Have we given up tasting real arts for the sake of watching On Air conspiracies?!
The main idea of writing this article came to me when I read the article written about "Jacobean Building". I realized that one of the guests mentioned that he/she never heard about the novel when this novel is a best selling! I also noticed that the article, though a very important one, did not receive many comments!
Has this generation gave up tasting real arts through watching, listening and reading what is really worthy for the sake of watching such things as the "so-called" Star Academy!
Young Arabs, we have to take a step forward instead of going backward all the time, and I think the best way is to start reading. We have to start appreciating our culture as well as appreciating other cultures...
So what do you think of establishing an online Reading club on WALEG and we start reading Arabic & English books alternatively. We choose a book every month we read it and then we discuss it.
If there are enough people who agree with me, I suggest that we start with the Trilogy of Grenada by Radwa Ashour. It's a great novel and I am ready to read it thousand times and to enjoy it every time.
And instead of watching the Peep Show that will turn us into Dumb(s) and Dumber(s), let’s read and start making some Thinking Beings of ourselves.
By guest writer Mayada
mayada i want to applause to u seriously
thiis is so true i would really really really love if that idea will b applied in reality seriously this is what we need u know the first versus of Quran was "read" and guess what we dont so i really encourage this idea and this will be great
princess u know i love reading i m so passionate towards reading and when i read a book sometimes i can read 300 pages in one night if i like it that much so maybe if u can try with an intersting book like a good novel personally i love ihsan abd elqudoos so ask and see what good novels will u b intersted in like paulo coelho too so take care and let us know;)
i would read.. but i av no time. and i neva no wot book to choose, so confusing.
also mayada, thanks for that first paragraph about star academy n all dat. i wrote a comment about that once, and waleg didnt like it so they deleted it.
hey waleg...who r u guys? like wot do u do n dat? is dis ur job...dis website???
it mite sound well dumb..but i really wana no who u guys r...
o yh..n wot do u guys look like? can u show us pics of urselves :) :) :) :) :)

yeah you go girl, i dont watch star academy, too. come here and write no way. i just read quran and books and . i dont waste my time in here and write about those dont have a talents like me. and the girls and boys in here wasting their time no school or work.
i congrat you mayada, i even love to go watch movies. so i guess they dumb and dumber..
peaze
masrya,
Check our 'about us' page for more information about us. (You can find the link below)
oooooh thnkyou waleg....sorry ana homara
well all of you'll watch staracademy because youll know more info than the person that watches it. I don't agree with the idea of starac but it's good for entertainment that all i don't like what they do but i watch it for fun and want to know who'll be the next arab singer
i do not think ppl that watch staracademy have nothing to read or have no job whatsoever, i go university and i work in the same time, i have loads of stuff to read, and i love watching staracademy, it is like my break time, i usualyl wait my friday's with anticipitation. however, i do miss the dailys from time to time when i have loads of stuff to do.
and personally, people who have grew up in the west would not know 3imarat ya38obiyan that much, i personally knew about the novel from the arabic satellite t.v. and i do want to watch the movie, even though i hate 3adil imam (yaks) but im curious about the story.
but i do agree to a certain level, that not everyone is there for the knowledge to be, lots of ppl like bonehead stuff, but then again, we are judging from the people we meet.
and something i've noticed about the people that come to this site, not alot of ppl are tolerant to other pple's opinion, at times they seem religiously radical or too traditionally narrow-minded. but then again, there are lots of teens around, and that can spoil the fun at time but u do read awesome intakes in here.
so bye for now ;)
I would love to be a part of this idea.I think it would be good for people and fun to discuss!!!
Thank you all for supporting my idea. Shall we start applying it from now. ok lets strat reading the Triology of Gernada and we meet here again after one month to discuss the novel.
I am sure you will all enjoy reading it.
If someone wants to comment while reading lets write to each other through the same link.
Thank you all
and Thank God that there are some people here who are still thinking
Thanxs EGYPTIAN and PROUD,
U know i used to read some "romans à l'eau de rose" like "Herequin series" when i was teenager. i used to read one by night. hahaha
After that, I tried something more complicated, like Emile zola, flaubert, Borges (i like this one cuz he's crazy a bit), and even Taha hessein...
But, those days, i lost the patience. I cant read 300 pages to find only some few good ideas.
But I'll try to read again. Promis.
by the way, can someone tell me what "Jacobean building" is talking about ?
To Princess,
Jacobean building is a novel written by Alaa El Asounay. It is about a building located Down Town (Egypt) called Jacobean Building (by the way there is a real building located down rown that carries the same name and this made a lot of fuss to the writer who used to live in this bulding).
The novel sheds light on the various peaople living in this building. They are various people with different cultural & social backgrounds.
How they all come to be gathered in the same place? what are the political & social changes that occured during the period (since the year 1952? How did these changes affect the lives of these different people?
My own opinion:
- Let me tell you, it is a lively human panorama.
- If you want to read, let me tell you it is not conservative at all, it is dealing with various sexual concepts & is using everyday language that is sometimes so bold.
- I beleive it has a lot of truth in it.
- I didnt think the style, the technique & the language were strong enough.
My advise:
Enjoy a novel only by reading it, as much as you read as much as you know.
To princess
Sorry!
the questions:
How they all come to be gathered in the same place? what are the political & social changes that occured during the period (since the year 1952? How did these changes affect the lives of these different people?
is what this novel is all about

