What do you think about having a cat or dog in the house?
In the Arab and Muslim world, the idea of having pets in the house is not entirely outlawed but it is also not encouraged. Cats, dogs and other household pets are not common in most homes. Sure, they make a mess, and tear up your furniture and brake vases, eat your clothes, mess the carpet, in addition to a million other things…but they’re just so adorable and will make you happy!

Scientists have proven that stroking a dog or a cat can actually decrease stress and lower blood pressure, especially for people over 60. Think of a white fluffy cat as a kind of stress-relieving pillow!

In Jordan, the pet business is on the rise as more and more families are accepting the idea of having a little puppy or kitten. This increase in sales is also due to the expanding foreign families living and working in the Kingdom who have been used to little feet running around in the house.

However, pet and animal care is much neglected as cultural issues still stand in the way since the majority of the people still do not accept them.

Do you think that more and more pets will start popping into Arabic houses?

No it's no problem with me. I've had 6 cats, 2 turtles, a whole lot of birds, fish, and that;s about it. What I find disgusting is dogs. Forget that man's best friend stuff. They're disgusting! Yeah I think more amd more pets will "pop" into Arab houses as you've put it...:)

I love cats and birds but I prefer not to keep thme in cages it's just cruel. As for dogs, I'd never let one inside my house.
