Two Marines charged in the alleged murder of an Iraqi man in the village of Hamdania pleaded ‘not guilty’ in a base courtroom today….why am I not surprised?
Along with their squad mates, they’re charged with murder, kidnapping, conspiracy and related offenses in the April 26 death of 52-year-old Hashim Ibrahim Awad.
So if they’re not guilty, I guess Awad just tided himself up and took their M16 rifle and shot himself to make it look like a murder!!
Two Marines Plead Not Guilty in Hamdania Killing
Ladies and gentlemen from the USA, can you please tell us how you guys feel about seeing your soldiers in court every now and then. I mean, I know they’re your own and people stand by their countrymen in such times but don’t you think it’s going too far? They carry the name of the USA. Should such barbaric specimens be in your army?
I’m not saying they’re guilty because that hasn’t been proven. But there must be some truth to it, since so many soldiers have either been charged or convicted with crimes against Iraqi civilians.
they killed inconet people, yes of course the group american soldiers and europe killing them. thats haram walah. allah uma ine saiyem. no mercy american and europe are murder.when i saw children they have no living and no foods. also women, they rape them and selling the videos porn in america. they are dogs.
Yes they have gone too far!!All this that is happening is because of them. Ya wailhum min 3athab allah. God protect Iraq from further attacks. I don't know how much it can take, I mean, its becoming longer than WWII.... ;(
Ugh, dont even call them our own. All these Americans can go screw theirselves - i dont care how long ive been living here, nor that this is where i was born. Im Arab, and thats what i go by - A-R-A-B. And they arent representing 'Americans', their representing the ihmar ubiuth that live in america. And they dont need a courting, its a 99% chance their guilty. And its not America that started the war, its Bush and his bull***t revenge against Saddam, ANNND his freakkin greed. All the stuff bout nukes was a bunch of BS and the whole sep.11 thing was planned out. Bush and all Al-quida are in it together. Personally i think their all freakkin idiots. And now isreal is taking advantage over having the stupid US on their saide and is bombing everything. Dont think the people here dont feel bad, because 75% of americans want to assasinate Bush. Thats why he has such a big mob following him around compared to all the other presidents - He knows one day hes gonna be shot down, and personally, i cant wait.

Gentlemen from USA - I guess I would have to say that I don't understand your posting. You ask how we feel seeing one of our own go to court. Personally, I don't feel much either way. It is their right to claim "not guilty" and it will be up to a court of law to decide their guilt or innocence based on the evidence. If they are found guilty, then they will be convicted for their wrongdoing and be punished for it. If they are found innocent, then they will be free. Again, this will be up to a court of law. Not public opinion or emotional outburst. I also think that you are using some fuzzy logic in your conclusion. Just because other soldiers have been convicted for crimes in Iraq doesn’t mean that these guys are guilty. This is akin to saying that all Muslims must be terrorist because all of the Sept 11 killers were Muslim. This, of course, is not true but that is the analogy that you are using. Further more, I think that you have shown that our legal system does work. Other soldiers have been convicted of crimes and rightly so. When our soldiers go outside of the law, we hold them accountable for their actions.
I am also concerned with the comments from Adam. He is an American but he doesn’t call himself an American. Yet he lives here and enjoys all of the freedoms that come from being an American. I’m sure if he was arrested for a crime that he felt he didn’t commit, he would be declaring NOT GUILT for all of the world to hear. He also cannot wait for his President to be shot. Why does he wish to kill? I find this longing for death a little disturbing. We are all humans and should respect and value human life. Regardless of our religious backgrounds, should we not be seeking solutions for peace instead of looking for people to blame or kill.
I’ve said my peace. I hope this letter will open up dialogue but to be honest I doubt that will happen. I’m fully expecting outrage and ridicule for my comments. I hope this will not be the cause but again I doubt it. Prove me wrong.
