Have you ever wanted so bad to be a singer, a dancer, an actor or thought of getting in the domain of art professionally but your family said no?!
Many families in the Middle East wouldn’t leave their children achieve their dreams if it has to do with being an artist in any way, some say parents are just respecting their cultures ;while on the other hand some people say that it is only another way of depriving a youth from achieving his/her dream and their chance to be creative ...

Would we not all wish that the parents of certain talentless artists do actually keep their children at home? They could give them a paint brush and some dough to be creative with.
Hi, it truly depends upon the family itself. If they were extremely pious and did not approve of singing, they would naturally not allow their children to pursue that dream. A family that extends large amounts of freedom will encourage its children. As the saying goes "kil mahroom margoob" so some ppl with freedom might not want to be artists all the time. Being decent artists is way more different than those who have no talent. Singing has no goal except that of entertaining other people and when comparing it to other professions, it's totally different. Bye ;)
lots of families keep thier children away from the arts not cuz thier pious, but cuz theyr worried about their kids reputation. in the arab world artists have never had a very favorable reputation, and its considered that theyr all basically s**ts.
but people should be able to tell where there talents lie and pursue that, not like some models who apparently discovered they cant sing and decided to share this info with the whole world. it has often occurred to me that they arent talented in anything.
Yes natalie it does also depend on reputation. Talents are key. If anartist has talent then it doesnt really have to matter what they look like. But sadly it has been percieved that way in the arab world. ;)
I used 2 wana b a singer..but when i got serious about it my parents wouldn't let me..:(
but now i realised i couldnt sing anyway but want to be a dancer if not model..but i know my family would never approve.. :( it depends on the family..im mixed - english and arab..but still my parents are strict!! even thou my dads not that religious and my mums not muslim..its crazy! but thats life i guess
To be honest... I think that the arab singers and actors didnt reach an international level yet such as the Indians because the majority of them especially the best talented cant go against their parents which ofcourse both I respect. However,it is worth noting that the arabs had moved a step backwords in art because loads of freedom is given to some ppl whom unfortunately didnt manage well
