60 Years After World War II, Germany Remembers

Berlin, Brandenburg Gate

Today, 60 years ago the devastating war that destroyed most of Europe ended, and Germany today remembers.
World War II was the end of lots of things for Germany; the end of Nazi tyranny, it was also the start of so many things that made Germany the great country that it is today.
The picture above is of a painting next to the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. It is a huge 180 degrees painting put in place for the commemorations of the end of WW II in Europe; it gives an impression of the situation at the end of the war, particularly in Pariser Platz.

Berlin, Pariser Platz

The Germans call it “A Day For Democracy”, and festivities are the feature of this Sunday all over the country, in addition to the remembrance of all those who have died for their freedom and their country’s liberty.
We join Germany in remembering, and cheer for the democracy that should be covering the whole world, and the freedom that is the right of each and every citizen of the world.

    hey,
it was a very bad time, when the germans destroyed counties to rule the world. Hilter which i think is the most horrible man on earth, i could not see a man with such power by people believeing in what he said. He was so distuctive and very upsetting to see these images. I watched the file " The pianist" which was very discruptive and very emtional to see people that were treated like animals. It was very sad to watch. I hope nothing happens like this in the years to come.