ah ok bambucha
i really dont know i never heard abt it but i guess u ll find it in any book store too
where r u from?
BAMBUCHA,
We will feature the book today on our home page with the details where to get it :)
Dear Bambucha,
The Trilogy of Grenada, (ثلاثية غرناطة) is written by an Egyptian writer "Dr. Radwa Ashour", she is a professor of English Literature at Ain Shams University.
I want to add that Radwa Ashour received an award from Mrs. Suzan Mubarak for this novel.
I read the novel in Arabic. The novel is available in Egypt & Lebanon (these are where I am sure of) in Arabic language but I don't really know if it has been translated to any other language. I will check this for you.
However I prefer if you can read it in Arabic, the novel is written in such a language that will be a great addition to your Arabic.
This novel is a blend of a fairy tail and a real (VERY REAL) story; maybe what I would like to call THE STORY OF US. It is written in an elevated language, the style of a long experienced writer and you will feel this with every line you read.
It will touch you as a real story and you will live in it as if in a dream.
If you need more Info don't hesitate to address me.
And hurry up, i want to hear about your reaction to the novel
Sincerely yours
Dear EGYPTIAN and PROUD,
I am Egyptian and proud too, and I am proud of you.
Concerning Jacobean Building, I prefer you read it before you watch the movie and then you can compare as I believe the movie will include a lot of additions.
But mind, as I told Princess, the novel is not conservative at all, the thing which made a lot of people dislike it.
Yet you have the choice and you can't take others judgments for granted, you read and you judge.
You can find the Trilogy of Grenada in all Egyptian bookshops, buy it and read it.
I can't wait to hear your opinion about it.
Yours sincerely
To EGYPTIAN and PROUD:
many thanks i m from tunisia so i don't know whether i can find this book or no
To Mayada:
thankx to you too i m quite happy that there are poeple who still care about reading. Merci infiniement mayada :)
To waleg & the readers:
I have a suggestion for you and the other readers: is it possible that each month one propose a title to read and then we discuss it in a forum related to this site?
MAYADA i m proud of u too really;)

masryeen agda3 naas

Waleg
Plz waleg i want to read the Trilogy of Grenada
you said u will put it on the home page but i didn't find it :(
To Egyptian and Proud
Sure you can add me to the msn, I would like to be friends
Do you like 11 minutes? I want to read it too
The only novel I read for Coelho is the Alchemist and I had to read it twice to absorb the whole idea and I think I will read it for a third time, it is such a deep novel that you can change the scope every time you read it.
Masrya
I agree with you too I hope we can bridge some good relationships here between us Egyptians and guys and girls from other Arab countries instead of the wars that are being waged among us because of the meaningless, superficial and trivial "Star Academy"!
I really don’t understand what do the people behind this show are trying to do, they are planting hatred everywhere and they are especially targeting young minds, believe me it doesn’t seem like a game!
TO ALL,
I LOVE THE WHOLE ARAB WORLD, I LOVE ALL ARABS, I WISH WE ARE ALL FRIENDS (REAL FRIENDS), I WISH WE STICK TOGETHER, I WISH WE SHOW THOSE WHO ARE SHOWING THE WOREST OF US THAT WE ARE NOT AND WE WILL NOT BE WHAT THEY WANT US TO BE AND DESPITE ALL THE POISON AND ALL THE DISCRIMINATION STILL WE WILL BE STRONG AND TOGETHER ;-)
To Mayada:
Plz i couldn't find the book i want to read plz
You know mayada i m so grateful to u coz it is thanks to u that i will come back to my favourite hobby: reading.
being so busy at work distanced me from reading

BAMBUCHA,
I answered you but you didn't notice my answer above so i delete it!
Anyway, i was so busy and tired because i got the flu ... the information will be available today. (Q: Would you be able to buy it on the web?)
thank you Waleg :)
i wish you recover veRy soon from the flu
i m waiting for the information
Kind regards,
BAMBUCHA
