There are many Arab Canadian, Americans, Europeans around in here, so we all must be enduring some kind of "similar" challenges. No I’m not talking about the London bombing and its implication on the Muslim/ Arab communities outside.
My topic is about finding the right match, and given the demographics, i.e. being a "minority", it is then, very hard to find Mr. right or Miss right...
I just wonder, when I sit down in my class, surrounded by all Canadians, very few Arabs, and those few Arabs, does give me the wider range to choose from and I most of the time ending up liking no one. And me being a girl adds another complexity, even though my parents don’t mind me marrying a non Arab guy unless he converts (and I don’t like doing that to other people), besides most of the time I found most of the western guys don’t quite understand from where I come from, and it just kills me, how I see lots of pretty and smart young Arab girls single.
I mean for all the ones who found their "match"? how did you do it, where did you go, I know those questions sound funny, but honestly, I'm having a hard time finding me a decent person, leave alone the fact that many Arabic youth are quite on the opposite spectrum of being too loose, flashy or too religious, balanced people, where are you?

well.. I'm finding it kind of hard too - but I don't have a problem about being single. I believe it gives you a kind of freedom. No doubt that the other way around, you feel safe if you are with a person that you like and feel happy with.

I too feel happy that i'm single , it is alot of freedom and there is no guy that can bother me with my own time. But, i do feel the need to find a decent, balanced guy to share quality time with, and i have not foud him yet. i know it has some kind of irony, that people want freedom but partnership in the same time, i guess, its just human nature.
and how about age, does age really matter, of course i'm talking regarding arab guys, western guys dont seem to be that picky when it comes to age.

first, I don't beleive in having a woman convert to islam for me to marry her, and same goes for the aposite sex.
Miss right, ammm.... there are a lot of beautiful hearted people living here in the USA, truly amazing muslims (arab and non arab girls), but I belive that culture and religion are very important for any two to bind together with harmony. A lot of muslims that have stripped their culutre and identity that i've met here, try to fit-in the american society and be "cool" which is ok with me, but if they do so by forgetting their own identity, culture and religion (themselves) is a big mistake; they're often unhappy and get hurt from others and wonder why is this happening to them eventhough they mean no harm to anyone . they spend all of their lives going out partying and they're still not happy;they're simply are looking in the wrong places. I have also looked in wrong places but when i started reading, I learned more about myself and others, and I know now that I have a duty to my family, community to have a good family and that won't happen if i have a confused wife.
we still need to go out and have fun, 'cause Islam and all religions don't tell you you have to be grim and not have fun, which is a common mistak, as long as we have fun in the boundaries of Islam.

Try being half persian and half Italian adopted by americans, raised on a cattle ranch that can speak spanish and english only... now you tell me where I can find a nice arab man, that can deal with all that mix... for that matter, tell me where any arab ppl are in Texas.... nI think with any one it is hard to find the right one, we are so busy looking for what we THINK is the right person that we over look the ones that could be whom we are to be with...its like looking for your car keys, youll never find it till you stop looking ;)
