Egyptian Noble Literature prize winner Najib Mahfouz has died today at the age of 94 in Cairo, after suffering from ulcer bleeding.
Mahfouz will always be alive in our hearts & minds with his unforgettable writings & novels.
Najib Mahfouz was born in Gamaliya, Cairo & that provided the backdrop for his writings.
Before turning to the novel, Mahfouz wrote articles and short stories.
Some of his most famous writings are The Madaq Alley -Zuqaq Al Madaq- & The Cairo Trilogy -Al thulathia- : Bayn Al Qasrayn, Qasr Al Shoq & Sukkarya
He has made Arabs proud in 1988 by being the first Arab writer to be awarded a Noble prize.
May God rest his soul.
Allah ye rahmo.
ina lilah wa ina lilehe ragioon
May he rest in peace. Will there be another Arab writer to be awarded such a prize? I doubt it very much.
ALlah yirhama oo yirhamna jamee3an ameen ya rab al 3alameen. Inshallah ikoon bil jana.... ;)
I doubt it too S.M.S. with everything that's going on in our region, no one can so much as let a word out let alone write it....... ;)
May God rest his soul, Mahfouz was very distinguished author in the world of literature and an inspiration for creativity and wisdom.
Naguib mahfouz was of one the kings in the Egyptian history and the middle east stars , he is genius and i feel proud when talking about him cuz he is Egyptian.

dont know him. he might cheat of his novels, thats why he won..crap
Nane you're displaying some real ignorance there, as well as disrespect towards a man u claim not to know and who just died. Don't contribute if u have nothing useful 2 say please.
he lived a long life. RIP
I did not mean that there is a lack of talent or potential in the Arab world. I meant that even if an Arab surfaced with an incredible achievement, would he/she be awarded the prize given the current politics?, especially after the 9/11 events.
However it does seem sad that these icons are dying and they are leaving a void that seems to be destined to remain empty. I do hope a long life for Youssef Shahin and Adel Imam, because I do not see anyone resembling their brilliance on the scene. I have to say though their latest offerings were quite disappointing. I do not know if it is censorship(be it due to religion or political reasons) or what the audience wants to see in the current climate.
inna lilahi wa inna illahi raje3oon. i enjoyed his novels.
nane, u r crap, u cant say bad things about a dead person. such an ignorant
