Gibran & the Prophet Musical Play

Gibran & the Prophet Musical Play

"Gibran & the Prophet" is going to be played again for a month after the big success in summer 2005 during Byblos International Festival. Gibran & the Prophet is a musical play by Oussama Rahbani based on "The Prophet" by Gibran Khalil Gibran, written by outstanding Mansour Rahbani and directed by Marwan Rahbani.

Artists: Amani Al Soueissi (Starac 2), Rafik Ali Ahmed, Ghassan Saliba and other 100 artists.
Gibran & the Prophet is a dramatic duality that reunites Gibran the Writer (Rafik Ali Ahmed) with the hero of his novel The Prophet (Ghassan Saliba); it also brings together Mary Haskel (Julia Kassar), his confidante and the woman who inspired him, and the temple priestess Al Mitra (Amani Al Souessi).

I've watched the play 4 nights out of 5 during summer and I highly recommend it to you.
We find our selves in a fantasy world confronting the real one, where Gibran and his hero are the same person and Mary Haskel is no else but the priestess AL Mitra. New York becomes Orphelis, the perfect city drawn by Gibran himself who wants to run away from this material world and longs for his oriental identity. Gibran & the Prophet is a musical play that combines Khalil Gibran's everlasting philosophy with Mansour Rahbani's inspiring wisdom.

Ghassan Saliba is one outstanding artist, he is a true performer. He never cared about fame or money, but truly workrd for his art. I love the song "Watani", it is truly amazing. What an amazing voice he has. I am sure Amani will be good.
