LBC Star Academy Prime 12-03-2004

LBC Star Academy Prime 12-03-2004

Three months and one week have passed … and every prime is more intense than the one before … this prime was the most intense till now …
As usual, it was full of various sketches and songs in addition to 2 well-known guests; Diana Haddad from Lebanon and Baha’ Sultan from Egypt. The nominees were two fabulous guys; Tunisian Ahmad Sharif and Saudi Mohammad Khalawi…

Through out the night the students sang songs with both of the guests, alone And in groups … what was very eye-catching was how the stage was arranged and designed for each song … once with a beautiful autumn theme, again with a delightful spring theme with colorful umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, a garage full of mechanics and an amusing sketch resembling the academy kitchen in which the students not only eat, but also experiment with their cooking hobby!!!

The students saluted Lebanon towards the end of the prime with an old song by Zaki Nasif, not only did the audience cheer for them but they joined them in singing as well.

The end was dramatic … hands were held in waiting … who was it going to be, Ahmad or Mohammad Khalawi? … Seconds later it was announced, Ahmad would leave and Khalawi would stay … a minute later Ahmad addresses the audience thanking them for their support, greeting them and telling his fellow academics not to be sad and encouraging them to continue …

Do you think the next prime will be as intense as this one?
Who do you think will the nominees be??

did anyone see how ahmad just snached the microphone off hilda after his eviction was announced? Hilda was talking and he literally went up to her and the mic straight off her without even asking. He could have at least waited till she finished talking man. It bad how ahmad has left though, all the goodlooking candidates keep leaving, first sofia and now ahmad. I think however ahmad could have been a bit more warm to bahaa when she went to say goodbye, it was asif he just shruged her off
    OH well go bahaa

I dont care for star academy anmore. it is a waste of time and meaningless without sofia and ahmad. As far as for Bahaa i dont think she will ever get the title of a star. The real stars has left, and the show will become boring and dull. Especially with its stupid unfair teachers. Our love to Sofia and Ahmad and i hope we will get their albums soon.

The show is definatley BORING now, sofia has gone, ahman has gone, miryam has gone. the only peopel remotly interesting are bahaa and attieh but nonetheless i still wont wouldnt watch it anymore. Do a special and bring sofia and the others back and i will for sure. Hey i have a question, who wrote that long poem in the sofia/bashar forum? IT IS SO GOOD i really like it you're very talented who wrote it, you should check it out... and dont start writing abussive messages about it like people generally do, its a very thoughout and detailed poem (it funny too!)

Two weeks ago, the most interesting TV show was Star Academy. Today, the most disgusting one is Star Academy. I swear I'll never watch it again. I can't bear watching the most stupid people (excluding Bahaa) after Sofia and Ahmad left.

I swear to God this was the hardest choice i had to make between nominees in fact it was so hard that i didnt vote for anyone of them.
they both shouldn't have been nominated.
I don't undrestand what the star acadamy is looking for anymore --- i mean is it voice ,acting , or what ??????

I'm going to stop watching star academy now. Its useless without Ahmad. The academy is NOTHING without him! OK, Attieh and Bahaa' are great, but Ahmed had to be with them. First Bruno, then Sofia, now Ahmed! They're getting rid of some of the best voices.

Also, to all you Ahmad fans: I heard that a firm from Sfax is waiting for Ahmad to sign a contract with them .. they are going to support him to make albums... :D

    The Real Reason Khalawy Won:

Let's take a look at the two nominees.

Ahmad is a really nice guy, as are most of the academy students. He cared about his friends and was generally friendly with everybody. However, his relationship with Myriam upset a lot of people, including his girlfriend. Also, he probably got in trouble more than any other student for breaking academy rules, and never with a good excuse. He mostly got along with the other students and sometimes was even the peacemaker, though he was in a couple fights himself. Many times he would kind of mope around the house and was sometimes in a bad mood. He actually doesn't add that much to the house atmoshpere (that is/was mostly done by bachar, attieh, cynthia, bruno and a couple others), though he had a few funny moments.
Ahmad has lots of potential, but he's not there yet. His voice, which is the most important thing to look at, is decent. Sure, he had his high points. But notice these were almost always when he had to totally change his voice for a Lebanese folk song. Over all, he would almost never apply anything he learned to his actual performances, and usually had a nasally voice. He forgot the words during several primes and even he wasn't always happy with the way he performed. Basically, he continued to make the same mistakes over and over in each prime and evaluation. So many times, like this past week, he didnt even bother to try at all in his evaluation and sometimes he just flat out said he doesn't care. His dancing was good. In theatre classes he did nothing for a long time, and Betty and Aida constantly had to tell him to start working. In all his classes he sometimes put in effort and often didn't. He has some stage charisma, though I think people are mostly considering his looks rather than his mannerisms. He can play the derbake well, and trys out some stuff on the other instruments. I don't remember him ever composing much music, possibly a couple times.
Finally, he was nominated 3 times, early on when Amine left, in the middle of the series when Mira left, and this week. This tells us that he is inconsistent. He was in the top five a total of 3 times, for 3 weeks in a row as numbers 4, 2 and 3. In recent weeks he has been among the weakest in the academy.

