A Muslim Girl in Denmark

I've got the impression that many of us are living outside the Arabic countries. So therefore I would like to share some of my opinions with you about how it is to live in a country in Europe.
I live in Denmark, and I'm a Muslim girl who's 16-years old. I wear hijab, and sometimes it causes me trouble.

Once I was walking downtown in Copenhagen with a Danish friend, and all of a sudden a guy steps in front of me and spits me in my face and yells to me that I should go back where I come from. No surprise, I began to cry because it hurts to be humiliated in front of so many people...

I'll never forget that episode, but it never changed anything in my opinions about the Danish people. Many of them are very kind human beings, and almost all my friends are Danish. I've always been on a Danish school, and now when I'm in high school I still meet the greatest Danes who respect me and my religion. They take a look on my personality, and not on my outfit.

It's kind of hard to find a job just to make some money, because I wear hijab. But lhamdilla now I'm working in a great place with the kindest boss.

No doubt that I would choose to live in Lebanon, where I'm from, but then again - it would be VERY hard to leave all the good things behind here in Denmark.

EVERYWHERE AROUND THE WORLD THERE ARE IGNORANT PPL. THIS REMINDS ME OF SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED TO A VERY CLOSE FRIEND OF THE FAMILY'S DAUGHTER IN LEBANON. SHE WAS A CHRISTIAN GIRL ABOUT 8 YEARS OLD, SHE LIVED IN A MUSLIM AREA, THIS WAS DURING THE WAR WHEN BEIRUT WAS SPLIT INTO CHRISTIAN AND MUSLIM AREAS. she was walking back from school wearing a cross on a chain around her neck. as she walked past some palestinian gunmen they walked up to her ripped the cross from around her neck threw it on the floor stepped on it spat on it and gave the little girl a slap which sent her to the floor. i wont repeat the stuff that these so called muslims said about the virgin mary and jesus. anyway these episodes happened to both christians or muslims depending where they lived.
it is minorities like these that plant hate in the minds of ppl, and im glad that you didnt accuse all the danish ppl of being like the fool that spat on you.

hijab or no hijab ur still muslim!but if u didnt where the hijab would that still have happened to u?well because my sister wheres the hijab and unlike u and that guy she gets a lot of respect more than she usually did.

    thanx for ur comment "MOI"..
just wanted to say, that it would be impossible for me to judge everyone here in DK because I live here. I can't set a 'wall' up between me and Danish people because I live WITH them.
anyway the racisme here in DK is getting larger especially after the attack on London..

    for just someone:
I don't think that it would have happened no, because a dark-skinned girl could be a christian girl just as she could be a muslim - but the hijab is a symbol. And I think the symbol is exactly what bothers them.
I get very much respect many places, and especially in my highschool where I'm the only muslim girl. From girls and from boys that respect the differences that are between us..
Glad to hear about your sister, but in wich country do you live ?
    Glad

HOW cute Mr. MOI!!! You are so good at making up stories and examples that fit your agenda. So you are trying to tell us that the poor christians in lebanon are an abused minority. And also the palestinians are dirty people.

Well, I have news for you, everyone here sees through you. We all know that the christians in lebanon have their full rights. And as for the Palestinians, they are noble people. Every country has its crap... I will never let you get away with trying to put down people and spread hate between the arabs based on religion and nationality.

Back in the war in Lebanon lots of awfull things happened - from the christians and from the palestenians. I don't think he was trying to expose the palestenians, and even if 'MOI' did - we all know that also christians have done awful things against palestenians and muslims back in the war.

thanx alot for ur comment. It means alot to me to read these comments.
all that matters for me is my religion and the picture that i give to people by all the things i do everyday.
Muslims in Denmark should be very aware of the things they do, because it counts for 100 times more than it would do for someone from Denmark.
Thats why muslims girls always should respect themselves so people can respect them..

