Make Poverty History Campaign

2005 is a year of unique opportunity for rich countries to end extreme poverty and change the lives of 800 million of the earth's poorest people.

The start of 2005 has understandably been dominated by the Asian tsunami and its devastating aftermath. And while it may feel as though there is nothing we can do to prevent natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes, we CAN prevent the 30,000 deaths caused every day by the manmade disaster of extreme poverty.

Our generation has the resources and the know-how to make poverty history and 2005 is the year we can do it.

WALEG is proud to be part of the MAKE POVERTY HISTORY campaign planned for 2005 to end extreme poverty by helping to bring about trade justice, more and better aid and the full and final cancellation of third world debt.
