Allah Yer7amo! this was a terrible crime against humanity and not just Lebanon. It bothers me to hear all negative comments on Syria as well as hearing about hate crimes and bad treatment of Syrian workers in Lebanon. A country that's proud of it's democracy and treatment of others.
I live in Lebanon and live with this negative view of not just Syrians, but other Arabs alike. A large number of people living in Lebanon think they are superior to others... unless you have large sums of money, then you become a friend.
Unfortunatly, I witness this every day of my life here in Lebanon. I love my country, but admit we have to work on controling our angers and admitting the truth...

The thing is that the Lebanese people do not want the Syrian troops to be in Lebanon. Syrian people would not accept to have another army in their beloved country. Even if Syrians were not directly responsible for Hariri's assasination, they are in charge of the security in Lebanon. In less than a year we witnessed an attempt to assasinate minister Hamade and then the assasination of Prime Minister Hariri. Is it a coincidence that both men requested the withdrawal of the Syrian troops around a week prior to the incidence? Lebanese people are getting tired of the situation. Lebanon is our country and we have all the right to ask them to leave and that's what we are doing. I am completely against treating the Syrian people unethically. If we are doing it, we are wrong. All men and women are created equal and should be treated well. PEACE.

first i want to say R.I.P to Rafik Hariri. what i heard he was a good leader to the people of lebanon. second, i would like to comment on what hiba stated above on syria only wants peace thats why they have 15,000 troops in lebanon. WRONG!!!!!! the reason why syria is "occupying" lebanon because it is making profit out of lebanons resources. also syria have takin many jobs away from the Lebanese. nothing against the syrian people, they have no sayin in thier government like many other people in thier respective contries. but i say everything negative that happens to lebanon has a connection to the syrian government.

Every1 listen up!!! Lebanon is a great country, and ne1 who tries to deny that just has problems. I am a lebanese and i know. The only problem with Lebanon is the having illegal syrians presnet here working and 15,000 troops on the streets. They are bad both for the peopl and the country. Why, you ask? well ill tell you why. All these illegal syrians living in cardboard huts on the streets(there are about 20 in my village) are takin employmant away from the lebanese people. I know many people who ohave lost their jobs due to the syrians taking them bcz they work for less. The syrians are bad for the country beacause Lebanon is like a puppet in its hand. The politians are too scared to say anything agianst it in fear of death(like we have seen this past week with Harairi, may he rest in peace). This is why Lebanon is not put together. And dont go around bad mounthing the country due to the celebrities. Haifa Nancy and Elissa arent terrible people and they have done nothin to harm the lebanese people, pn the contrary. They bring Lebanon priede(at least i know Elissa and Nancy do). So any one who is against Lebanon, think before you speak!
P.S.I am not at all against the Syrian People. I just think that Lebanon should be free from Syria and be ruled as a free counrty for once!!

Talking about the syrians workers in Lebanon,the only persons u should blame are their employers. Whey r these Syrian employees being employed??? Why r u employing them if u hate them???
U SHOULD THANK these workers because Lebanese workers are too lazy to do what they do!!!!

hi i am born in bulgaria but my parents r from syria. i like lebanon very much i even want to come to study there. even i do not understand much in politics i think that the syrian troops must leave lebanon. and the other think i want to share is that i dont think that the syrian government had done it because i dont think that they have the power and courage to do such a big thing. i think its america just to have a reason to blame syria and to start a war against it! after all i think that lebanon will always be such a great country even though they have lost such a great person who helped them to become stronger after the war! Peace forever!!!