I feel soooo sad to hear such a story...inshallah everything will be better in the world and I know how you feel I'm muslim living in a foreign country and I would just go crazy if anyone did that to my cousins or my mom because of their choice of religious expression! I hope you were not hurt from the inside and we share something we both love lebanon and we are very very close in age.....I hope you feel better and don't let anyone put you down

    MISKINA,

read carefully what i wrote ya airhead. i said episodes like these hapened to both christians and muslims during the war. its funny how you are still assuming that im a christian lebanese belonging to the lahd SLA. you cannot be further away from the truth. looooooooool, but i do understand why the SLA united with the israelis, when you are a very small minority surrounded by blood thirsty neighbours who are your fellow country men who just wanna cut your throat for being a different religion, you have no choice but to unite with the enemy to make sure you survive. The lebanese war was not a normal war. muslim killed muslim and christian killed christian. brothers who fought side by side one day turned their guns against each other the next. its true i do not like palestinians much and i do not hide the fact at all. but just to let you know that i do support financially as best that i can palestinian charities. and i do go to rallies to show my support towards the palestinian cause. but when i hear ungrateful palestinians like you talking and when i remember that the palestinians started the war in lebanon because they wanted to make a state within a state in the country that lent them a helping hand, dont forget that 350 000 palestinian refugees still live in lebanon. 350 000 armed refugees where not even the lebanese army can even enter their moukhayameit to disarm them. and when i hear the palestinian speakers in those rallies that i attended talking so much crap about the khaleejis especially the king of saudi arabia may god protect him and make him better (saudi arabia is the biggest and has allways been the biggest financial contributer to the palestinian cause) it makes me think why bother with a sha3b bajam like your beloved palestinians. the post that i wrote is absolutely true. it happened just like i wrote it. i can give you many other stories from both christian and muslim sides actually. and to let you know i dont care much about religion. i believe in god thats all. i do not follow the koran or the bible. i follow my brain and what i think is good or bad. i communicate direct with god and dont need a sheikh or a priest or any holy book to teach me.
the reason i chose this story to tell is to show that there is hate from both sides whether its christian to muslim or muslim to christian. natasha showed one side and i showed the other.

MOI, you disgree with yourself so often its ridiculous. I have reached the conclusion that you are truely and certainly crazy.

You have such a hatred for the palestinians but you support their cause although you love Israel and pray for its survival!!!! You are taralali. You ready need a visit to the 3asfouriyeh ;)

As for me, I am not palestinian, although I would love to be. Sure khaleejis paya lot of money for th epalestinians, buth they are the ones that sold palestine years ago. Their money did not get the palestinians anywhere, if they allowed their nations to actually fight for palestine, we would have a palestinian state by now. So quit defending those alcoholic sick sheep jockeys...

    Mistika
  1. MOI | July 15, 2005 5:10 AM

THE PALESTINIANS THEMSELVES SOLD THEIR LAND. AND THATS A FACT. yes i support the state of israel because unlike what you think not all jews or israelis are bad. some of them do actually wanna live side by side with the palestinians. and the israelis have as much right to that land as the palestinians. and if you read up on your history you will realise that when israel was created armies from syria jordan egypt as well as saudi arabia fought to crush it. but they ended up losing. dont forget that when israel was created the oil rich arab countries had only discovered oil for a short time and were no way as rich as they are now. as far as me helping financially the palestinians... well im only doing it to help the children to get maybe an education or to help feed them. im just doing it not because i like palestinians im doing it from a humanitarian point of view. and if im gonna end up helping someone i would help an arab before anybody else.
as far as you calling khaleejis sick... well let me tell you that the lowest khaleeji is worth 1 million of you and your beloved lowlife palestinians.
the minute you stand up and take arms against israel and their protectors that you claim that you love so much (the usa)... is the minute that the khaleejis will fight for palestine. so hush your dirty mouth up. and stop talking nonesence.

I have asked u before to stop commenting on what MOI says. I feel MOI is waging some kind of war here between different nations and different religions.

Plz Moi is making us appear as brutals, plz dont contribute to this evil plan and reply to the wicked comments.

As for the Palestinians whom MOI claims have sold their lands (as a fact) !

No this is not true, I am not from palestine and I know this is a zionist myth to make the future palestinian generations lose confidence in their ancestors as traitors and lose hope in their country and so give it up.

