The Australian “crocodile hunter” Steve Irwin has died after being stung in the chest by a stingray while diving in the Great Barrier Reef. He was filming a part for his documentary called ‘ocean’s deadliest' when the stingray attacked him and left a hole in his heart.
The incident happened yesterday at 11 am Australian time (12 am GMT). It took 30 minutes for the crew to bring him to the paramedics but he died shortly after at noon.
His wife was trekking in the mountains of Tasmania at the time and police had to search for her to tell her the news. Steve Irwin was famous for his TV series ‘crocodile hunter ' and leaves behind his wife Terri, daughter Bindi sue (aged 8) and son bob Clarence (aged 3).

Bound to happen eventually. Too bad cause the fellow was most entertaining.
I am writing this hoping that the Irwin family may see it, and know what I thought of Steve. I think that steve was so awesome even at age 6 I would wake up early enough to watch the show "Crocidile Hunter" before school. I hope and pray of the Irwin family and also to Steve may he Rest In Peace.
My heart goes out to you and your family.... May you find some comfort in this time of need... Steve has left an impression on the hearts of millions... He will be miss............
Steve was an amazing man, he will be missed....You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.... Sorry about the loss...
God bless you and your family...
Yes, I tried sending this piece of info yesterday. It's tragic, we mourn loosing him although those who truly know him know that he always put his life on the line. Before being killed by the stingray, he had numerous bruises all over his body. We'll miss you Steve. Animal Planet is going to be very lonely without you.... ;(
Waleg, as I said, I tried sending you this but after I finished writing, I saw no "Send" button?!...... ;)

May he R.I.P.
It is weird though the shock that engulfed everyone when they first heard the news(including me), because really given the work he does it was bound to happen sooner or later. However he did seem invincible. I do hope they do get rid of the video footage of his passing like his manager wishes.
There are not too many people that enjoy or believe in the work they do like Steve Irwin did.
I have only recently moved here and I really wanted to meet him on my birthday. For some strange reason a big part of my life is missing a big part.when i found out about Steve it was watching the documentary about "spitting cobras" when my dad stood in front of the t.v on the phone to my mum then when I said move out of the way he told me about it. I was crying for the next hour and a half and I stared at the wall remembering the Crocodile hunter fathers day card I got him and I have held that card ever since. Tayia Cummins Perth Australia
That's a terrible loss for Animal Planet and animal lovers too. I used to watch The Crocodile Hunter series and liked Steve Irwin a lot for his bravery and passion for wild life. Austrailia lost a very unique person and I feel terrible for his wife Terri, Bindi and Bob.

A few jokes have been circulating today on SMS about Irwin and Brock( may they both rest in peace).
Steve Irwin is sitting in God's office. God tells Irwin that he will grant him a wish, so Irwin whispers in God's ear his wish. When his wish is granted, Steve turns to God saying" Crikey, I said croc not Brock". yeah it is lame but it cracked me up.
heaven has found a new angel REST IN PEACE STEVE IRWIN and BLESS UR FAMILY ameen!
i hope everyone knows how much i liked steve. he was a role model and i wish the best of luck to his family and friends. <3
