Gates Couple Pledges to Fight AIDS

Bill Gates and his wife Melinda

Multibillionaire Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates donated 500 million dollars to Global Fund to help finance efforts to eradicate AIDS and HIV. The two attended the International AIDS Conference, which started on Sunday in Toronto, Canada. While recognizing the recent developments in AIDS prevention, Bill gates noted that there are still so many things to be done. There has to be a “dramatic breakthrough” in AIDS prevention he said. He particularly expressed support to the advancement of microbicides.

Melinda Gates on the other hand emphasized that women must be empowered in order to successfully fight this epidemic. She also expressed and reaffirmed support to HIV Vaccine Enterprise. She also mentioned about the need to change the way people treat and think of those with HIV and AIDS.

On Monday former US President Bill Clinton also spoke at the conference and reaffirmed his support. He emphasized that majority of those infected especially in the third world countries do not know they are infected because of fear of being tested. There is the need to fight that stigma, he said.

It's really hard to find a filthy rich and generous person at the same time these days. It's good that he's putting back the money he earns into the global community. I mean the guy has 90 billion, he's got to do something with it...... ;)

what is the maatter it is not too much so many people affected with this the worest of all, why he spent more for this the killer disease instead of donating this small amount it is riduclious a man who has the frist richest man through out the world .it is not a deal he spend this money for one day entertainment ? he and his family will be passed one upon time the donation is not covered the things around giving too much is necessary for the voineriable persons it is not reached and using for grass root may be for the rich having access to get this money . you know some leaders distrubting for their benefits for weapon bought or for squandering for relaxing ? the donors have responsibed and coutious to follow and watch to whome this granting money is utilized . no more following the only one for the donors is getting recognition and famous they dont care for the rest wheather they spending for private use or for public interst that is not their bother.