Obviously, there is a huge hole in our legal system if we let these sorry excuse for americans get off scott free. How do you think we americans feel? Of course we are angry. That man had no right to die and those guys should be sent to prison. I partially agree with what adam says.People, please do not think that this scum is representing America because they are not. They represent the ignorant idiots that live here. Not all americans are supporting this war. In fact, more than half don't I think including me. I understand where you are coming from Muadib but it's not so cut and dry. Most of those soldiers who did commit those heinous crimes ARE guilty either partially or entirely. They just get a slap on the wrist and that just outrages me. We should be locking these scumbags up and taking Americans out of Iraq. We have already done too much damage to them
:(
Brigitte - Thank you for your comments. Just a couple of things. We do believe in the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. Let the evidence speak in a trail before we say that they need to go to jail. My other issue is with pulling our troops out. I, like you, want our troops out of Iraq. But this is an emotion response versus a reasoned response. Like it are not we are in Iraq. Currently hundreds of Iraqis are dying everyday. A few are killed by Americans but the vast majority of these killings are being done by their fellow countrymen. If we pull out of Iraq right now, there will be a civil war between the Shia, the Shi’te, the Kurds, etc... In addition, the insurgents will try to rip control over the government away from the elected leaders. Pulling out now would result in the deaths of millions of Iraqis. Their blood would be on our hands. I agree with you that we need to find a better way in Iraq but pulling out is not an option unless we can accept the blood bath that will follow.
well..i am british and tunisian, but consider myself 100% tunisian! does that make me wrong? im more ARAB its just the way it is..Muadib what is wrong with no wanting to b assosicated with the americans? i mean damn i would hate to be called an american...ohh the shame that country has brought on the world. so u said it well adam :) !!
also course they killed the arabs..i mean americans r sick minded idiots..so i hope they get dealth penalty! - i jus wana say im noramlly against dealth penalty but anyone who hurts or kills my brother or sister deserve it!
and all them massacures in Iraq by the americans and english r sick! i am disgusted even more so by my own countrys action (uk) i mean they jus follw the us...crazy. but at least blair is going soon!
Ok for 1) IM A GIRL. And for 2) Killing Bush is the only way to get his azz outta office because the US government would never impeach him - Even if everyone in the freakkin world voted him out! Face it! The stupid governemtn hides EVERYTHING from us and only lets a few minor details escape to the public. But what details do they let out? The ones that will make us think a certain way, so as to never EVVVVEEEER put annny type of blame on the US government since they think their perfect lil angels. And dont think that i CHOSE to be here, cuz if it were up to me, id be in my homeland. So dont even go there with me 'enjoying' the freedom here. And even so that if we pull out, the blood wouldnt be on OUR hands anymore. If the Middle East wants to have a civil war, thats their problem, not ours~we caused nothing to start it. And it was totally pointless to even GO into iraq, and if u pull something 'smart' on that comment just to prove a counterexample, i doubt anyone will agree, no matter how right you think you are...Plus, ya darn right imma plead not guilty, because there is something called good lawyers and Evidence that will prove my innocence. All im trying to get at is that this country, no matter HOW great other people think it is, is the most Corrupt, the most Perverse, and the most Undeserving of any high honor EVER. Plus, no matter how much any one values the human life, someone in the world is gonna want to killed. Id never want my life taken away, but do other people? Most likely. Do i care? None. Will i do anything if anyone tries to take it from me? Ill kill them. And when the government takes me in and tries to prove me guilty for murder? Ill plea it was self defense. So i guess in this country 'getting away with murder' isnt JUST a saying. And that just hits ya back in the face now doesnt it?

PS..Crap, sorry if i sound like im yelling or something.