To all who are complaining against the Syrian workers in Lebanon, you would stop writing and complaining about the workers if you live outside and witness how and where some of the Lebanese work in the US, Canada, and Australia. As a matter of fact, they have bad reputation in Australia, Africa, and parts of the US and Europe. They work in trashy jobs and such then go to Lebanon and claim they are CEOs or president of corporations... I see it all the time. I meet people whom I've seen in Lebanon during the summer times complaining about the syrians taking their jobs, yet they would never work such jobs in Lebanon (God forbide they distroy the high class image they portray inside the country)... and then see them outside working under f..up conditions. It's all about image in Lebanon!
My mother is Lebanese and love the country and father is Jordanian and love Jordan as well... but I live and travel all over the world and spent my summers in beloved lebanon... but I have noticed that a lot of the arab doctors and engineers in the west are os Syrian backgrounds... they are respectable people and most do not agree with the Syrian governments... most are full of class not to come against any other nation and dehumanize it's neighbours and other peoples...
What I'm trying to say is, be open minded and remember all people from the Arab world are the same... we have the great ones as well as the dogs... do not generalize and stay civil. That's the key to a real democracy.

آلاف العمال السوريين باتجاه حدود بلادهم خوفا من المشاعر القوية الموجهة ضدهم
من لبنانيين على خلفية مقتل رئيس الوزراء اللبناني السابق رفيق الحريري، والشحن
النفسي والإعلامي الموجه ضد سوريا والسوريين معا. لم تكن العنصرية والدونية
تجاه العمال السوريين في لبنان غائبة أبدا، إلا أنها لم تكن المشهد كله كما هي
الآن. يقول أحد العمال السوريين الذين التقتهم > أمس الأول لحظة وصوله
من بيروت، أنه منذ اربعة ايام مختبئ في بيت شخص ولا يستطيع المغادرة.
يضيف >. من جهته يعلق أحد سائقي الخط الدولي بين
العاصمتين، بأنه في اليومين الأخيرين يقوم برحلتين وأحيانا بثلاث رحلات إلى
لبنان بسبب الضغط الشديد للعمال الراغبين في العودة>>.
ووفقا لذات الشهود فإن ثمة مشكلة موجودة في تأمين سيارة تقل العمال السوريين من
بيروت إلى المدن القريبة من الحدود السورية كشتورة. إذ توقفت سيارات الأجرة

ويروي مراسل إحدى المحطات العربية في دمشق أنه عاد سريعا من بيروت التي صادف
وجوده فيها يوم مقتل رئيس الوزراء السابق رفيق الحريري، ويشير الى أنه رحل على
وجه السرعة في اليوم التالي في سيارة تحمل لوحة لبنانية بناء على نصائح زملائه.
أيضا تلقى دبلوماسيون أجانب في دمشق تحذيرات من سفاراتهم من التوجه بسياراتهم
إلى لبنان تخوفا > حاليا.
هذا الجو لم يجد له ردا هادئا في الشارع السوري، اذ تضاعفت في الأيام الأخيرة
حالة الحنق والاحتقان حيال الاتهامات في لبنان ضد سوريا والسوريين. وكان لحلقة

hello guys... let his spirit flow through lebanon's street and keep this unity he created. this death reunited lebanese together, spectacular scenes of unity were shown on tv, i was so touched.

then, the possibilities of who did this are not yet for sure. but the majority of the lebanese people say it's the syrian government. first of all, not "syrian government" as it is, but maybe syrian intelligence military cops and their helpers in lebanon. the president of syria may not even be aware of this! but probably this is the version. why? because hariri orchestrated the "1559" agreement equivalent to "al ta'if". they punished him. if hariri had stayed for the elections, a mojority of opposition members would have won, which would have created a shameful retreat syria doesn't want...

this is how things worked out this time.

they chose the ultimate savior, the man who actually did something out of lebanon, a man who counted on economics, reconstruction, infrastructure, knowledge, and business to get somewhere, not like most arab leaders, with all due respect, that usually count on their soldiers or armies or military/propaganda processes.