Khalawy is also a good guy and is humble and doesn't get angry quickly. To my knowledge he never fought with anyone, mostly because he cares about his friend's feelings and he often tries to correct situations, like when Bahaa got upset after the joke on her birthday. He follows the rules and if something does go wrong, like when the rooms are messy, or when a teacher corrects him, he doesn't start fighting and complaining but accepts the fact that he's wrong. Though he doesn't run around the house screaming like Attieh, he is often very funny and is always laughing. He has a solid presence in the house and the students and teachers respect him.
Now let's look at Khalawy's talent and work. First, he consistently works, whether the outcome is successful or not. He really is one of the few in the house who always makes an effort from dieting to singing to acting. He takes time to help his friends in their work. He has a very good voice, and even from the beginning the teachers said his voice is one of the best in the academy. Unfortunately, he is often given songs that don't suit him. His dancing is decent, and has improved a lot from the beginning of the show, especially for someone who probably isn't used to that sort of thing. He may not be the best actor in the academy, but his acting is still very good and he is willing to try things that he sometimes feels uncomfortable with. At the primes, he has his own sort of stage presence which commands attention. He is also agood looking, and many people think he is even better looking than Ahmad. If you recall, the teachers almost never complain about his singing. That's because in all these primes he almost never sang a wrong note. The only problem in his singing is sometimes his breathe is short, but this can be fixed with a few techniques. He plays the oud well as well as the guitar and tries out stuff on the piano. He is also a very good composer. In the first half of the show, during the weeks when the students made up the evaluation songs, he composed tons of stuff for himself and for the others, as well as played for them during their evaluation.
Lastly, he has only been nominated twice. Both times were recent when the comptetion is getting close. He has been among the top six times. SIX TIMES! Once as number 3 (the week there was no number one - so that's really like number 2), three times as number 2, and twice as number one. That's one of the best records in the academy.

My point in this long analysis is that it is pretty fair that Khalawy won. Just because his fans may not post on this forum doesn't mean they don't exist. His personality and voice appeals to many people and there are a many who like him the best. As an example, on "Al Hadath" they showed this blond Lebanese girl perhaps 19 years old. Typical Ahmad fan, right? Nope, she said she's voting for Khalawy. With Khalawy, his fans don't just like him, but respect him as well.
Finally, all this talk about money at this point has little basis. First, Khalawy won by a close margin. If he had 80 or 90 percent over Ahmad, then it would be suspicious, but 55% is creditable. Secondly, he is obviously talented. If someone like Yasser was from Saudi Arabia and kept winning, then we have a problem. But for Khalawy, who is talented and has a good personality, it is definitely fair.

    Thanks for the compliment!
I felt sooooooo bad for Khalawy when I saw how the audience reacted. He tried his best and he won. And he only had kind words to say to Ahmad since the nomination (they are close friends after all) and he was sure Ahmad was going to win. Even when Hilda was interviewing him he said inshallah Ahmad wins. So why were the audience such jerks? Is it his fault that people vote for him? He earned his fans, perhaps even more than Ahmad did, and he has a right to their votes. That was maybe the most hurtful moment of these past months, watching him feel uncomfortable because the audience was so mean.