I promise I will bring u the whole true story later on WALEG.

    dolly
  1. MOI | July 15, 2005 2:21 PM

    dolly,

you are missing the point here. WALEG is a site for ppl to post comments on. if you dont like my point of view then just ignore it. but i'm sure not gonna change my thoughts and ideas to suit your tiny mind. its true that not all palestinians have sold their lands. but the majority did and fled yes some of them had their lands stolen from them and it is still happening today but its a small minority. but some did not sell did not flee and havent had their lands stolen from them either. they stayed behind and are what we call israeli arabs now. read up on your facts before posting them. dont fall in the trap that many if not most arabs are falling into believing that the palestinians are such an abused ppl by the evil country of israel. sure attrocities do happen, but then again they do happen from the palestinian side too. look at the palestinians in jordan. until today they still have more loyalty to the socalled palestine then they do towards jordan the land that gave them a home. ask any real jordanian what he thinks of palestinians and believe me they never say nice things about them. go see what the palestinians have done to lebanon and what they are still doing there. there is not one single country that took in palestinian refugees that the palestinians did not cause trouble in somehow.
as far as me waging a war between religions and nations well you could not be further away from the truth. i actually see no difference between religions colours race or nations. i have friends from many countries. ill name just a few. chinese american jamaican indian pakistani burmese israeli palestinian iraki both kurds and arabs saudis kuweitis bahrainis imarati yemeni syrian jordanian iranian french british etc etc.... i could go on for ever. i mix around with ppl of all religions too. if you think you can accuse me of racism well think again.

p.s: the palestinian refugees will never return to the land they claim is rightfully theirs. i think all countries that have refugees in them should give them the nationality. the only problem is will these palestinians ever feel patriotic to the country that adopted them. history has proved that the answer is NO. thats the problem with palestinians, they are ungrateful and they hate everyone. they cannot be trusted.

I am from the USA, I live in the southern state of Virginia. I am not Muslim but many of my husband's friends wives have converted to Islam and have embraced the hijab. Though I don't agree with wearing it, not that I think it is bad, but because I know the stigmatisms that are associated with it. These wives go on job interviews and are never called back. People yell at them when they are driving about "Take that stupid rag off your head!" Not everyone is like those idiots but here, if you wear hijab, you can expect to be overlooked by employers or spoken down to by idiots. You have to be very strong to wear it here. Hats off to anyone who can and survive. One of the wives has been considering taken the hijab off so that she can have a better life here.

No offense was meant, so I don't understand the tone your post carried. All I am saying is that if you chose to wear it where I live, then unfortunately, you accept what comes with it. People here are not as accepting as in other parts of the world. I have complete admiration for those who do it wear it and keep their chin up! It's wonderful for them. But it is HARD! That is all I am saying. AND that IF I were Muslim, I COULD NOT wear it!!!!! Not with the stigmas, ostracizing of peers and familial pressures. And my husband criticizes my religion EVERY DAY and I have not changed it!! But I have taken my cross necklace off as the sight of it made my husband crazy!!!!

Please note that the French law banned ALL religious signs from public school including the veil. That means jews can't wear their kippas, the christians their crucifixes and so forth..
But while other religions abide by the laws of the state they live in, Muslims not only whine and complaine and victimize themselves but go kidnapping, decapitating, bombing and downing civilian airplanes. I've never seen a christian go decapitating an Arab just because he weren't allowed to enter a Bible to saudi arabia or oblige his women to wear hijab in Iran for instance!

you fall in that idiotic minority of christian lebanese who deny that they are arabs and still consider themselves phoenicians.

just remember who rebuilt lebanon after the war. just remember who until now is pouring money into lebanon to guarantee its survival, whether its the 1.2 million tourists that visited last year, or the khaleeji governments that are giving you loans as well as financial aid.
dont forget who put pressure on syria to pull out of lebanon, or until now you would still be under jazmit biyei3 el ka3k.

as far as calling najwa and diana slu7s... well look around you habibi.... the majority of girls are like them. i'm sure you know what im talking about. i dont need to think twice, if you live in lebanon then all you gotta do is go out and look in the night clubs and restaurants and streets and see whats happening.
roy my dear little boy. stand in front of the mirror and look into your own eyes and dont be scared to repeat these words. ''I ROY FROM LEBANON IS AN ARAB. I'M A CHRISTIAN ARAB FROM LEBANON, I'M A PROUD CHRISTIAN ARAB FROM LEBANON, '' try it and believe in it and believe me you will feel much better and you will fit in better and you will finally be accepted and you will finally be grown up enough to run your own country because at the moment with your idiotic narrow minded middle aged thoughts you will allways need big brother syria running you.