People dont think that its all Muslims bombing everything. Ive been penalized by people asking me if ive bombed anything or if im gonna bomb my school. A perfect example is oday :: A new kid straight from Iraq came to our school and even though i tried to talk to him in arabic he could only understand Pharsi. People were making fun of him for being Iraqi- saying to pat him down and search him for straps, or to grab his bookbag and search for bombs. At first i thought it a little joke, until i heard more and more people stating it. They are all making fun of an innocent kid that could hardly understand english on his FIRST DAY. Why the hell would a most likely refugee try to get AWAY from the bombing just to come to a school and bomb it. Like it or not, people are gonna stereotype. The difference is that the stupid americans are more to blame cuz there can be evidence...as it said in the story here 'So if they’re not guilty, I guess Awad just tided himself up and took their M16 rifle and shot himself to make it look like a murder!!'..Its called common sense =/

Wow,adam that is awful. God help that guy and give him strength inshallah. Tell him to be strong and let those Americans back off. It's enough what they have done to his country nowe they ar ebullying him. That is way over the line... ;(
Thats exactly what i said. I mean, haram, and they didnt even put him in the special classes that help them learn english.. He is in the normal english class (with me). This just shows how stupid some people could be... And no one could really help cuz the only arabs in my school are Assyrian, Jordanian, and Lebanese. So, the poor kids kind of screwed =/ only thing is..alot of girls jumped the kid =| a whole table was surronded by them cuz of him lol..kinda funny :D

Dear Muadib
Thanks for your post. I like your opinion on how we shouldn’t generalize. You’re absolutely right. We cannot assume that the GIs are guilty any more that we assume all Muslims/Arabs are terrorists. But I think I was quite clear in saying that their guilt or innocence is yet to be proven. If I sound sarcastic, it’s only my personal opinion. And even that is based on some logic…that logic is as follows:
• Plenty on GIs have been either trialed or convicted in this war (thankfully the system does work sometimes) as we’ve seen in the Abu Ghraib scandal. So this is based on previous tendencies.
• The soldiers are tired, angry and frustrated and face death on a daily basis. I expect anyone would go crazy under such circumstances. And even though I don’t justify their actions, I do, however, understand them.
• Rumors: I’m Iraqi and we hear constantly about GI behavior that never reaches the press. What we read and hear is 1% no more!
This war isn’t helping anyone apart from a bunch of people getting rich.
If I were an American, I would stand by my justice system just like you Muadib, but I would never stand by such people who are the face of my nation around the world.
Remember, the GIs came to Iraq, not the other way around.
No offence to anyone!
Thanks Zayed for your amazing posts...keep up the good work...inshallah aliraq tirja3 ahsan min il awal... ;)
Inshalla :)
And you're most welcome!
to Adam the GIRL..um..im not American but Australian i dont pretend to be ignorant towards the American system because our system is gradually changing into the American one.I thought the American constitution only allowed the president two terms in office and whether people vote him or not he or his congress has no choice but to get out of office, that is,unless the whole American constitution was reconstructed or changed in an absurd way.legally, those soldiers shouldnt be considered guilty unless enough evidence is collected and exceeds reasonable doubt.however,my personal opinion is that these soldiers are guilty because most of the crimes commited against iraqis come from American soldiers and a great fact which supports this is the abu ghraib scandal. i am absolutely sure that American media tends to brainwash its fellow citizens the way it likes.it is strange to me how an iraqi wouldve been killed by another fellow iraqi in any POLITICAL way as they tend to score allegiance towards each other.unless ofcourse it was a fued which doesnt concern politics.mind explaining your point there Muadib?id like to see how the prosecution collected their evidence against these soldiers as im sure they wouldnt have made it up would they? i hope those soldiers once convicted of murder know the meaning of life and how sacred it is.
iraq wont go back to the way it was unless
1- all shittes and sunnis act like brothers of the same relegion and stop their disagreements over pathetic little differences like that whole succesor argument.
2-Americans ditch the oil and get the hell out of Iraq
3-arab countries unite together against American and Israeli opposition.
as far as i know, that will never happen.
Well aussie, i know thats what everything SEEMS. Its written on paper, America is all built on popular sovereignty, and all the streets are paved of the finest gold. the funny thing is that although thats what everything looks like to the eyes of the beholder, its nothing of. yes, the people vote. But because of our retarded Electoral College, the votes of the people are practically useless. One runner could win 30 of the 50 states popular votes, but depnding on WHICH states they are, they ould still lose, because each state has a different electoral vote (the bigger states have bigger votes). Also, as though politicians say that everything is derived from the people, and the Preamble to our own Constitution starts off with "WE, the PEOPLE", its all a sugar coating. they want us to think we run ourselves. But we dont. They want us to think that we are the best and strongest country in the world. But were not. They want us to think is absolutely, positvely No corruption behind the closed doors. But God. There is more than all other countries in the world combined. Believe me, there has been evidence. 9/11 is what opened a lot of peoples eyes. theres evidence that points all fingers to the government PLANNING it out with Al Quida.belive me when i say that America will fall very soon. Just hope that Austrailia doesnt turn out the same because i know how close in comparison the two governments are.