تتطور الأحداث الدولية, في اثر اغتيال رئيس وزراء لبنان السابق بسرعة فاجأت السلطة اللبنانية الحاكمة في بيروت بدعم سوري, كما فاجأت نظام دمشق نفسه, بحيث بات تحرير لبنان قاب قوسين أو أدنى, وقد أصبحت هذه الأحداث بمثابة محادل تهدد بقلب المعادلات الراهنة كما حصل في العراق.
وفي تطورات هذه الأحداث فقد علم ان الأشخاص الذين خططوا ونفذوا عملية اغتيال الحريري ثلاثة هم اللواء الركن آصف شوكت الذي أعلن أمس أنه أصبح رئيس الاستخبارات العسكرية السورية, واللواء بهجت سليمان رئيس استخبارات أمن الدولة, واللواء جميل السيد مدير عام الأمن العام اللبناني المعروف بولائه المطلق للنظام السوري. وفي هذا السياق كشفت مصادر قريبة من »المحافظين الجدد« في الادارة الاميركية عن ان واشنطن حسمت خياراتها عشية لقاء الرئيسين الاميركي والفرنسي يوم الاثنين في بروكسل على اساس انسحاب سورية السريع من لبنان, واجراء انتخابات نيابية كاسحة, وانتخاب رئيس للجمهورية بدلاً من اميل لحود.
ووسط هذا الصخب الدولي بعث الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد برسالة شفهية الى الرئيس الفرنسي جاك شيراك عبر فيها عن رغبته بسحب قواته من لبنان على دفعتين, وخلال ستة أشهر. وقد رفض الرئيس شيراك مناقشة هذا العرض وجدد طلبه بضرورة انصياع سورية الكامل للقرار 1559 .
وفي تفاصيل هذه التطورات تناهت معلومات تفيد ان اغتيال الحريري كان تنفيذاً لقرار اتخذ على أعلى مستوى في دمشق قبيل حلول عيد الأضحى الماضي, وقبيل الوصول الى اتخاذ هذا القرار الخطير تم في دمشق تحليل مواقف الحريري بوجه عام, وأسباب رفضه التمديد للحود في ولاية ثانية, ولمدة ثلاث سنوات بوجه خاص, وقد شاركت أجهزة السلطة الأمنية في لبنان في هذه التحاليل المعمقة, وتوصل المعنيون في دمشق وبيروت الى قناعة مفادها أن الحريري يلعب أدواراً خطيرة, وانه هو المحرك الفعلي والحقيقي للمعارضة اللبنانية, وبعلاقاته الدولية تمكن من تحريض فرنسا وأميركا على سورية, ودفع الدولتين الى العمل على استصدار القرار 1559 الذي يدعو سورية الى الخروج من لبنان, وبناء على هذا التقييم اتخذ القرار بالتخلص من الحريري وتصفيته جسدياً, ورأى أصحاب قرار التصفية أن الحريري إذا لم تتم تصفيته فإن لوائحه ستكتسح الانتخابات النيابية في شهر مايو المقبل, وبالتالي فإنه سيتمكن من قلب المعادلة الراهنة في لبنان, والتخلص من السلطة الحاكمة فيه, ومن الوجود السوري الذي يهيمن عليه منذ اكثر من ثلاثين سنة.
وبعد اتخاذ قرار التصفية تولت ثلاث قيادات امنية مهام التخطيط والتنفيذ وهي اللواء الركن آصف شوكت الرئيس الجديد لجهاز الاستخبارات العسكرية السورية, وصهر الرئيس بشار الاسد »زوج اخته بشرى«, واللواء الدكتور بهجت سليمان, رئيس استخبارات امن الدولة, وراعي توصيل بشار الاسد الى الرئاسة ووراثه ابيه, واللواء جميل السيد مدير عام الامن العام في لبنان وقد تم تنفيذ الخطة صباح يوم الاثنين الماضي بنجاح, بحيث تم القضاء على الحريري ومن معه بانفجار مروع في منطقة سان جورج غربي بيروت.
ويذكر انه بعد اعلان استشهاد الحريري في الواحدة الا خمس دقائق ظهر يوم الاثنين الماضي تمت ترقية اصف شوكت الى رتبة لواء بعد نصف ساعة وتعيينه رئيساً للاستخبارات العسكرية خلفاً للواء حسن خليل الذي قيل انه ذهب الى التقاعد بعد بلوغه السن. وكان اللواء خليل قد تسلم مركزه من اللواء الشهيد علي دوبا الذي احيل على التقاعد سنة 2000 بتهمة غير معلنة هي بيع النفط السوري والعراقي لاسرائيل الذي كشف عنه جهاز مكافحة التجسس التابع للسلطة الفلسطينية, وأبلغه عرفات للرئيس السوري الراحل حافظ الاسد عبر مبعوث سري, وكان اللواء خليل ضابط الارتباط الرسمي بوكالة المخابرات المركزية الاميركية, فضلاً عن مهمته الاخرى كمستشار أمني للفريق السوري المفاوض مع اسرائيل.
