While Lebanon was under heavy bombing last month, the FIRST Miss Arab World Contest took place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sharm el Sheikh from July 26th to July 29th!
Participation in the first Miss Arab World was surprising with 13 girls from 9 Arab countries; some of these countries are Iraq, Jordan and Palestine!
The event took place as part of the Arab Tourism Festival which started on the 20th of July and ended yesterday. Many Arab and western singers have joined the festival as guests.
Girl's ages range from 18 to 24. The winner which has the title of Miss Arab World 2006 is Nadia Bin Fadla from Tunisia, while the first runner up is Claudia Hanna from Iraq and the second runner up is Dina Adel from Egypt.
What's worth mentioning is that Miss Iraq and first runner up Claudia Hanna can't go back to Iraq after because she has gotten threatened to be killed if she comes back to Iraq that's why she will stay in England and work as a model in the Fashion industry to make her living.
I see much beautiful girls in the street, lol!
However, the tunisian and the iraqi girls deserve to be on the top cause they do look better than the others.
I would love to see this competition every year in a different arab country,I know that we have a lot of beauty in our countries. hoppefuly the standart would be better nest time.
the Tunisian girl was definitley the best one, but i think Morocco was good too.

honestly i never ever want to watch any beauty pageants anymore..cuz in lebanon, egypt, usa, even miss world they always chose like the ugliest girls..... I THOUGHT IT IS A BEAUTY PAGEANT..not the ugly duckling that wins and belives that they r pretty... seriously why r the judges soo blind... haha they should get enough sleep be4 judging.....
i feel bad for miss iraq..that she was threatened 2 be killed, but like did bush call her on the phone n say like hey i'll kill u..n hung up, is that wut happened....lol....

yuck ones worse than the other wats happening? true the only ones who deserve a pageant are miss iraq and miss tunisia. i dont know how the others even entered the competition. well anyway its nice to see something new, hopefully there will be improvements next year. respect 2 miss iraq who's risking her life to represent her country. bloody terrorists P*SS OFF AND GO 2 HELL! leave the country alone for god's sake, let the people BREATHE!

Well , i read it in 3eeen newspaper 2 weeks ago but i really couldnt get it i mean the second runner up is dina but who is dina i mean miss egypt is fawzeya not dina , it is miss arab so The REAL miss egypt n lebanon n tunisia n morocoo n syria so on should attend not gurls we dont know who they're but overall it wasnt that bad i mean miss tunisia was the best and miss iraq too they werent blind b/c they're da best in all of them so they didnt do anything wrong and u guys forgot it is the first time to make miss .arab i mean it shouldnt be that perfect in the begining by time it will be nice

Miss Iraq is very pretty, i love the eyes, she makes me proud as an iraqi, it is good that iraq could have picked a pretty girl and the country is in shambles, usually at this times, they keep their girls in doors, but hey, she did it, and now they are threatening her, bastards, when will iraqi women have safety.
