I really admire how this conference began. I'm gald to see that all Arab leaders are with Lebanon through thick and thin. Fouad Siniora really seemed affected when reading his speech. I hope the government's seven points are established and that Lebanon comes back to us safe and sound.... ;)

Lebanon and their Arab allies should be giving concessions to Israel to achieve peace, they should not be allowed to gain anything for their terrorist acts, not 1 inch of ground, not 1 prisoner, not 1 second of relief from Israel’s righteous retaliation.

As an observation. The support for Israel in the UK is in rapid decline. We cannot understand the gross response of Israel unless it was pre planned. We lived under the IRA onslaught for many years and despite thousands of deaths at no time did anyone even think of carpet bombing Dublin. The same applies for Spain with ETA and others. Your country grew out of terrorism, many of your politicians were terrorists or are their sons and daughters.

Sinking to the level of Russia in Chechnya is no way to win respect. I would have thought that of all countries Israel would understand the word 'disproportionate'.

It is so unfair how people do not see that is in infact preplanned! Of course it is. Ever since the UN resolution in 2000 to take Israel out of Lebanon the Israel gov has been needing an excuse to come back in! How do we know that Israel, Iran and Syria have not joined forces behind the scenes?

The world just doesnt give two hoots about Lebanon because it has no fuel or any natural resources. BUT if the world is not careful and Lebanon is completely overrun (Mary Jesus and Joseph forbid!) then the terrorists have a run of the middle east, have free access to the seas... then God hope the rest of the world. Crying over the deaths of your people and the destruction of your country is not weak. On the contrary the only person that deserves respect out of all the Lebanese politicians is the PM Saniora. Unlike all the others trying to score out of this tragedy and exactly unlike our smiling idiot of a president. Saniora is the only one that foreign politicians consider important enough to talk to. The weapons of Hizballah were there because they claimed they are there to defend our country agains Israeli offensive. Yeah defending allright, when are they going to start?. They kill 2 Israelis, 20 Lebanese die. They destroy a building, 10 Lebanese buildings are turned to rubble. Israelis feel like they are fighting for their mere existance in the middle east, there is no room for a loss. It is not into their interests to let a militia claim even a symbolic victory. They really do not care if they turn our country into rubble to achieve this. The funny thing is they say they are hurting the Israeli economy and how much this war is costing Israel, however the cost to our country is nearing 10 billions if not exceeding that. When this finishes, Israel will take months maybe to get back on its feet, however our country will need years and years to be rebuilt. IT WILL BE but at what cost?. I doubt Iran and Syria will offer to help. Israel will never forget that it Hizballah claimed victory when it went out of Lebanon, the same with the Syrians. Both have been out of revenge. Israel and America do not want to get rid of the Syrian regime, but are trying to teach Syria a lesson to get it to forgo its terrorist fundings. Syria is on the other hand enjoying what it has been trying to achieve for the past year, the instability and destruction of Lebanon.
I might despise the mere mention of Israel right now, but Nasrallah will never be anything more than someone who gambled with the future of his country upon the orders of his masters.

watever the plan may be, lebanon must not give in to the coward Israel. Israel doesnt deserve to be negotiated with. I have a lot of respect for Al-Saniora who did more effort to put an end to the carnage and loss of lives on Lebanese soil. Hopefullly, the Arab leaders would unite just this time.

i THINK ur minister of economy represents the country best, he doesnt get emotional, he is very manly and looks respectable, his english is perfect, he talks sense and he doesnt get confused when asked provocative questions and no one dared to crack up at him or disagree during his speech on BCC i watched it live and he was also obliged to answer pro-israeli callers from all over the world and from israel itself, HE MADE EVERYONE EITHER AGREE WITH HIM OR JUST SHUT UP AND LISTEN. it was impressive really! no cheesy stuff

Mike, you know what? Israel also grew out of terrorism, Yitzhak Shamir, Menachem Begin AND Ariel Sharon were all leaders of the largest jewish terrorist group in Israel and all of them became Prime Ministers. It is truly unfair to say that they're leaders were not terrorists either.
