Today marks the beginning of the famous Festival De Cannes, the annual film festival which has been taking place in the famous French city Cannes since 1946.
The 1st movie to premiere today is the much awaited Da Vinci Code.
One of the other movies making a boom in the festival & also premiering, is X-Men The Final Stand. But both these movies are not nominated for an award.
The festival, which oversees the competition of 20 movies for the Palme D'Or, will go on until the 28th of May, when the award ceremony will be held.
personally i read the da vinci code and i was suprised that there was so much excitement about the book when in my opinion it should be burned. the person who wrote it is sick and i can't think why there was no anger on the part of the Christian communtiy and the Pope especially. there is no longer any respect for any religion any more. i support free speech but there are bounds to everything
The Da Vinci Code book was a bit of fluff that narratively was not even written well, people only read it because of curiosity and their love of conspiracy theories. I read it because of all the hype and was not impressed. I am not even a practicing Christain and did not believe a word of it, I feel sorry for the people that actually believed. I do not think protesting against the book or movie will do any good, it will backfire actually like recent events have shown us. The movie was panned by critics who thought it was C***, but people will still watch because of the attention surrounding it.
Dan Brown is a loser who did not even give credit to his wife for doing the research for his books, untill he was obliged to do so in court.
I prefer the X men movies, they are more intelligent and more believable to me.
If you do have faith, nothing will shake it, especially a poorly written book. I think Leaders of all Faiths have to have some blame levelled at them for making people distrust religions.