اما اللواء شوكت فقد كان مكروهاً من النجل الاكبر للرئيس السوري الراحل حافظ الاسد, باسل الاسد, والذي كان يعارض اقترانه بشقيقته بشرى, وظل على معارضته الى ان قتل في حادث سيارة على دوار مطار دمشق, وقيل لو ان باسل الاسد ظل على قيد الحياة, لما تمكن شوكت من الاقتران بابنة الرئيس الى جانب ان اللواء شوكت هو احد مجموعة الضباط الاثني عشر الذين اطلق عليهم مسؤول اميركي لقب »عصابة الدرزن التي تحكم سورية فعليا«, والمتورطة حسب واشنطن, بعمليات الارهاب في العراق وغير العراق, وهو من ينتظر الاطاحة بهم بقوة مفاعيل »قانون اغتيال الحريري«.
وفي الوقت الذي تتناقل فيه بيروت هذه الاخبار افادت مصادر اللوبي اللبناني في واشنطن امس, ان الانسحاب العسكري السوري من الاراضي اللبنانية سيتم بسرعة, وخلال اسابيع, وان الانتخابات النيابية ستتم في موعدها المحدد وستسفر عن اكتساح المعارضة لمقاعد مجلس النواب الجديد, كما سيتم اجراء انتخابات رئاسية فورية بعد الغاء قرار التمديد للرئيس لحود داخل المجلس, وافادت هذه المصادر ان اكتساح المجلس النيابي الجديد قد يتم باكثر من 90 مقعداً بسبب اغتيال الحريري, والعزل الشعبي لرجال السلطة الحاكمة وقرار الانتفاضة عليها, وبسبب أن تلك الانتخابات تجري للمرة الأولى بغياب النفوذ السوري, وحلول النفوذ الفرنسي الاميركي الاوروبي مكانه لضبط الامور والتسريع في اعادة لبنان الى سكة الديمقراطية, التي افتقدها منذ اكثر من 29 عاما هو عمر الوجود السوري فيه.
واوضحت المصادر ان توجيه دعوة الى البطريرك الماروني مار نصر الله بطرس صفير لزيارة واشنطن ولقاء الرئيس بوش الشهر المقبل حملها نائب وزيرة الخارجية الاميركية وليم بيرنز الى الصرح البطريركي في بكركي الاربعاء الفائت هدفه »الوقوف على رأي البطريرك الذي اثبت اعتداله الكبير وسط اجواء التطرف الهائل على الساحة اللبنانية, حيث قام بتمرير السلم الاهلي في البلاد بطريقة مجربة وخبرة معهودة في الساسة اللبنانيين في مسألة الانتخابات الرئاسية, التي يعتبرها جناح قوي داخل الادارة الاميركية محسومة بضرورة استقالة لحود تلقائيا او حمله على الاستقالة داخل مجلس النواب الجديد وربما يصل الامر في بحث هذا الموضوع الى الوقوف على رأي صفير بالاسم او بالاسماء التي يرى في اصحابها القدرة على تحمل اعباء الرئاسة في المرحلة المقبلة الصعبة بأقل مشكلات وقلاقل ممكنة.
ورأت المصادر ان زيارة صفير الى البيت الابيض حسب الاوساط اللبنانية في واشنطن » ستشكل العمود الفقري الجديد الذي سينهض عليه لبنان من كبوته الطويلة واذا ابدى بالفعل وهذا مستبعد رغبته في دعم زعيم سياسي ماروني معين للرئاسة فان رأيه سيكون مهما جدا بالنسبة لبوش ومساعديه الذين يثقون به وبقراراته وببعد نظره المجرب على الارض طوال السنوات الماضية«.
»اما اذا رفض غبطته الدخول في الاسماء كعادته وفي تزكية مرشحه المفضل للرئاسة الجديدة فان الولايات المتحدة لن تتخذ اي قرار منفرد في هذا الشأن وانما حتما ستتناقش مع الفرنسيين للوصول الى مرشح مشترك قوي وعادل ونظيف الكف ويمتلك شعبية داخلية لابأس بها بحيث تمكنه هذه الصفات من تجاوز كل الالغام المتوقع ان تزرع امامه لعرقلة قيام الدولة الديمقراطية الحقيقية«.
من جانب اخر اكد ديبلوماسي عربي في اتصال هاتفي مع »السياسة« ان الرئيس السوري بعث رسالة شفهية الى الرئيس الفرنسي عن طريق السفارة السورية في باريس يبدي فيها رغبته بسحب القوات السورية من لبنان على دفعتين وخلال ستة اشهر على ان تكون الدفعة الاولى والتي ستتضمن سحب نحو ثمانية الاف جندي خلال اسبوعين.
واشار الديبلوماسي الى ان الرئيس الفرنسي رفض مناقشة العرض السوري وجدد طلبه لناقله بالانصياع الكامل للقرار 1559 وسحب الاستخبارات السورية بشكل نهائي من لبنان والتوقف عن التدخل في شؤونه الداخلية والموافقة على قيام تحقيق دولي في عملية اغتيال الرئيس الحريري.
الى ذلك كشفت القناة الهولندية الاولى ان الرئيس السوري طلب وساطة المملكة العربية السعودية لفتح صفحة جديدة مع عائلة الحريري وان الرد السعودي جاء بتأجيل ذلك بعد انتهاء التحقيقات في عملية الاغتيال واكتشاف الجناة وتقديمهم للمحاكمة وضرورة عدم قيام السوريين بعرقلة اجراءات التحقيق وسير المحاكمات لاحقا.

