What are some of the special Ramdanian sweets that you like?
They differ from each country to country.
Baklawa must be the champion of Arabic sweets but we need to know what more types exist. Guys and girls from all over visit Waleg so we will grab this chance for you to tell us what your favorite is!
Mamool for example, Zalabya, and the Ramadan favorite: Qatayef.
For those of you living abroad, is it easy to get Arabic sweets where you live? When I was living in the UK, I found a small Iraqi shop that made the best Zalabya in the universe! It was even 10 times better than any I’d had in Iraq (apart from my mum’s of course)
The only problem is that by the time I’d done “devouring” my iftar, I don’t have much space left for sweets anyway!!!

i dont like arabic sweets that much!!!! but I LOVE icecream lol anyways i live in the US and its kinda hard to buy arabic sweets here, but my mom is the BEST cook ever and she can make ANYTHING lol and its always good :)

one of the BEST iraqi sweets iv ever had is an iraqi one called 'daheen/daheeneh.' if ur iraqi u know what im talking about, if not, u need 2 find sumwer that sells this! i live in uk and actually its quite easy to get arabic sweets, there are several factories around, as well as the arabic markets.

Here in Dearborn, we have this place called "shatila" it has the best lebanese/iraqi sweets in dearborn. The konafa rocks!!!

I love zarda ( which is ground rice that somehow turns yello, i think with saffron ;) and darseen is places over it). I also love kanafa. Very nice especially bain narain...well thanks for the topic. I personally like sour food in Ramadan rathr thank sweet..... ;)

everyting is good but Qatayef stands out.
I've only had baklawa when I was in the UK, clearly my Arabic friends did not do a good enough job of sharing the sweets with me! *frowns* I loved baklawa, and I am sure if I tried the others I would love them too...Living in the West Indies...its extremely hard to source these items but not I have a mission!

Uh, i dont know if i have a FAVORITE, but Kanafa, Harissa, Zalabya, Sahleb, Baklawa..um... Shizzit. Basically anything made with Arab hands is the bomb :DD Its not TOO hard to find things in da U.S...But i prefer to make it myself because it ALWAYS tastes better..plus i like to know how to make foods of my race. i think for only being 13 and being able to make all of those above foods and more is pretty good. Iono, everything associated with arabs and food is too good to resist soo..Yea. Now, who makes the BEST.. Thats a different story..;)

i like this moroccan sweet called SHABAKIYA its mostly eaten during ramadan its a fried sweet dipped in honey and sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds. mmm its good!!!

Walahi, the boy is amazing. i cant for the life of me understand why hes not as famous (or more famous) Than Amr diab or nancy ajram or any of them. he is more of an over looked singer...If you heard Keifak Ent/ Feek El Khair (the name is like, being fought over..) youll know who he is. Hes really cute too :x Anyways, if u wanna listen to his songs, go to either 6arab.com (everythings written in arabic) Or go to Soutelgad.com .. they have (almost) all his songs. The thing is, on 6arab.com, they put the wrong guy in his picture slot, so u have to go by name. Anyways, im sorry for the long comment foofoo..i type too much XD

hey people im an Australian who has a syrian and jordanian background and well the type of arabic sweets i really enjoy are home made knafi.it isnt hard to find sweets here but the people who sell them here are jerks.they tend to sell them for veryyyy high prices so we have to do them at home.haha i also love date pudding but i dont know if thats arabic.anyway cheers n guys...avoid fighting.