Smiley, a very objective article :) ... I'd like to add that Khalawi could be very funny during the theatre classes, specially when he performed together with Ahmad... the two were naturally funny. Last night I hoped Ahmad would stay as I like his "presence" on stage... but Khalawi won and Khalawi is ok too. I read few posts on "money talking"... I think there is some truth in that, but I don't blame the fans who vote many times... if they want to spend their pennies to support their idol, then that's fine... I blame the LBC (or makers of this program!) for allowing multiple votes by same tel. number!... We can't change that as the program maker want to make money thus allowing multi-voting. The final winner is more-or-less obvious... It's Bashar! My heart & vote is still for Baha'... But Bashar has great voice too PLUS fans who can afford multi-voting ... A perfect receipe for a winner. :-)
    ======
Well again "Smiley" i tend to compliment you on such a subjective essay, something we rarely see on this forum. Anyway there is one thing that keeps bothering me in every nomination , which is the fact that the rules of the show permitted every fan to vote as many times as he wishes , which is kind of unfair for some and pretty much positive for the others. Now i tend to congratulate khalawi at his win and i agree, the guy is simply a true gentleman and a star-wise kinda of person while ahmad i find really needed to work out on his consistency in his work and on his manner, my god that boy has a lot to learn about manners... Anyway im sure he will begin a pretty well organised career especially having such a huge ammount of fans to back him out .. Now back to the main purpose of me writing this reply which is basically the fact if lets say yasser for example had rich fans, fans who would be ready to spend their last units or their last cellular credits and even buy 10 times the ammount of usual credits to vote for him they would compensate on thousands of other fans of lets say Amin, which is kinda of unfair, basically because in reality Amin has the real number of fans while the fans of Yasser are only a few minority who have nothing in their lives but to vote all day long for the guy..
So eventually i really prefer if they had madea system where they can restrict the number of voting per person to just 1 vote.. which is pretty fair to everyone, especially that already the difference of population in several countries has made a big problem like when cynthia from lebanon (3,000,000 people) was against Khalawi from saudi arabia(23,000,000) ..ouff u could imagine the difference if only the home fans would vote for both of them ... so what do u think would happend if lets say every saudi arabian would vote 10 times while the lebanese voted once.. pretty unfair right !? anyway again i hope khalawy continues his good run and if he wins, if anyone at this stage wins i think he/she really deserve it ..

that was a very well written subject...i am really upset that people hate KHALAWY now because his people can afford calling a thousand times...AMHAD is beautiful but he looked like he wanted to go home and khallas he is sit for life, with all the fans, and his talent he will do good...Khalawy i love himmm soo much his smile and his maturaty...also he is the oldest so you cant really compare him to others in the academy...i hope MOE A wins though he has an amazing voice and acting skills and personality... well ya thats all i had to say and i am glad people agree that khalawy deserved it because he did

I think Khalawy deserved to stay but I'm not any more interessted in Star Academy because they're only 4 people and the good ones like Amine,Laila and Sofia are all gone and I think they still should be in the Academy and especially Amine and Laila because they were very good and worked good but unfortunately they didn't have a lot of fans and that was the main reason they left the Academy.
I hope Amine,Sofia and Laila will have a great singcareer and will sing at the last prime

    People,
Common now, Ahmad was nice and cute and all the girls liked him, but to be honest his voice wasn't always good, it all depends on the song. On the other hand Khalawy's voice and performance is always good.
At the end I think its going to be either Bashar or Bahha.
And the show is still interesting and nice.

Hi can i just say that the voting system is so wrong its not funny. im from australia but by backgrounds lebanese and i watch star ac. everyday (not anymore though i think its getting a touch boring). Anyway in australia, US, UK, South africa and other western countries we have a show Called American idol/ australian idol etc. Anyway all the nations winners went of to london to compete for world idol last yr which is excalty the same as WORLD BEST that bruno is going to in france. Anyway my point is, they had a really good and fair voting system which restricted each country for voting for the candidate from there own country because of size population differences. This way the other nations have to vote for another country and the phone rates to call were not a expensive so there was more incentive to call. i know it sounds unfair that u cant vote for your country, but realistically its the only fair and reasonable thing to do. That is what star ac. so be doing because they are dealing with several different countries, if it was just one country that would be different, but theres not in this case. And i am sure that is what they will have to do in star ac. world best in france . You might think thats a stupid idea but what other reasonable option is there, u can limit the amount of calls voters make like the madea system but it still means that the 23,000,000 saudis will all vote once and the 3,000,0000 will also only vote once and thats still doesnt work youre just dealing with smaller voting numbers made thats all, but it wont change the percentages in the end.

ALSO can i ask about the ahmad and miryam relationship? did he like her? like REALLY like her? what happened exaclty with that?. also i think that ahmad kinda thought he would win on looks alone, he always slacked off and kinda expected everyone to be handed to him on a platter. dont get me worng hes nice but i think he was a bit sure of himself and go pissed off when someone told him to work harder.

also does anyone know whats happened to sofia or miryam after they left the house? like any record deals or anything im just interested coz i like there voices

i can't believe he left!! the show is so boring know without his cute smile and wonderful voice... he is a true person... and he deserves more than anyone in the acadamey (excluding Bahha!) how can a wonderfully talented person like Ahmad which i love so much be out!!? Its so unfair!!

