al samari

The lead actor in the first 9/11 movie United 93, will be missing out on the movie premier during Tribeca Film Festival in New York next Tuesday, because the American Embassy is denying him a Visa!
The actor Lewis Al Samari is an Iraqi who has been living in England since 1995, and was granted asylum in 1998 and who is also about to apply for British citizenship, yet the American authorities are not very excited to let him in!

The U.S. embassy in London said Lewis Al Samari, who has lived in Britain since 1995, had not given sufficient notice about his planned trip.
Al Samari says: I hope I am not going to have to wait until the film comes out in Britain to watch United 93. It seems strange that I cannot go over for the premiere.
That is so strange … Come on! He did act in the movie, and was the main character!

I do not think a role in a movie makes Arab look violent or bad. We all know that what happened at 9/11 and other actions committed by Arabs is what gave them a bad name. Do we not love to place the blame for our problems and mistakes on everyone else but ourselves. Given that he is still seeking Asylum in Britain, it is understandable that the US Immigration will be reluctant in issuing a Visa. They are probably following procedure.

@hhh stop saying bullshit:
is he responsible of our bad image ? I don't think so.
Americans are racist even if he is an Arab Christian !

Of course they are racist, and why shouldnt they be? They have all the money, power and dominace in the world and there is a little ant like you saying that an actor deserves not to be let into their country. What is wrong with your brain? do you have one even? How did you know that the movie is going to make arabs and muslims look bad? Oh I'm sorry, I didnt know you had super powers of knowing the future! Weather you like it or not, our image in the west is the worst ever and it's no thanks to you.
You dismiss the Americans as being racist, have you been there? Do you know any Americans? or are you using your spidy sense again? Well, i've been living in Britain for over 10 years and as an Iraqi, I've never EVER in all my life heard, seen or even felt the slightest act or racism nor for me, my family or friends. And no, we dont have British passports or anything!
The western societies may be alot of things but they dont show any of that. However,it has occured to me that your glorious ARAB societies are racist in nature. Admit it!
In every country I've been to, the people are racist and against WHOME, themselves!!!

Back to the actor, he has been denied a visa because of the simple fact that all Iraqis are denied weather you are poor old me or Saddam Hussein. They dont show any difference in treatment, but I ask you, try going to an Arab county, and lets see how easily you get the visa, or even after getting it, the dam thing does no good, you still have to be questioned and checked out at the airport and treated like crap. Oh but these are the wonderful non-racist countries of the east! NOOOOOT!!!!!!
