Recently, my mother has decided she wants to adopt two young children from our home country. She has mentioned this idea before, but now she seems very serious... Whenever anyone in our family mentions this idea to someone, they either think its a wonderful idea, or else they say its the silliest thing we could ever do. What do you think?

Natalie, if your family can provide financial support and love for these children then why not do it? However having anyone who does not agree will affect the child's ability to adjust. By the way, which country is it?
thank you ;)
i think it's a great idea, helping these chlidren to find homes so they can creat and begin there dreams and have a good life, there is noting wrong with it..
foofoo;
we are egyptian
thanks for ur support, u and leila
well at least they are from ur country this way they wont lose there cultural identy and feel different from ur family and i think u should adopt them young
Well good luck natalie and thanks for responding. Wish u the best... ;)
Another dated article; pure indulgence. We're too spoilt for choice!
What's the point in jumping the gun and adopting 2? One is more then enough 4 the moment, anymore might prove too much of a handful. Unless u r planning on taking twins or siblings then fair enough, otherwise one adopted kid kifaya coz it’s more about attention, love, stability and the emotional needs and comfort...it's also important that u keep the child’s identity fully intact.
Tab3an its more then commendable and your intentions are noted 3and rabinah insha'allah.
That's it...rabinah yesahilokom if u have already or do decide eventually.
hey natalie..i think its quite wonderful how your thinking about adopting but my personal opinion is different.i think if you can financially support a group of children or if you subscribe to a charity like WORLDVISION its better.thats probably because i think its unfair to other children ..especially if your going to choose 2 or 1 between them.im already supporting kids financially through 'Sans Medicins'.but then again, thats what i think only. good on you.
I think Its awonderful Idea. Helping those in need is a duty on every capable humanbeing.
As we all have known all along that adopting is a good idea, because if the kid turns out to be a bad seed, all you do is blame the genes and not your awful upbringing skills.
I agree with Blake on that issue. However to each his own.
Sam,
I just wanted to respond to you regarding the "adopt the 2 politicians for their brains" in the other topic. Are you kidding, have you ever encountered a politician who was more than slightly shrewd?. We should go for some college professors who can help put us to sleep( I know that was very ignorent stereotyping but hell...).
You have a point but still there are a FEW ok ones, I'm a huge admirer of Tony Benn who unfortunately has retired from politics. He is still a great figure in demonstrations and he's great with dialogue etc. I like George Galloway too even though he's had a few rainy days too many lately. But they both remain men with knowledge of facts, history; both are fierce when it comes to making sense of whatever it is they are addressing...those r the only 2 I can think of @ the moment but enough for our adoption procedure; one being the age of 50, and the other being somewhere between 80 and 90.
