I’m not sure whether we should describe Amr Khaled as “elegant” or “fashionable”, but that is what nearly everyone thinks of him.
It was very obvious what sorts of people he attracted when he used to give religious sermons in the classy “Agouza” neighborhood in Cairo, by only looking at the Mercedes parked outside, and the expensive shoes on the doorsteps.
It was the women in particular who got sucked in by his message that was as far as could be from politics. Nevertheless, it was very convincing.
What Khaled talks about mostly is the story and life of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and his friends, in an easy way that even the simplest of people would understand.
For some reason at some point, he was forced to leave the “Agouza” to the 6th October city, and give his sermons there, yet that didn’t stop the Mercedes and elegant shoes from becoming more and more on his doorstep.
Khaled’s effect on women was very evident; uncountable numbers of women, some of which are the rich graduates of the American university in Cairo and the international colleges as well, decided to wear the “Hijab” the head scarf and long, baggy dresses.
Not only did this happen in Egypt, but all over the Arab world, thanks to his sermons that are know all over the satellite channels.
By the year 2002, he was forced to leave Egypt, and headed towards Lebanon and England, where he became even more famous … he isn’t elegant only, he is now a Star!
Some people find him honest and near to the heart, others find him unbearable ...

i think he is one of the people that can make changes in the world
well, i don't think that we should believe everything that we hear from this guy. Becasue we should believe in ourslves and trust ourselves to make the right decision throught our lifetime and we definalty don't need anyone to tell us what to belive in and how we act.

i totally agree with you but it seems ppl in the arab world needs ppl to tell them what to do. i mean if there is a high illitracy rates anywhere, it should be the responsibility of the government and citizens alike to educate,
i mean having a guy tell u this kind of things is just plain funny.
First of all I don't think it's right to see the fancy side , or the elegance of Amr Kahled, and foget about all the good things he does.....
I listened to him few time, and I honestly think that he is one of the modern muslim, who is helping the new generations understand and follow their religions without extremism...He helped a lot of people learn how to read, write, and learn tools to help them get jobs....When you talk about him having a Mercededs..anyone can get a Mercedes nowdays..I've seen a priest leaving the church and driving Mercedes!!!!!
Some of Non Muslim wants Muslim to be ignorant, to look like terrorist extremist to tell the world look at theses ignorant they are terrorists, not modern,,,,.,,etc
As far as the people who follow Amr Khalid they are not ignorant like you mentioned leila and Dina...most of them are highly educated you just need to visit his website to see what kind of people are part of the group, they Doctors, PHD's...and university students....
God sent us prophets like Saidena Mohamed, Jesua, Ibrahim...with Holly books to help people follow the right decisions....there is nothing wrong of having a good modern young and wise man like Amr Khaled to help young muslims look at their faith in the good side that other people are trying to erase....
God Help Amr Khaled in his accomplishments.....
He knows his stuff... He speaks well.. His voice is annoying... Having said that... I could believe him but I don't... It could be me, or it could be him... only time will tell..
Until then we should listen to him take the good and follow it.. After all, he is not inventing anything but merely repeating what our prophet and his people said. He became a star, that is not my concern, if his message helps better us regardless of his intentions, more power to him....
Him being a star should not bother anyone... you should be bothered by Ruby and Kuki and Fufi being stars... at least he has his clothes on and doesn't touch himself in public ;)

u misunderstood me, i did not ssay ppl who listen to him are ignorant, i mean my parents love this guy!
but sometimes i c, the things he says we have to do, is a no-brainer ..but then i guess, it is the arab world. everyone cares about their interests only, and so , he is like what you said. (i know i just generlized in here...sorry, its just me )

By the way, i hate the way this article portrays Amr Khaled; he has so much better than that!.......anyone can buy A mercedes,,,,,I can buy one and i haven't accomplishment anythign in my life for my own good and others, and he has done that!........i like my religion but he actually really makes me listen and is very convincing. for those like dina and leila that think he puts beliefs in people's minds, he doesnt, he directs people through their own beliefs and he actually provides the arabic world with something more than how beautiful or skinny u can be.
to be quiet honest i dont like him at all. i hate his voice, and many of his opinions. iprefer mohamed hedaya ablaa el ka7lawy,and abdallah she7ata allah yer7amo.

i think is guy is a great speaker about politics and religion...my parants luv him hes great ....