  1. q | March 14, 2004 2:47 AM

hey i agree with supp too! i think ahmad was rude to snach that mic of the presenter hilda. and it was asif he expected to win, it was like he was thinking "hey im hot why arent u voting for me?" he is hot dont get me wrong but i think he needs to see they need more than looks, like at khalawey he is not hot at all honeslty i know its mean but its the truth but his voice and talent is great, thus he'll get far, you cant rely on looks alone. Only one problem with khalawey is on the prime with cynthia i found it cruel how he was too bus bowing to the audience and throwing his hands up in the air coz he beat cynthia. the proper thing to do is what ahmad did to him when they were nominees and what miryam did to sofia when they were nominees, the nominees went STRAIGHT TO EACHOTHER FIRST to congradulate eachother THEN to the remaining members. cynthia had to wait for khawaley to stop prasing himself before she could congradulate him, EVEN THOUGH IT SHOULD BE HIM COMFORTING HER. and that aslo happened with basher and sofia, basher shouldnt have hugged atteih first she shouldve gone to sofia. oh well it mighten sound bad now but it really is. other than that khalwaey did desrve to stay

I think that prime is the most interesting one I ever seen....During the prime all of as were tackle his hand and our heart were seemly go out from our body...spacially that our favorite star AHMAD AL_SHRIF was one of the two nominees against khalawi who is only depend on his money....Unfortunatly AHMAD was the one who should leave......So we think that STAR ACADEMY PROGRAM and its PRIMES will not be interesting any more...and NO ONE will loose his or her time to watch the remaining stupied guys in the academy like Bshar ,Attih, Khalawi and baha...
I will not watch it any more and all my friends and students in our university agree in that they will not watch it any more. We will watch only the last prime because AHMAD promise as in his last prime that he will come.....

I suggicte that LBC must make surprise to AHMAD during coming three weeks t to give him a chance to go anywhere in the world to be a star in ay fasival otherwise all of as will not satisfy from this unfair treatment

The two nomniee this week will be Bshar and Khalawi

Long live sofia shes the queen of our hearts
Though staracademy ends your career only starts.
So modern and hip with your cool funky style,
You're trully bedazzling with your warm winning smile.
Sofia is the one that many of us love,
The voice of an angel sent straight from above.
The image of all that is gorgeous and true,
You are our queen and may god bless you.
Bahaa keep at it, do it for the girls,
Do it with your strength and enchanting gold curls.
Attieh has a good chance of winning this game,
Thats ok though coz hes the only guy thats not lame.
Khawaley shouldve gone make no argumentation
Hes only still in there coz of the size of his nation.
Gone is sweet Myriam whom we all miss so much,
When Bruno and Cynthia left it made our hearts crush.
Sofia’s song to Cynthia brought tears to our eyes,
Showing the value friendship in the house never dies.
To all men worlwide bashar is a disgrace
He needs a good slap and be put in his place.
Sofia however will always shine bright
Her name will be written in the star-filled twilight

What's is star academy without Ahmed?? a wonderfull voice.. u all saw the diffrenet between voices with ahmed and mohammed khalawy.. Mohammed khalawy the only one who didnt sing own part *raj3 lebanon* couse he don't have that strong voice to sing this strongly song.. And Ahmed left now WHY he is really a star listen to his voice.. look at his personality.. his look.. he is wonderfull.. and the teachers are not teachers to make Ahmed and mohammed khalawy nominees.. Saudia arabia are more then uniseen and all the khaleej thats why mohammed khalawy stayed... Ahmed he is the star and he gonna have a nice future.. There is no more star academy without Ahmed.. and if bahaa or attieh will go so i recomend lbc to stop star academy..

In my opinion, many of the people vote because of the country the person is from. Like someone else mentioned earlier, the time that Cynthia and Khalawi were both nominated, it was to Cynthia’s disadvantage.

Now, this time, it was to Ahmad’s disadvantage. I heard that people from Tunis couldn’t vote. So, in my opinion, that means that Ahmad had supporters in other countries. Whether they supported him because of his looks or his voice, we will never know. But, seeing as how they voted him because they actually liked him and not because of what country he was from, I think that Ahmad did very well then. He gained fans from countries other than his own. Also, did any of you read the letter he wrote for them? In it, he wrote “Take care of Bahaa”. That was very sad.

Also, in my opinion, in this critical stage of the show, the person who should be voted out should be chosen by the teachers. Fans only vote for who they like because of the above reasons. However, the teachers are much better judges. But, of course, if they did that, not many people would continue watching the show, because they would not have any role in its outcome.

Also, another thing that many of you have to remember is that they are all on a show. And they know they are on a show. So, many of the actions that they do might not be what they would really do. For all we know, maybe none of the men are gentlemen at all, but acting it, just to get more fans. Who knows?

Bahaa is the only one that deserves to win. She is nice, polite, understanding, loving, caring and respectful to herself and others. Attieh is just as good as a person but has a voice that is very inferior to Bahaa's. Simply, Bahaa has the best voice and a great future. Attieh will be a great actor, comedian, and singer. Bashar can go to hell with his ARROGANT attitude.

I think Khalawy will win because he is supported by Saudis, LETS NOT FORGET THAT PRINCE WALID BIN TALAL OWNS 49% of LBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The nominies should be Mohamed khalawi and bashar!
