Waleg I have to say you just touch a sensitive point. Before Dan Browns I was not a big reader. Just some book like harry potter or lord of the rings but the day I read the Davinci code I can't stop reading. I read Angel and Deamon too it was great I didn't know there is another one for Dan brown I can't wait to read this one.
People if you didn't read Dan brown novels you have to try it because it's just amazing.
fetfet,
Dan Brown also has another book called Deseption Point.
Check the link above of Dan Brown's Books :)
(Just added it for you & you can get it from Amazon).
Oh I love rading so much. I am fond of Victor Hugo, specially "Les Miserables" that I found fantastic. I actually cried when I red it. It's shwoing u how France was really miserable at one point and how closed-minded and heartless people were. Same thing for "Germinal" from Emile Zola, where French pple had to endure poverty for so many years before the french revolution!
i love reading books, scary and mysterous, comedies. i like reading books of R.L. Stine scary. the baby sitter it is cool, also tomb raider who got a stuck in egypt. i have goosebumps books is great. i just read and read until i sleep, but i have to read stories so i can speak english very well and writing letters with verbs and grammar.
thank you

Reading books has been my passion for years and thank you Waleg for bringing this topic for discussion. I like to read novels and short stories and sometimes poetry in Arabic and English, my favorite Arab author is Taha Hussien who wrote "Al Ayyam" and from the West Oscar Wilde "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and Anne Rice who wrote The Vampire Chronicles like "Interview with the Vampire" which had been made into a movie starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst. The book that I'm anxious to read is "Banat Al Riyadh" by Raja Al Sane, 24 from Saudi Arabia whose work created a lot of controversy because of the nature of her characters in her first novel.
Thank you all for sharing what you read with us, thats very interesting.
It will be great from time to time to have you as a guest writer telling us about a book you have read and enjoyed :), if you wish to do that anytime - now or in the future - just go to this page: http://www.waleg.com/guest-writer.html
Looking forward to hearing from you :)
I have all of Dan Browns books but i never get around to reading them,i read a little of The da vinci code which at first looked incredibly amazing but i failed to read it all,i look forward to the movie coming out.
I read Khalil Gibran's book "the prophet" it is simply one of the best books,a must read book.I also read Charlotte brontes books mostly in school.I've read goosebumps stories and the baby sitter club those were when i was younger but nice books. The Book "litte women" by Lousia May Alcott is also really good.Dalai Lama's books are also very interesting and different,i think i read a book for him about him speaking to a God who was replying to him and Dalia asks him questions and God answers,it was great.
Yes, i read books. I have read things from harry potter books(Huge fan, read all 6), to political books. I have read about socialism, capitalism, democrats, republicans. I have read about religion, i have read the bible, i read the quran. I have read about history such as world war 1 and 2(both sides), about the great depression, and a lil about the soviet union and vietnam. I have also read about omnipotence. I read lots and lots of things, most of which are educational, and political.
Thank u so much ya hager for advising me to read "Au bonheur des dames" Emile Zola. Oui je lis tous mes livres en francais.
Bandari, I have heard of the book Banat Al Riyadh by Rajaa Al Sane', and saw her interview with Zahi Wahbeh on Future, I am excited about her book and already looking forward to reading it. She sounded like what a young, female Arab author should be. Hopefully her book will hit the bookstores in other Arab countries soon.
Waleg: If you like Dan Brown, read the teacher of Brown and his likes, Umberto Eco Foucault's Pendulum. Flawless, masterpiece of theological fiction as well. :) No offense, but Dan Brown's book (The Da Vinci Code) is full of historical, and art history flaws and it was poorly written as well from a stylistic point of view.
All the best,
To BeirutBlues,
Banat Al Riyadh has been a major success in Lebanon because 50,000 were sold at the book expo. What I like about Raja is her self -confidence and intelligence as being able to critisize those narrow minded people who don't appreciate any good work done by a female.
Enjoy reading it :)
Dan Brown's books are excellent! When U first start reading U can't stop! I read The Da Vinci Code in like 4 days! I was totally addicted to it! I'm thinking about reading Angels & Deamons, but isn't it very much the same story?..
THANKS TO WALEG!
Natasha,
No, its not the same story although there are some similarities. I strongly recommend you to read it, its a page turner :)