I did not seek out an ARAB/Muslim husband...it just happened. I met him in a night club and was told he was french. Only after I got to know him did he admit where he was from. By then I was charmed! So it didn't matter. Religion wasn't a big deal then as he was not true to his faith. Only after our first child did he become religious. So, I guess I was tricked by him. But now it's too late...we have children and I love him, for better or worse...granted there is a lot of the worse than the better. I could not have foreseen his future behavior. So...I either have the man I am married to or I could be married to an American Christian man who drinks and runs around with other women.....which is the lesser of 2 evils!!!!

    Hello Everyone.
Um, first of all, Natasha I am very sorry about what happened to you and hope you are fine. Um, second of all, I live in Pennsylvania, America. I was actually born here, but I am a Christian Syrian and I come from Wadi El Nasara, or Valley of Christians in Ancient Antioch,Syria. After September 11, 2001 I was only in 6th grade, but I gained so much respect from my teachers because they saw the love and pride that I had towards my country, Syria.I didn't hide like my other Arabic friends did Christian or Muslim, even though there were misunderstandings. I keep with me my Holy Bible and I always were the necklace of the Holy Cross, the head of Jesus Christ with the crown of thorns, and small icon of the Virgin Mary, and I was the only child in the class that was like that no America nor Arab. But still they thought I was a muslim, and classified as terrorist. lol. But I would stand up for the muslims because not all are bad and terrorists, and the muslims are my fellow Arab brothers or sisters and in Christ. And once these kids thought Arabs all Christian and Muslim worshipped camels.lol.that was just plan stupidness from them. But now to move on to my the elders in my family, my uncles boss was a strict white person who hated any one else even though my uncle wore a cross and always crossed himslef, so my uncle stood up for being an arab, cursed the guy in his face and left the job finding a better one. my dad's name is Nizar, and arab name obviosly, and that caused problems with the customers even though my dad always crosses himself, but my dad didnt give either but stood up for his nationality as being an Arab. He is the best worker that the company has and they asked him to become manager more than once, but he didnt want to even though most of the responsibilty is on the assistant managaer that he is.
But as for me school was great though. I was the top student in all my classes and now Im in High School with High Honors, Nishkar Allah. My teachers love and respect me because I am proud of who I am a Christian and an Arab, and I remain loyal to my great and pure values and morals of the Holy Bible and my people. Also my teachers at school during Homeroom or Study Period, I sit with them and they ask questions and they want to know more about my heritage and values and morals and customs, and my teachers have also many arab friends that come from my village in syria and go to my church, and they love arabic foods and enjoy going to the festivals done here and the valley.
Sry, Im just saying how things went here for my family, but we have to be proud of who we are and were we come from. If we are not, they will stomp on us and bring us down, not allowing us to rise again, and we need to stop them! And besides terrorists in the eyes of our Holy Lord and Savior is anyone that kills or hurts or scarys even just one person. So those that say they are fighting terrorism are actually promoting terrrorism not preventing it. And anyone who says is going to war b/c God want them to, is a liar b.c Allah doesn't want us to kill but wants us to live in peace with one another.
Um May God Bless You All and Best of Wishes.

its very hard if u dont live in ur country which ur origin is i live in austrlia and was born here but my parents are both born and lived most of their lives in lebanon. its really hard and i am a boy and i was born here and people are very racist just because i am a muslim but i am not ashamed of it and to tell i dont care wat they say because in the end its not them who judge you its god but lately with the london bombings its even extremely hard to even talk to people in my grade people i have since i was in primary school some people understand but those that do are my age and over 16-18 but we have to walk with our heads up high and have pride in ourselves and ou religion what ever ur religion might be. but good on u you are very brave and as i said god will judge u not those who think they are right ok .
