that is,he had a chance.
