The olympics are back home after 108 years of waiting ... this year the games are held under a lot of security on their mother land Greece, in the great city of legends and history; Athens. It has been 4 years since we sat down all together and watched the opening ceremony of such a huge athletic event, and what a dazzeling ceremony it was. Held in the evening, it was a perfect timing for celebrating and beautiful fireworks. The theme of the ceremony was taken from the ancient greek methology, with gods and godesses personified and made real for every one to see ...

Fascinating portraits of ancient greek stories, wonderful animations of old concepts made modern; all made skillfully and professionally to a dazzeling extent.
Watching how all those athletes from all over the world, from small and big countries ... from all the five contents ... watching them all gather in one place to celebrate, to compete together and still be friends. This is what the essence of humanity is really about ... loving each other, being friends no matter what and competing to better themselves, all this in fairplay ...
The ceremony has to end in a special way, again with a spectacular show of fireworks ... and a unique performance by the famous Bjork from Iceland.
The Greek President announced the begining of the games with the tolling of bells. The olympic flag was paraded around the stadium by famous Greek athletes, to be hung while the olympic anthem was playing.
At last the olympic torch, it was said to be a surprise ... it was also carried by famous Greek athletes around the stadium, until it reached its final point ... then, a large thing ... like a crane came down and the tiny torch lighted it so big and high ... where it will be on for the whole period of the olympic games.
Then, another fabulous show of beautiful fireworks lighted up the Athenian sky.