Amr Khaled is doing really great job, god bless him. But you should know that Amr "is just good" for people that are very farfrom religion (and they're a lot these days), he's really good to help finding the way of god, and believe me he helped lot of my friends !
I think Amr Khaled is a brilliant actor... he has mesmerized so many stupid and empty minds I personally think he sucks and his voice is sooooooo annoying and every story he tells he is acting it so as to have a better effect on people who is he to teach us islam eih el kalam el faregh dah
One strange thing some people can't get out of the devil inside themselves this guy is nice and whatever he is doing is OK why some people use unlovely words like hate ugly ......
This guy is an angel. He's a gem...I just saw him with Mahmoud Sa3d recently, and he never fails to get my utmost admiration. God bless him.

i personally hate him and all my family does too, many of his stories are not true as i heard from many people. his voice is annoying and as basboussa said he is a big actor

Each wise person even non Muslim when they hear Amr Khaled talk will admire him...We should not talk about just how elegant he is because "Allah Jameel You7hebu Al Jamal" but just look at the results and accomplishements of having him around.......Talk is cheap but we've seen only actions from this great man wether he is an accountant or a mechanic....he knows his stuff and he is just telling us what's in Quran......

hey i love amr khaled mashaa allah he is great. I think there are two leila's in here and im one of them but from now on ill say lula so ppl do not get confused. So what if his voice is annoying? He is truly an amazing speaker. Bes, you can tell who is far from their religion and who isnt by those who say "he puts ideas in ppls heads". Those who listen to what he really says know he is doing a great job and he will keep doing it because he is influencing many youths across the world. Egypt kicked him out because the government was afraid that his ideas would cause a rebellion among the ppl etc.. along those lines. So salamss everyone

People as far as i read you all said that you like this guy becasue he repeats what is in the Quran, shows you the right way, and is a great speaker. But in my opinion they you should respect a person by who he or she really is not by the way he speaks and a reapeats another perosns words. He maybe a man of wisdom but he's not a man of heart. Can you tell me what he does of all the money he gets? Do you know what he is really like as a person? It's seems to me he's like the people in the United States who prech and get money for talking and not doing anything else. I am not saying that you shouldn't listen to him. I am saying that people should believe in whatever they want and not have the pressure of conslulting a guy that doesn't have the words of his own. We has human being have the right of our own free well, I can't see myself listening to this guy without knowing him and respect him. He is merly a person that wants fame like some other that came before him.
the point that i am making is that people should allow their selves to find what they are looking for faith, religion, love,and etc. We should have control of our own live and we should not be brain washed by a guy that probably does not know who he really is as a person.

First of all Allah's words are holly words so I don't agree with the words you used "he speaks and a reapeats another perosns words... Allah is not another person...
Second, smart people are not brain washed...they have " Un esprit Cartesien" It means before following a leader they think if it makes sense...
Third, any person who host a show gets paid, where the money goes, it's no one's business, he works hard for it and gets it with his own sweat...at least by educating young people about their own religion...
Who is Amr Khaled, the person...I am sure a nice guy...besides that, he have helped and still helping a lot of Muslim to get back to their faith in the crazy world of Ruby, haifa.....and "fassad in Arab countries"....

I dont know how u guys can say u hate a guy that teaches us about islam . I really learned alot from him and he is a great teacher and I really dont care what u guys say, who ever said his voice is annoying u dont have to listen and go find a song to listen to maybe that will help u when u die.

I think in order to be a civilised person people must respect others opinion but we - the arabs - wherever we live don't care about that i hate amr khaled and as you connect him with haifa wehbe i hate her too, don't you see that its funny to connect both of them together :), please try to be civilised people and don't try to attack any one just because he doesn't follow your opinion

i believe that all three of u totally misunderstood what this man is trying 2 accomplish and has already accomplished. he shook the arab world with his invigorating and hopeful words,he brought the sense of ambition and desire to amend the wrong back 2 life in our spirits, he added fuel on an already burning and surging fire in our souls.he is a great man with a lot of wisdom and one day may actually be the reason the arabs do go 2 the moon mido. i truly respect and admire him and hope 2, one day, be able to have that magnetic effect he has on most people.God Bless Him.

Unfortantely, the majority of people that listen to Amr Khaled are not very well educated or are average people who can easily manipulated by his nice words, that doesnt mean he is a bad guy but he is over rated and religion shouldn't be teached this way as if it is product to sell or market....