i just hope that MR hariri's soul will rest in peace. the assassination of hariri is a game of the powerful countries that needs to put some pressure on syria so they killed our prime minister hariri.but they certainly used the syrian and propably the lebanese intelligence to commit their crime now what the lebanese are asking is a very healthy relationship with syria for the sake of the history between the two countries but the syrian intelligence has to leave the lebanese territory because they are harmful to lebanon in the way they are excercising the opression and the interference in the lebanese political life. all we need is not to let any side make their war on our land and we don't want any kind of bad relationship with anyone but we've had enough....we don't want anyone to use us but let us be.

Rafik Harira R.I.P a message 4 everyone dat loves him help fulfill his dream and fight against the syrian government and help re-build the country although he wont be there to see it we can at least show him we care enough and although it wont bring him back but it will help over come a bit of the sadness his death has left inside our hearts.Syria needs 2 gt outta Lebanon and I want 2 say 2 everyone dishas effected stay strong and the truth always cums out and who ever done this will pay the cost inshallah.

hariri, were you a part of this conversation? how did you hear of this? as far as i see it, the middle east is run by anger and emotions instead of logic. your media is biased and infiltrate more hate. i am almost embaressed with all the negative media that surrounds the middle east in the west. instead of people getting educated and working, they keep getting further and further behind. i am ashamed to hear these words. perhaps, people should mourn this great man and stop shifting the focus.
